At least we have Simmons this year.

Until he isn't. Everything this organization says needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Remember everything was cool with fultz? Then it was 3 games then indefinitely.

Ok, well do you want to go on record? Because I'll bet you anything he plays Thursday.

Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
Yeah he is not playing because they are concerned about the altitude of playing in Utah. They are going with the mantra that even Joel has mentioned several times this year that is "When you are tired the chances of getting injured are increased".
At the moment Joel has the lung capacity of a 10 pack a day smoker. It's probably the smart decision. Having Richaun back helps as well. Maybe Jah... haha never mind.

Incredible.
What did we expect, that he plays every game except back-to-backs? Do I need to remind everybody that he's the face of the franchise and occasionally resting him makes perfectly sense with his injury-plagued history? Personally I found it surprising that he's played so many minutes per game after entering the season out of shape. Him playing 8 out of every 10 games this season would be a God's gift.

I think it's normal that he takes his time off during the season.
But I would think they would keep him out of the SAC game (we can win that without him) instead of this game.

I don't think the league cares unless its a national tv game.
100% this. And it needs to be repeated a few hundred times so people get how it works.

They definitely factored the high altitude at Utah into the decision.
No use playing him out there if he is going to be gasping for air 3 minutes into the game. His body is not up to it yet.

Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
ah I didnt think about the altitude thing.. this makes more sense now
was low key worried about some pain he might have had, but this is probably exactly what it is
I imagine when we play in Denver they will hold him out as well

Yes. It has to be high altitude. Cause he’s been off since last Friday. 3 and a half days off is plenty of rest. Just the way the scheduled worked out. Like you said. Denver he probably wouldn’t play either regardless of back to back

This was obvious. He isn't flying all around the court like he did last season. He also doesn't have the same spring in his step.

we all knew, that he won't be able to play 82 games and that we should rest him somestimes. Now we sit him one game and everyone freaks out. He only played 31 games in 3 seasons and he is our potential FP. Calm down guys, he will play like a beast...in this years playoffs.

I can handle him sitting the odd game. Its obviously not perfect but surely you can see that this guy needs to be treated differently.

Good move resting him. He's super injury prone as it is, but now he's got all this added weight that only increases the risk of injury. Taking days off is a necessity for him at this point.

Lol yeah bet anything on a sports team forum. He very well could play Thursday but for anyone to not second guess things this front office puts out is naive. They've proven time and time again to be untrustworthy.

There's no 10 pack a day smoker in the world who could move Joel's 7'2", 280 pound ass up and down an NBA court at all.
It's game conditioning and a little bit of weight. These things take a few weeks and it's hard to work on them if you don't get court time. He'll be fine.

Yeah, now that we won it doesn't seem like such a big deal. lol
I understand that he is going to be a healthy scratch for some games, and that there is a whole load management strategy. My initial disappointment was because it didn't seem to make any sense to do it after a 4 game layoff, but the Utah air is a good enough reason for me. I DO subscribe to the theory that fatigued players are more at risk for injury.
