if Joe Johnson's report is correct, then i don't see how the Sixers go any other route besides surgery.

depressing if true

Said we should have an update within the next week and possibly even today.

He did not say he was told this from anyone from the Sixers directly or from any doctors. Just some buzz, so this is not confirmed or anything by anyone.

This is the report that's riling everyone up.

It's not even a report.

I may be in the minority but I've never heard of Jon Johnson before today. It does make sense though, to a guy with absolutely no medical training.

Jeez I swear I would give left nut for this guy to have a healthy career. He has to sign for 15 years though before the testicle is removed.

If they announce Embiid's status today or tomorrow or by Wednesday shouldn't that be good news? Don't people usually report bad news on a Friday or Saturday? Also wouldn't Hinkie think it would be best to keep Embiid out of the limelight at PCOM and not have him walking around there and dapping up Okafor? That would create too much buzz and give people hope that he might be better. As tight lipped and as conservative and as much as Hinkie plays things close to his vest he would have to know Embiid out there would create false hope if he has to have surgery.

The longer it takes them to release info, the worst news I expect because it means they're trying to figure out the best course of action.

The worst case scenario would be a re-break, we know that didn't happen. So the best guess would be he's not healing at the rate they thought he would. There's other ways to manage that besides more surgery. Fingers crossed...

If I remember right didn't he play flag football or something after he fractured it last year?, because he didn't really have any pain? That's the scary part about stress fractures, and no matter what he says you don't want a Jrue Holiday, Andrew Toney, situation where down the road it gets worse cause he played on it without a lot of pain. Surgery would suck but hopefully that's the route they take if that's the best case scenario in the long term.

They really should not be keeping us in the dark like this for so long. It's **** rude. We want to know.

If Hinkie wasn't such a freaking beast himself, and I couldn't see this team being a long term contender even without Embiid, I might even downright quit liking this team. NM, cant do that, but I can get mad and post hateful things.

That what you want Hinkie?

My source tells me Embiid has been taking one-footed jumpers in practice. He suspects news of amputation within a week.

He's 7' 2" now, or was, so the nub should only take him down to like 6' 10". He can still play.

Thank you. Now if the result is that he only needs another surgery it will be a step up from your source so I will feel better about the news. I will take surgery over amputation any day.

Uh oh, Embiid suffers setback per Woj

Post#972 » by Ericb5 » Sun Jul 5, 2015 6:22 pm

Since the guy admitted that he hadn't talked to anyone with the team or any medical people then what he knows is PURE speculation.

How could anyone say that it will never get better without surgery if they haven't talked to any of the people that would know.

I'm not saying that we aren't going to get bad news soon or that he definitely won't require surgery. I'm just saying that we don't know anything right now.

We know that he feels great and that he didn't re-break it.

We also know that they saw something on an MRI, and he is out of summer league, and the Sixers are gathering as much information as they can.

Outside of that, we know nothing.

We also know that normal basketball activity degrades that area. Not a great sign after a year. Logically, you'd think that means that additional rest isnt going to strengthen it enough for NBA play. Hope I'm wrong. But think we're heading for a bone graft.

Bob Cooney has been spinning it the other way saying the feeling he gets at PCOM is that Embiid is fine and expects him to be back on the court soon so i wouldnt believe that clown on the radio.

Have you spoken to your guy who's close to Embiid within the past 3 days? If so then what did they say?

Fingers crossed. I think Sam Hinkie is too smart to allow false hope to bubble over with pics of Embiid hanging out at practice. If surgery was an option, I feel like they would have put a walking boot on it immediately. But I know nothing about so just gotta play the waiting game until an official announcement comes. Hopefully that will be tomorrow!

Hey! Calm down, you. We're ready to hoist you upon our broad shoulders if you're correct.

Just be patient and hope you're not wrong. I have already put in an interboard request for extermination for that scenario.
