I get that he's sidelined for a different reason right now but why did it take (or is still taking) his knee so long to get right? I think people are writing this guy off way too quick. I hope he can really show some improvements in his game when he's 100%.

According to medical staff, he's a full go so Id assume he is fully cleared of the knee.

Maybe its still bugging him, or he got more out of shape throughout the length of recovery....but if that was the case, id like to think he'd open his mouth and Dr's would do some looking into the situation.

What do you mean you were right?

The one game against the Magic where Okafor and Embiid played like 10 minutes together with Okafor getting guarded in the post by Vooch and Embiid guarded on the perimeter by Biyombo? Who do you think is playing PF is that scenario?

Are you sure you're talking about basketball here? You know that one game with the big, orange round ball that people bounce off a wood floor and try to put inside a metallic cylinder to score 'points'?

You consider a high post center a power forward.

He wrote himself off by being an offensive C that can't protect the rim or rebound.

Nic Vucevic and Greg Monroe (infinitely better basketball players than Okafor) are both tremendous rebounders. Both of them have been relegated to the bench by their respective teams for their inability to protect the rim. Now think about Okafor not being able to protect the rim or rebound. He's not even worthy of being in a rotation on a winning team.

Incredible post scoring talent that just lacks the IMPERATIVE skillset to play his own position. I'm writing him off, putting it in the envelop, adding the stamp and driving it to a mailbox.

Statics show that Jahlil Okafor is at his weakest when scoring out of the low post compared to when he is facing up away from the low post. But don't let the facts deter you...

Statistics show that isolation scoring in the low post is less efficient than other situations (pick and roll, face up, etc) for just about every player in the NBA. Nice job...

Still explain to me how when one player is standing in the low post, being guarded by their opposing center, and the other player is out towards at the top of the key at the three point line, being guarded by their power forward, that the former player is "playing PF."

I'll wait...

Matt Harpring used to guard Iverson for the entire game, is Iverson somehow not a guard because of that? :noway:
Also, the first part was about PRODUCTIVITY, not efficiency.

Most players are more productive facing up than working back to the basket in the low post. Embiid included.

If Iverson played in the post and fought for post position and waited for entries all game, yes, he would not be playing a guard role on offense.

If Iverson spent his time on the defensive end banging in the paint against post players and fighting for rebounds instead of harassing guards on the perimeter, then yes, he would not be playing as a guard.

I don't understand why this is hard for you. Your position is dictated by where on the floor you play, what role you occupy, and the kind of players you match up against.

When Okafor and Embiid played together vs the Magic, the position on the floor he played (low post) is typically for centers, the role he occupied (defending their low post players and scoring in the low post) is usually done by centers, and the kind of players he matched up against (Vucevic) are centers.

Yet by your logic he was playing PF...

Like I said, maybe this 'basketball' game isn't for you.

Conspiracy Theory: Team has Jah on some radical weight loss program that would allow him to play more 4 with Noel back into the line-up by the time he plays.

*likely in that scientific lab in Qatar where they hide the real damaged body of Embiid.

LOL you said Embiid was a PF because he was guarded by Biyombo on the perimeter.
So I guess that Embiid has been a PF the entire season even including tonight against Anthony Davis. :noway:

I want to point out this play against the Magic at 2:10 where Okafor received a pass twice on the same possession while in the high post. Embiid was on the opposite side of floor in the low post. Okafor scored...

With how big he is you could get him down probably 5 pounds a week. Put him on a protein only diet and have him shooting jumpers for hours on end. In a couple weeks bring him back at 255 or less

Wow one play!

Did you fail to notice that it was a pick and roll situation where Okafor came out from the post?

Like I said, this 'basketball' thing is clearly not for you. Enjoy replying with more nonsense.

Great, Okafor can't even win when he shows versatility exiting the low post into the high post receiving the ball out of a HIGH pick and roll putting the ball on the deck for the score WHILE EMBIID is on the floor in the low post. In YOUR world Okafor is flawed for scoring out of the high pick and roll with Embiid on the floor.

Perhaps it has something to do with Okafor's ability to fight for low post position. It's not really "low post" when he's pushed towards the three point line, I'll imagine that has something to do with his relative poor efficiency from the post in comparison with his ISO/face up efficiency.

I think the statisticians wouldn't count that particular possession as a low post scoring attempt. I would think that they would calculate it according to where he catches the basketball.

Do you bite the bullet and just move Okafor to a full time 4?

would that hurt his trade value if teams "know" he is out of position?

if it works out - there goes the logjam.
if it doesn't - he or nerlens goes?

Cov-Ersan - Joel
Saric - Jah - Noel
Holmes gets some of Jah/Noel's minutes

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
