Speak volumes of how underwhelming Conley has been so far

Utah is foolish for thinking a 32-year-old Conley would be some magical upgrade to Rubio. He's oft-injured and hasn't been played at an all-star level for 3 years now.

Utah also got to move the last year of that useless Exum deal. And only gave up two 2nds. Great deal for them even if Clarkson walks.

I guess the "Donovan Mitchell trade demand" watch has unofficially started. Jazz seem like they're scrambling to give him quality teammates.

Utah was overrated by a lot of people before the season. They have pieces but lack a superstar to build around, which puts a ceiling on what they can do.

Still given the limitations, no real tanking over the years and not being a destination, their FO has done quite well to build a competitive team. To do anything more they would need to acquire a superstar, which means in their case to find a way to draft one.

Utah should flip Conley for Griffin at the deadline and pray that Blake can be 85% healthy for a playoff run.

Shouldnt we have a easy time breaking the zone? All our guys are having good shooting years, except for Ben. Even Biid has been sHooting well from 3s

The poster Negrodamus might be interested in this snippet from the recent Hollinger article I linked to in the Zhaire thread:

"Dedric Lawson, Austin – Lawson has always been a massively productive player, but scouts worried about his slow feet and limited athleticism. It’s the same drill in the G League, where Lawson has been one of the league’s most productive players while coming off the bench for Austin behind Samanic – he scored 36 points this weekend while missing only five shots.

Lawson is a slow-footed 4 who will always have defensive question marks, but he can handle the ball, pass and rebound, and his instincts are good even if his feet are not. Lawson sports a 68.9 TS% that includes a solid 37.5 percent from 3, and despite his limited hops, he’s blocking nearly two shots per 36. It seems like he’s been around forever, but he’s still just 22."

Our offensive system is premised on creating little gaps in the defense off handoffs, cuts, hard-charging drives, etc, and that's not useful when we're not playing a man-to-man. We basically have no experience or chemistry with the zone.

Teams don't run zone on us because they don't respect our shooting. They run zone on us because they don't respect the our ball handling. Which makes sense. Our PG (Simmons) has the worst positional agility and handle in the league and our SG (Richardson) can't dribble at all unless he's attacking a closeout.

The best way to murder a 2-3 zone is to put your most agile ball handler in the high post so he can easily dribble past the bigger players and have uncontested layups all day long.

So putting Trey Burke on the floor and playing him in the high post is a 1 man zone buster. Maybe Brett slowly figured that out in the past couple of games?

Went to see uncut Gems tonight. There are few videos of past 76ers games in the movie. KG does a good job of playing KG. But Adam Sandler does an excellent job in his role who knew the waterboy could really act. Excellent movie.

Well written post. Two things. Richardson has looked totally off since he came back from his second injury. It's like he's learning to play all over again.

Coach Brown does not seem to be quick to act on anything that might interfere with Ben and his PG duties. It's a crazy situation.

Hmm.. excellent post. Yeah, was thinking straightforward like just rotating the ball and letting the open guy shoot it but didnt consider the drive and kick part.

Slow-footed 4 with a 7’3ish wingspan is basically a small ball five. If he were athletic, he’d be crushing it in the league despite his (alleged) terrible attitude. I don’t know if he’s been humbled by the G-League, but his upside as a pick and pop (+more as a hyper-skilled big man) should get him looks in the league. I’d love to bring him in, especially with Horford as a potential mentor and blueprint to salvage his young career.

It's bad enough that teams draft players that they need to teach how to shoot from scratch, but now the Pelicans have to teach Zion how to walk.

Should have just drafted Ja Morant.

The Clippers/Lakers 4th quarter was a microcosm of what I've been preaching.

Having two great all-around hall of famers is cool and all, but not at the expense of leaving your team without the ability to score in the halfcourt in 4th quarters. LeBron should have brought Kemba with him to L.A. if he actually wanted to win a championship.

I usually don't lobby to sign guys everytime a player gets waived, but I'd probably be interested in Jeff Green. Arguably an upgrade over Mike Scott. Switchable defender, capable outside shooter, big & versatile enough to play some backup 4.

I wouldn't expect him to be anything more than an edge rotation guy to add depth.... still more useful than a guy like Bolden..

Popovich is doing a really bad coaching job this year. One foot in retirement and it's showing
