I agree with this. Certainly believe that you can cover Embiid's backup with a combination of Bolden, A 2nd round Center to develop and a veteran 1 year signing.

Spend the money on guys who can make a difference and play multiple positions and then just Anchor the 5 spot with athletic guys who can block shots, board and defend a bit.

I agree except Bolden has already proven he cannot man the middle. Maybe with experience and added muscle???
Sixers rumored to be interested in khem birch who is also undersized. I wonder why the Sixers haven't taken a flyer on gleaguer Norvelle Pelle. Everytime I watch him play he seems Nerlens Noel lite.

Believe the Sixers invited Pelle to training camp last year, maybe they will again.

It's a big summer/year for Bolden. Not knowing how to play defense as a rookie is understandable but he has to figure it out soon.

He's a bit too Jekyll and Hyde. There are games where he can be a total x-factor, but most nights he plays too reckless and undisciplined. Huge summer ahead for Bolden.

Yeah I'm cautiously optimistic since that's the sort of thing that improves with experience.

Still though... guy has to figure out how to cover a pick and roll. He was almost as bad as Okafor at that.

Dedmond would be nice but,
J McGee
E Davis
R Lopez
Kanter
Faried
Vonleh
Aminu

I’d be happy with any of those guys. We don’t need the typical old school “Center”

Yea im with you on Bolden manning the middle EXCLUSIVELY....but as a 4/5, if he can just improve his shot a bit, get a little stronger and the game just slows down with experience, he should be able to give you SOMETHING off the bench.
Balance it out with a decent draft pick to develop/possibly contribute (Dedric Lawson), and then bring in a veteran 5 for when he is not playing well.(Robin Lopez, McGee,Tyson Chandler, Gortat are 5 guys that could realistically be acquired relatively cheap)

Of course that everyone will try to get KD or kawhi, but if they don't get this guys, butler will be a priority for some of this teams.

I have read if we cut Jonathan Simmons we will have 66 million dollars in cap space this summer. I guess I don't know where to find this information can anyone verify how much we indeed do have in cap space this offseason?

Thank you very much in advance!

I have a sneaking suspicion we're going to lose Tobias.

That would be fantastic news, unless we could sign him at an affordable price which I doubt it.

Honestly think we'll lose both of them. We'll be memes of the offseason.

I think if you don't offer that 5th year, even if it ends up been slightly below the max total, but close, you will lose Jimmy

Tobias is gonna command a max too, but his options aren't thaaat sexy (Utah, Indiana, Dallas, etc...) so I think if you pony up he stays

Boban just said he expects to return to the Sixers. There's no way that happens If Tobias doesn't come back imo.

I recognize this gives the Nets even more options if they don't get the top talent, but I actually think the Nets getting Taurean Prince makes it less likely they try to outbid us for Tobias Harris. If they strike out on a true superteam, I think they'd pay less for a "name" like Jabari Parker, or maybe even Julius Randle-who I didn't realize until today shot 34% from the bean last year.

I don’t think Boban is connected at the hip with Tobias. I know the “best friends” narrative, but I can’t imagine that is the main factor.

If the Nets score big and let D'Angelo walk, I imagine him going to the Phoenix Suns. Without defense they won't ever be great, but Phoenix has talent 2 through 5 and will give folks a run like Orlando did this year if they cop the bluntsman.

despite what i said above, I'm afraid that if the nets dont' score big they have the capspace (47m) to offer tobias a max deal and boban substantially more than what we are willing to pay him. That, plus going home, to a bigger market, and maybe a slightly more important role in the offense?

not really afraid of it, since i think we can go in other directions so long as we bring Jimmy back. would just be pissed we gave up so much to rent tobias for half a season. people were sick of me clamoring for otto porter last year who would've cost less to acquire i think and would be locked up for two more years at 26m or so. tobias was and is a reasonable alternative, but only if he stays. as we watch shamet develop into kevin martin, elton brand may never hear the end of it if he goes.

So you think he'd rather go to Utah, Nets or Dallas alone or stay at a title contender with his best friend? Do the maths man.

I think Tobias will choose money on a decent team then being the 3rd or 4th wheel on a good team, despite what his bff does

I don't even know what that means. Are you insinuating that Boban is his only friend and will make a multimillion dollar decision based on if he's in close proximity to Boban?

Why wouldn't you get it? He's not gonna get more money than we can offer him, therefore if it's a choice to stay at a title contender with his BEST FRIEND, or go another place alone where he may not even challenge for anything, where do you think he would be inclined to sign? As the great Nasir Jones once said..."IT AIN'T HARD TO TELL"!!!.

You can argue that he'll be re-signing with a contender, will have an opportunity at more money, or just seemed to love the city and embraced Philadelphia as reasons to stay in Philadelphia. Those are valid.

Boban re-signing here as the motivating factor is what I don't agree with. That's the original part of the argument that I took exception to.

I actually think Harris is more likely to stay than Butler. Butler is a wild card to me, I see him going to NY or LA.

Resign Harris. Most likely would have to be max
Resign Reddick. 2 years 19M
Trade Bolden and pick 42 for 2 future 2nds...I'm not a fan of Bolden and don't think he'll have a spot next year, same with pick 42
Leaves us with roughly $26M in cap room for free agents.

Sign Pat Beverly 3 years 40.5M...I think we'd probably have to overpay some, but he's too perfect of a fit
Sign Jeremy Lamb 2 years 24M...he takes decent $ on a short term deal on a good team to hit the market again at 29

Resign Mike Scott 2 years 10M. Using non bird exception...He's not great, but he's a good fit for the city and not bad for 10 mins a night + doesn't make sense to not use the exception available.

Split MLE between Ed Davis and James Ennis...Ed Davis is the defensive/rebounding backup big we need and Ennis is a solid contributor and keeps the continuity with the team. Jimmy would be the only major contributor lost from the playoff run.

Use #24 on Dylan Windler...JJ's replacement in 2 years. Shooters always have a role.
Use #33 on Nicolas Claxton...athletic big with some potential
Use #34 on a Euro Stash

Ben....33 mins
Beverly...28 mins
Lamb...25 mins
Harris...33 mins
Jo...33 mins

Reddick....20-25 mins
Zhaire...10-15 mins
Ennis...10-15 mins
Davis...15 mins
Scott...5-10 mins
Windler
Claxton
Shake
