WHAT? :o I didn't even really see he was also throwing it through Noels legs.. wow.. just..wow.

I don't think he did. He threw it behind his back not through his legs

Wich would be equally as impressive considering the Angle.

It is going around Noel, but what is so impressive to me is that he had the instinct to attempt it, and the physical ability to pull it off and make it look routine in realtime.

NBA point guards do that wraparound pass sometimes, but it is usually to dump it off to a player right under the basket. Doing it to throw it out to someone on the 3 point line is a much higher degree of difficulty. It's an amazing play.

That's cool, but that just shows how messed up the modern NBA is. Mid range jump shots are hardly a part of the game anymore, and it is sad.

Yet another reason why I want the 3 point line moved back. I want dribble pull ups back in the nba.

I know. I can't stand half the shots or in some cases more than half the shots are 3 pointers. Move the line back 3 feet and either get rid of the corner 3 or make the court wider and make the 3 the same distance all the way around. You shouldn't be able to get the same number of points for shooting a corner 3 being shorter.

It also reinforces what we already knew.. Ben's whole Game is refreshingly old School. Most modern Players will hoist threes even when they are not that good yet(Lonzo for example.. He should really not take over 5 Threes a Game unless he starts making them at a respectable rate but he is stubborn at keeps taking them.. and he is just an example.

And to your Point about moving the 3pt Line back.. yeah i thought about that the last years here and there. It's obvious the Players are getting better and better at Shooting.. Its early but if the Season ended today we'd have over 40 guys shooting 45% or better from Three.. If at any Point is sustainable the Line has to be moved back.. The NBA at some point will want to stop that every Shot is a Three... Threes where exciting for a while but when for example even great athletes on a Fast break will never Dunk anymore only to take a three Fans will be pissed.. they want their Show.

Maybe guys like Ben and Giannis who both propably will be faces of the NBA for the next 10 + years can refocus the Game

Ben Simmons is so much fun to watch. The scary part is, you can come away so amazed at some of the stuff he does, yet know there is still soooo much un-tapped potential in him. The ceiling is sky high for him.

A few too many turnovers today but otherwise he was superb.

Can anyone explain to me why Ben's on/off numbers is average?

Playing heavy minutes against other team's best line-ups. Then he cops it when Embiid is sitting and he has a sub-optimal line-up around him.

Just an observation, not sure if the data supports it.

Mentioned in the other thread - seems to have been the Simmons-Saric pairing, without Embiid. 125.8 DRtg in 60 minutes of that. That’s actually a lot of minutes this early into the season too, so it would have a noticeable effect on his numbers.

I am baffled that Ben plays even better than i dreamed he would. He is hitting Mid Range Jumpers NOW.. not in 2 years..

I knew he was going to be great but i didnt expect him to be such an efficient Scorer right away or as good of a Defender.
His hook shots, layups and runners are actually working despite many(even here) said they wont work against NBA Defenders.
And his 10-15 Foot Jumpshot has been the suprise of the year for me. It actually looks good and he makes a very decent ammount of them.

Once he gets his FT% up into even the low 70s i dont have any complain left. He overall is exeeding the expectation of one of his biggest fans(myself).

I am officially amazed.

At first glance, anyone else think he was referring to not being worried about Fultz and instead being worried about our front office?

Yeah, just move the line back 6 inches on the sides, and a foot or two at the top of the curve, and it will have a meaningful impact on the difficulty of the shot. The best shooters will still shoot it at a high percentage, but the average shooters wouldn't, and it will change the strategy.

To me, you don't want power forwards and centers standing around at the 3 point line waiting to shoot the 3. If they do that they will have to be really good shooters, and there will be a larger cost imposed on them from a rebounding standpoint because they would be farther away from the rim.

If teams are shooting more 3's than foul shots then we have a problem, and it is NOT good for the sport.

This is cool because it’s not even specific to rookies. First player to average these numbers in seven games since Scottie Pippen.
