Hate hate hate.

I just want better players on the team. As a fan you should too. I don't become personally attached to players.
I really liked Okafor's skillset, but I recognize hes a dog who lacks the motivation to be a good player.
Covington is good, but for this team they need a better player than him.

I want better players on the team. You specifically seem to want a better player than Covington. All this stuff you're complaining about Covington not doing the rest of the roster is mostly also not doing.

I'm all for improving the team I'm just not sure why you're singling out Covington as the one that has to go as opposed to (insert one of 10 guys on last year's roster worse at basketball than Covington)

I'm fine with trading him if it makes sense it just sort of seems like you think it should be a priority to do so.

If I say something positive about Justin Anderson are you going to point out he's not Kawhi? Just seems like hate, maybe I'm getting the wrong impression.

All of the big time players we are looking at, play the same position as Covington. So of course he is the one to replace. He's also one of the oldest players and he has some value. Of course hes better than JA, I'm not having that argument.
As the teams stands right now, with Ben, Embiid, Dario and hopefully Reddick as locks on the roster-THAT lineup needs a guy who can create his own shot at the SF spot and be relied upon to score. And be a good defender.
In addition to that, Boston has a lot of guys who can guard Covington, but he cant guard them. They are the main competition for years to come so you have to upgrade that spot.

What at this logic? It's 2018. The NBA is moving towards positionless basketball. LeBron, PG, Kawhi, and Covington can all easily fill multiple positions. It's absurd to suggest "Covington and LeBron/Kawhi/PG all play SF and we can only have one SF on the floor at a time".

A starting lineup that looks like Fultz, Covington, LeBron/PG/Kawhi, Simmons, Embiid fits together pretty well, assuming we get what we expect out of Fultz (and if we don't, he's the one that we'd need to replace). Multiple creators, multiple guys that can get their own shot, almost everyone is a two way player, and a lot of defensive versatility. The main issues with that lineup would be lack of spacing from Fultz and Simmons, not Covington.

Except Covington cant get his own shot and he's very streaky. You must have watched a different Boston series than me. If theres one guy I would want out of the starting lineup it would be Covington, not Saric. He played huge against Boston.
Did you notice how much better the team was with Covington on the bench and TJ starting ? Why do you think that is ?
Covington is ineffective against the Sixers main competition for years to come. Time to get rid of him when his value is as high as its ever going to be. And its not just the playoffs either. Look it up.

You understand the difference between the words multiple and everyone, right? Not everyone needs to be able to get their own shot.

The team was better with TJ starting because we needed someone quicker to defend Rozier. Covington should never have been put in that position. Part of it was also Simmons being awful - Covington’s offensive value directly correlates with Simmons’ success. We might have been better off with TJ in for Simmons instead of Covington, but that was never going to happen.

Saric played well this playoffs, but he is still probably more likely than Covington to be run off the floor versus teams like Golden State that will target him with high screens. A few bad playoff games from Covington doesn’t make him “ineffective for years to come”. As always, you put way too much weight into small sample sizes.

Also, enough with this "look it up" nonsense that you're including in your recent posts. I highly doubt you've put as much effort into your posts, your arguments, and your basketball knowledge as the people you've told to "look it up".

Seriously, Boston was one series. Covington had a bad series, but is clearly not the biggest problem on the roster.

He is an all-league defender and shot 37% from three, who will make just over 10 million. Look it up.

Your defense of Covington continues to be better than Covington's actual defense. Without Saric none of those Boston games are close. Covington can deflect all the passes he wants, Saric made tough plays in key moments. He's not afraid of taking(and making) big shots, unlike Covington. Something to be said for that. And you can question "look it up" all you want. If you did, you would see my argument is spot on, but you chose not to put in the effort.

Good thing I have 1st Team All-NBA Defense to support my argument and you have ??? to support yours. It's just incredible to me that you continue to sputter the same nonsense while all evidence points to Covington being a great defender. You're just set in your ways as a hater.

Please, you give less effort with your posts than 95% of this forum. You frequently make claims with little evidence or data to support them and your posts frequently have various grammatical mistakes like using the incorrect versions of "your", "you're", "it's", and "its".

I don't know what you mean but I wanted MCW traded ASAP. All evidence indicated that he was a bad basketball player whose value was propped up by volume on a bad team. He was an old prospect piling up large counting stats on horrible efficiency. It's a lot easier to see how a guy like that wins ROTY than a guy like Covington winning 1st Team All-Defense.

