Bad game for Tobias. Still have no problem keeping him as the third guy. It sucks he played like ****, but he has largely been the face of consistency for us in the playoffs. We needed the second star to take over, but he doesn't exist.

This is precisely what I’ve been saying for years about Ben Simmons, that he doesn’t play well enough to fill that role offensively, and that it keeps the team from being competitive in situations like this.

I’m just going to take this opportunity to once again, annoyingly, say that I told y’all so that:

-the trade for this guy was terrible (bring back Shamet!)
-dude is a trash #1 option on lottery team
-you’re not winning anything with this guy

Maybe if there wasnt a 6'11 240 pound traffic cone always in the paint tobias's post up and midrange game would be more effective

Most yall still cant wrap ur heads around how much harder bum simmons makes it for his teammates. Its truly insame how much he hurts every player on this team in the half court

Tobias was awful, but as a 3rd guy that has a legit guard instead of simmons, he is fine next to embiid and fits well

No one in their right mind should max out an average third option.

Been saying it all along his archetype is not very valuable. Anything over 20 mill on a contending team is an overpay especially on a long contract.

He’s getting top ten type money. Huge finesse job one of the biggest I’ve ever seen.

In totality it’s his contract that‘s the biggest problem bar none. Not the player itself the contract associated to it.

Don’t overpay All - Stars (Kemba) definitely don’t overpay a non all star. They can be replaced fairly seamlessly.

There’s endless amount of young talent across the board striving for opportunities.

Heck NAW right now is way more valuable then Harris will ever be at that contract.

He’s a Morris twin who reads books. He’s had a good playoff run but he can’t be our second scorer.

Disagree. He's been good in the playoffs, but the last 2 games are the same old Tobias from years past. A guy we can't rely on when the pressure is on. Which makes his play earlier in the playoffs meaningless.

I have no doubt Morey will dump him first chance he gets. He's paid like the 2nd or 1st star, yet his performance when it matters is of a min salary role player.

We're going nowhere paying this guy $40M/yr.

20 points on 53% shooting? I agree he's not worth his contract, but he wasn't the problem in that game. If he kept his consistency up last night, we obliterate them.

Huh? Our $40M man had 4 points on 2-11 FGs in 38 mins in a MUST WIN game at home.

Tobias needs to be flamed just as much as Ben for the abomination last night.

And the game before he was a total non-factor while the team proceeded to piss away an 18 point lead down the stretch.

Get him the F out of here.

I'm talking about the previous game per your "last 2 games are the same old Tobias" comment. He definitely deserves critique for this past game, but I don't make personnel decisions based on the last game they played. He has been the one consistently good player in the playoffs for us up until last night. You can't be too mad when the presumed 3rd best offensive player has a dud of a game. It sucks, but I hold the other two (Ben and Embiid) to a higher standard.

I edited my comment to reflect that Tobias was a total nonfactor the previous game when it mattered in the 2nd half, while we were pissing away an 18 point lead. He didn't do his job in game 4, and he was a total disgrace in game 5.

Not a surprise at all, because he's NOT a star. He's NOT a difference maker. He's a nice player who doesn't move the needle. To be stuck paying him $40M/yr is an embarrassment and a disgrace.

I have no doubt Morey will get rid of him the first chance he gets.

I think john collins(whos not a great defender) has figured out how to defend him. Like i have been saying about tobias game. If you can put a big forward on him who can stay in front of him you neutralize him offensively pretty easily.

I actually think the Hawks in general has figured out how to beat us:

1) Let Embiid get his points, he'll slow down as the game goes on (especially with his knee).
2) Shut down Tobias because his quiet 20 points has kept us in games or even won them for us.
3) Let Ben do anything he wants as long as it's not near the rim. He's a non-factor on offense.

So they still double Embiid, cut off any angles for Tobias to drive, and let the rest of our hilarious offense do its thing.

He’s paid way too much to be the third guy. Also he does not play a game that is conducive to winning in the modern NBA. Dribbles into long twos and actively avoids contact. That’s why he gets his shots swatted all the time. That guy has needed to go since he got here.

Blame Elton Brand. Don’t blame Tobi for securing his bag.

Of course. No one in their right mind would turn down being overpaid by $80M.

The damage done to this franchise by the totally incompetent leadership of Colangelo and Brand can never be undone.

Yep, another situation where I was critical of the front office. It's almost like this was all very easy to see if some a-hole on a forum can see how stupid every move was in real time.

Yep. Hawks aren't even shook when a player like Seth or Kork get theirs through 3 quarters. They know that if they turn the screws on Defense and get physically, the Sixers will choke.
