Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
because I am bored I shall engage.
People constantly act like they come from the future with the "Morey handled this wrong" takes. You really can't judge how he handled this until the trade is made. I don't understand the logic that if Morey traded Ben for scraps at the time of the draft, suddenly everything would have been perfect...when more than likely the same people would have also been going "man Morey am washed lolololol". So it just reads to me as people are either purely Ben fans or fans of other teams who need us to **** this up more than actual sixers fans (and not the ones who want to go scorched earth on Ben for whatever reason; that is the illogical side of fandom that is just purely in the moment). And to be honest, who gives a **** what those two groups think....lol
Again I think the best trade would have been during the draft for a top 10 pick if possible...but thats just me as a person who loves the idea of stacking youth and hoping one or two pans out...I also think Morey is still asking for too much for Ben. He is not the god king that some make him out to be. He is very failable. Most GMs are only as good as their last move IMO. Technically Morey is on a winning streak with the early success of Niang, Drummond, and technically Korkmaz lol. But he will earn his money on however this Ben trade pans out. I don't think we can get Brown for Ben. Makes no sense on the Celtics side of things. Same goes for Ingram (that might have be a 3 way with the Wolves...but why would the Pels do that lol). Fox is the most "realistic" atm but even that idk. I still say a Spurs package is the one that currently makes the most sense and that may have been obtainable during the draft...which would make all of this a waste of time....but a waste of time that didn't really effect much. I too thought the team would slog through the season waiting for this trade as new Klutch leaks hurt the vibes...that hasn't happened so far. It might now but thanks to COVID it won't be because we don't have Ben. SO ATM unless Morey ends up with the Fultz fake 1st special (ironically ended up pretty good for us lol) most of the damage that waiting could have brought ....simply has not happened (yet). SO I don't really get the angst at this stage. Dec 15 is probably when things can start up again..and you can see some teams begin to get antsy now actually with this Boston leak (which is totally probably more so to see if someone else bites and tries to "beat" the Ben package; which is exactly what a good GM does).
Basically I currently don't see any downsides on waiting and thus Morey is doing exactly what he should do. This could easy backfire in a week or so; the final result could be lame; and who knows what else..but as of right now? Feeling pretty good as a Sixers fan in regard to this...doubt it lasts too long but eh cross that bridge when we get to it. As stated the only person who benefits from a trade ASAP is Ben....so unless you are on his payroll...not sure why you are so mad about things.

Edit: I believe this account is not credible and this may have been satire--problem is that it's not good satire because I can totally see it happening.
I think TheNBACenfral might be the giveaway here.

Lol, thanks for staying on topic, Mr President. My brain is in a bit of a haze because I've been "smoking that Morey" and going through extreme bouts of depression and embarrassment over the Ben Simmons situation.
I don't care about your specific opinion; it's clear you're here to bait and antagonize. I care about the people who want to have a normal discussion in good faith.
It's always interesting how skilled people are at avoiding a tough discussion then shooting down the person who brings up the tough conversation rather than have the tough conversation itself.
Don't let this one go over your head and your sensitivities entangled. But I see an interesting parallel to the fallout about CRT taught in schools. People would almost always prefer to avoid a topic rather than to look in the mirror.
Anyways, I care about basketball man. But to you, I'm just here bait and antagonize? I mean, really could you take it more personally? At the core of it, I'm sharing my opinion on and opinion board that I think Morey is a dunce of a GM and he's handling this with as much unprofessionalism as Simmons is. The 6ers fan ran a star out of town and that start also isn't without blame for not being mentally tough regarding the criticism. All around it's a bad scenario. I said what I said. You cared - you responded. Thanks for playing with me.
The issue isn't your opinion about Morey, it's your opinions about Sixers fans, aka the people that post on this board every day. Not sure why you think just coming in here and saying stuff like that is ok, or would go well, but knock it off. If you want to debate people for specific things they said that's fine, but just going off on "Sixers fans" is a non-starter.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
Simmons did the run for the exit, the blame is on him pure and simple. There is no the fans were mean, Joel didn't say everything was the east, Doc didn't say I could be a championship PG defense, none of that. If not being utterly babies and coddled is what is required to make Ben-emo happy, and I have always been a Simmons fan and defender until it became indefensible, then it is his issue and not ours, Doc's, Joel's or Morey's, it is his fault and that of Klutch for not seeing the huge gulf between his situation where he is running away from a winner and that of guys like AD or Harden where they were later in their careers, nearer to the end of their contacts and seeking to escape either a perennial losing team or one about to go the rebuild route. Simmons is running away from winning, even the talking heads on ESPN talk about how weird that is.

are celtics fans that delusional?
"I'd do Brown/filler for Simmons/Maxey/Curry/1st/pick swaps. People sleep on Curry...he's a knock down shooter... Maxey gives Boston a stud backcourt prospect....May make it easier to move Smart down the line"

i mean i imagine it would take a lot to swap Simmons for Brown. Is Maxey/Curry/1st the difference? i dunno, but i also dont think thats outrageous for them to expect that.

Brown is a good player and it’s a rare trade where both teams are potentially better
Won’t happen though

I don't like jaylen brown at all,the only good thing about him is that he isn't on a max contract.
Really dislike Jaylen Brown. Overrated defense, mediocre shotcreation, no passing. Shooting seems too good to be true. And he's a bad teammate and insubordinate employee. The type of personality that front offices, coaches, and teammates alike can't stand.

He’s decent and fits the mold that we need (wing scorer/defender) he is injury prone.
Blueprint is made so Brown is the player to go for imo.
I don’t really care what happens with the Ben deal I want Harris gone by deadline lol.

No games the NBA has to do it’s due diligence, Sixers are just following protocol.

They need a breakup (possibly it was Tatum or Brown pick one).
Both players work for each team. Win/Win
Pritchard
Langford
Tatum
Simmons
Horford
Has very high potential.
Maxey
Curry
Brown
Harris
Embiid
Still some overlaps between Harris/Brown but hey beggars can’t be choosers here. Move Harris for a peanut and everything is okay.
So you didn’t like my potential lineup of Maxey Curry Ingram Harris Embiid in Fantasy thread, but you like your lineup of Maxey Curry Brown Harris Embiid.

My bet would be its about time one of the GMs of this teams will panic and Morey can take advantage of it.
Add Celtics to your list
I did, i just don’t think they will want to trade J.Brown already. Seems like a risky move to make for Brad Stevens.
Boston fans hate Simmons, Stevens knows all his weeknes, so I highly doubt that type of deal will happen. Although I love J.Brown and I’m rooting for Celtics to fail.
I guess I will root for Celtics to fail harder lol.
I would love Jaylen Brown for Simmons, and I can’t believe people want Dejounte Murray more then Jaylen Brown.