Also, a whole 5 games to support your argument?

Actually every game he has played against the Sixers primary competition the past year. The Celtics will be good for a long time. You need a player who is effective against them. He isn't. But who knows he may have led the series in deflections

I know your narrative is Roco has been bad against the Celtics this year, and really he has. Problem is, he hasn't been the only one bad against the Celtics, there are several players who played worse against the Celtics. Roco isn't the type of guy that is going to carry you when others are struggling on offense. The Celtics are also the type of team that can drive on Roco.

Benny 1pt and Jojo have also struggled against the Celtics all year, and if they are playing bad, Roco will also. Only person that played well against them during the season was JJ, so they picked on him to take him out of his game (Great move by Stevens). Dario stepped up in the playoffs, but he also struggled shooting against them during the season. TJ started mainly (should've been earlier) cause he was the only one in the rotation that could guard Rozier.

Point is, your on Roco about how he performs against them, but he's not the only one that struggles against them. Roco isn't the type of player that will carry you on offense if others are struggling so if you want to say trade him for Kawhi fine, otherwise he's not as easy to replace as you seem to think.

My issue with roco is more with his ISO defense more than anything.

I can probably live with his inconsistencies 3 and TOs. But not being an average at best ISO defender is just not acceptable for a guy who has defense as his calling card.

He has his fair share on defense against Rozier and Tatum in the Celts series thats exposed this.

I'm not wasting my time explaining how a guy that made first team all defense is great at defense. Never seen a clearer example of haters gonna hate.

It's hard to judge because a Simmons-Redick-Covington-Saric line up doesn't match well against teams with a dynamic back court since Redick gets beat on just about every assignment which forces Covington to guard their 2 whilst playing team defense. I think running a 4 man zone defense would be interesting as it would cover up some weaknesses and keep embiid to shut down the paint.

Zone? Won’t work.

Needs ISO defense, switching and rotating.

Issue for me is not JJ getting beat, because he can bring it on offense. But issue for me is Rozier and Tatum not getting intimidated on Roco’s ISO D.

If you watch Rox or Warriors, when Iggy or Dray gets switched on Harden or CP3 they run another screen play to force Curry or Young to switch.

Regular season is different from playoffs.

In regular season, you can play team basketball. Ben can do his hand offs and score 20 off the flow. While you can play team/zone D.

Playoffs is a different ball game. Its an ISO contest. That’s why LeBron can single handedly trump over Raps or Celts. Or how Celts are able to beat us being less talented while the things we used to do in reg season doesnt work.

Awards? That’s based on regular season.

If roco can't cut to the basket or knock down 3s,he'll continually be outplayed by Boston whilst tatum, brown and Hayward can score on multiple levels.

Ben had decent games against them and some clunkers. Same with Jojo. Those guys are rookies though and the future of the franchise. Covington is a role player in his prime. He was unplayable in that Boston series. I don't care if a bunch of sportswriters and broadcasters selected him to first team all defense who don't watch him every game. Your not first team all defense if you cant guard any of the players assigned to you in the Celtics game. Rozier, Tatum even Brown and Horford(when he was on them) all scored on Covington like he wasn't there. Stop defending the guy likes hes a relative.
If we can sign Lebron or PG, great. Cov can be the 7th or 8th guy off the bench which on a really good team is about where he should be.

Very true. Now Iggy is an all league defender. See how much the Warriors struggle without him defensively. When Covington went to the bench in the Boston series the team was noticeably better. TJ played better defense.

I don't think anyone has said Roco is irreplaceable. TJ started cause he could guard Rozier better, and since Rozier has limited athletic ability TJ could take care of him. TJ has gotten toasted against any PG that actually is athletic with size, thats been seen on several occasions, then we don't have anyone on the team that can guard that.....other than Fultz. A team with 2 really good guards have always been a problem for us, thats no secret.

As we sit right now, Roco starts cause we don't have anyone better than him to play his spot. Just so happens he has a bad matchup against the Celtics, but most of the rest of the NBA he does a good job. Now you sign Bron or PG, then you can make a decision about whether to start Roco or not....but guess what, they haven't signed and we don't know if they will.

Dogging Roco is fruitless, unless you think we can start TJ for 82 games, yeah right. Get someone better, then you can rant.
