An excellent point.

I dont see the point for Oladipo or Lowry. Someone like Lowry would make sense if we were contending right now (say we managed to get Kawhi for Simmons) and needed a pg. Then it would maybe makes sense to give up an asset, along with the players needed to match up salaries because the title would be a realistic possibility. Wasting assets to still come up short doesnt make sense imo. Lowry makes much more sense as a free agent.

No way would I give up Maxey and a 1st rounder for what I've seen from him.

Totally agree.

LloydFree wrote:A healthy Victor Oladipo is a better player than Bradley Beal.

I mean, okay. Oladipo of three years ago is a better player than Bradley Beal. What makes you think that's what we'd get?

I don't know if that's what we would get, because I don't have his medicals. But what he is right now is good enough. A healthy Oladipo gives you anything you need and is an easier fit than most, with this particular team.

1. Oladipo is a high level, 2-way wing.
2. Oladipo can create his own shot in crunch time.
3. Oladipo can be a secondary facilitator or run the offense.
4. Oladipo is a good catch and shoot, 3pt shooter.

Most importantly, he can do any one (or all) of these things while playing on a winning team with other players who require the ball. Every scorer isn't like that.

My only apprehension about Oladipo would be future injury concerns.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

With Embiid playing at a borderline MVP type level, I think Lowry makes them a legit contender if the only rotation piece they're losing in the process is Danny Green. We're talking an All Star caliber, veteran, 3 point chucking, defending, playmaker.

I give it 2 months tops til we can get Kyrie for pennies on the dollar and **** ton of motivation because Brooklyn didn’t believe they could do it with him and KD. Like it might sound insane but they have no role players and no picks. Green, Curry, Scott, thybulle and a first or two and a second or two would probably get you Kyrie. Who fits like a glove with Simmons by the way

Kyrie ain't showing up unless he's where he wants to be - he's his own no-trade clause cause he has the balls to just walk away

I dont think we can match salaries with just Green. And i doubt 35 year old Lowry coming halfway through the season, with no team chemistry, is the difference between the 1st/2d round exit people predict right now and a title. As i said he makes way more sense next year on a much more reasonable contract, without wasting assets and with enough time to build some chemistry.

Green plus the useless bench fodder expiring guys gets your there (Scott, Ferguson, ect.).

Lowry doesn't strike me as a guy that would have much difficulty fitting in. Particularly compared to the guy who we've spent the last few months drooling over, whom we'd need to completely rework our offense around.

And unless we're talking a S&T, the team has no means to acquire him in the off-season. He's due for a major salary reduction, but he ain't signing for the tax payer MLE.

Gotta just hope to go the San Antonio route with Duncan and a bunch of sub-star creators.

Just hope that Milton and Maxey can be our Manu and Tony. Go get more creators, though, too.

I dont think it will be so easy to fit Lowry immediately. We already have Embiid, Simmons and, to a lesser extend this year, Harris that need the ball. Then you remove one of the roleplayers for another guy that needs the ball and it is not so clear what role each one has on the team. And you have to give some assets to Toronto for half a year of that.

With Harden it was different, he is a much better player and you would remove Simmons from the lineup so the roles on the team would be pretty clear, other than Harris who would get less touches.

As i said, i would give assets for Lowry only if we are close to a title and we are in a win now situation where every year counts. Otherwise, i would wait and see if i can get him at a discount next year.

Looking at Maxey, Milton, and Curry I wonder if we should be looking for a 2-way wing instead of guard in a Simmons trade.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Those are kind of impossible to find. Difference makers anyway

MPJ? I imagine Ingram is untouchable. All the other ones worth a damn are at least 30.

Edit: Simmons/Green/Poirer for Harris/Porter/Milsap/FRP?

Milton/Maxey
Harris/Curry/Korkmaz/Joe
Porter/Thybulle/Ferguson
Harris/Milsap/Scott
Embiid/Howard/Bradley

I don't know a ton about MPJ, but isn't he terrible on defense?

Scoring F is the way to go, IMO.

Only one available is probably DeRozan.

Paul George might get to the market, eventually.

I would need a lot more back from SAS. George being 30 already and injury prone scare me.

Robert Covington is playing 30 minutes a game and averaging 7 points on 35% shooting in Portland. He's become a one of the worst starters in the NBA.

Or, hear me out, we're 11 games into a season.

Trading two first rounders for Covington and still having one of the worst defenses in the NBA is tough to swallow.

Wonder what kind of package Detroit would offer for Ben.
