Harper is elite at the rim and getting there. Has that snake-like ability to get to his spots. His jumper is a worry (as it always is with us tbf; We could get Steph Curry in his prime and there'd be a chance he just forgot how to shoot) for sure but again elite traits or skills are the thing you hang your hat on. He'd fill the Harden role but with actual rim pressure which is something we lack majorly right now. Has the girth (wakka wakka) to guard up in a pinch too imo.

By the way, no one in this thread has suggested trading Maxey. I believe Kobble only brought up Maxey’s shooting percentages to highlight potential fit concerns alongside Dylan Harper.

Watching Harper highlights he reminds me of Manu Ginobili with the way he moves through traffic and splits double teams. Let’s get the modern day Parker/Ginobili with Maxey/Harper.

Also not in a rush to trade McCain. I have my thoughts and hot takes on him

but we really need to stop trading our youth and give them time to grow and learn for once.

There is no rush anymore man.

Is Jaden Ivey a good comparison for Dylan Harper? They have similar length, both are strong finishers at the rim, post good steal and block rates, and have questions around their shooting upside. It’s not a perfect comp, but there are definitely some similarities.

So if it was me, I’d trade down to 5 for something I like + a future assets.
And then potentially trade down to 7 for a little something + a future assets, and at 7 take BPA.(I’d be okay with Kon/Noa/or whoever else falls out of the top and is left.

One of the reasons I prefer Tre Johnson. Having a reliable shooter at the SG spot is ideal. With both Grimes and Johnson, we'd put ourselves in position to always have that.

Yep, i thought Maxey was projecting to be a close to 40% shooter from 3, with good volume, but in the last couple of season he´s trending more to be a low 30% shooter, which is not what i was expecting. I may be wrong but i think i saw last year some stats saying that he still shoots well from CS 3s, but his off the dribble pullups 3s are pretty bad, but im not sure. He was really good shooting 3s from the corner too, and playing as a lead guard he almost never get that shot opportunities, so atleast with Harper, he would have that shot more often.

Maxey's catch and shoot percentage from 3 last year was 45%. He has been and continues to be an elite off-ball shooter. That's why he fits so well with Harper who can handle breaking down a defense and start the "rotation game" opening up a C&S 3 for Maxey.

This is such a good draft. The lottery is going to be littered with starters and some sleepers. I get for some (not me) the issues with not knowing who is worthy of being a top selection.... But I feel confident many in the lottery will get a real player.

I feel the opposite. It’s a fine draft at the top; Cooper aside, no easily identifiable superstars. Bad draft from beyond lottery. I'm notorious for not knowing who should be the top selection, so this year should be no different.

To clarify, you saying up to 14 is bad, or after 14. I might agree that it has gotten a weaker after the lottery. At so many different players have decided to stay due to NIL.

After the lottery. I think there are 3 All Star level players in the lottery (Flagg, Harper, Fears) with a chance of possibly one more. A bunch of decent starters. After the lottery is pretty piss poor in my opinion. Willing to be surprised though.

For sure if the price is right. Something like #3 for #5 + Filipowski (or #21), then #5 for #7 + Jones. Then take Noa at #7.

Total out: #3 + Oubre (salary filler)
Total in: #7 (Essengue) + Jones + Filipowski

Ben Simmons is sending you his 3 pt shooting workout videos!

In all seriousness, this video made me go back and check Tre's verticals at the combine b/c I kept waiting for him to "explode" and get above the rim or even look like he's getting some air. Let's not forget he's got a 6'10" swingspan so you'd think a 37.5 vert and 6-10 wing gets his hand with the ball easily above the rim.

I left that video with two things. Tre's vert at the combine is not his in-game vert. His in-game vert is a lot lower. Two, he still looks stiff in the hips and generally.
