The Okafor pick was so **** brutal, and everyone knew it before it happened. Sam's one big f***kup, and I don't buy that he had no other options.

Damn, if the Okafor trade to the Celtics happens and the Fultz trade doesn't, how different is the last 7-8 years?

I do think that Katz was really sweating Biid’s navicular setback and pushed hard about “insurance”, and Jerry played on that same anxiety to overrule the trade and complete the coup. On the other hand, I’m doubtful about Sam’s inspiration to play Nerlens at PF, mainly given Nerlens general intransigence.

So we can say we’re world champions when we win this year.

Good point. I’ve never thought of that

Feeling pretty juiced to watch an unusual amount of players this year. We've still got the only two Sixers who've been consistently worth watching for last couple years (Embiid+Maxey), then last year's surprise fun guy Oubre (though I'm not ruling out hating him by month 2 of the season), then PG (happy if he just hits jumpers and isn't Tobias Harris), then Caleb Martin (Sixers wing who can dribble AND hit a shot!), then Yabusele will be fun to follow even if he's not amazing, then RCIV is still an underdog super-athletic surprise, then McCain and Bona as rookies who have interesting things about them.

I'm even interested to watch Gordon and R Jackson, if for nothing else than people on here realizing they're kinda good (before expectations even out). And even KJ is much more fun to watch/follow than the average 11th man. Be glued to this first month.

It's on NBCSP and League Pass so I assume however you normally watch a game will work.

Ricky Council had his own dunk contest at the end

I think one of the most exciting storylines this season is how Yabusele or Drummond will fit in a double big lineup alongside Embiid.

Another key focus will be Ricky Council’s development. It seems like Embiid is subtly shifting the narrative toward McCain, perhaps as a way to deflect some of the pressure off Council and allow him to grow more naturally.

It’s gotta be Yabusele - I don’t think a Drummond/Embiid backcourt has any hope of holding up on defense.

My biggest curiosity is still Adem Bona. He has the athleticism & verticality to be a fit next to Embiid in double big lineups. Hopefully he develops enough to be a viable playoff player in limited minutes.

In this Nurse explains that Council has to figure out how to keep using his specific strengths on offense and focus every possession on defense. Pretty classic young player thing. Definitely has the tools to do it.

I only wish that homerism was the only problem with them. That's actually the least of it.
