I think it was always very wishful thinking to expect him to be in the playoff rotation, even if he came back at Christmas.

He was a raw kid first round pick. Those guys usually aren’t playoff ready. Add in his injuries and he is just too far behind.

I hope for health and participation in summer league, and then getting ready for his rookie year next season.

so Elton, just a couple weeks back, talked about Zhaire maybe making it to this year's playoffs. a couple of days ago, when Zhaire was working out with the team, Brett (according to Keith..and others?) said it don't look like its going to happen this year. so they would get him going with the Bluecoats. now he's working out with the Sixers again, and...maybe traveling with them this weekend? it seems like the team is being cautious about breaking him in, certainly cautious about expectations, BUT have a definite interest in getting the kid comfortable and familiar with the current roster. or at the very least, allowing the coaching staff to keep a close eye on him as he's progressing. what they don't seem to be doing is simply assigning him to the Bluecoats for the rest of the year and outright holding off on him working out with the Sixers until next year.

Every time I see Mikal Bridges play, I chuckle at the thought that Phoenix traded two 1st round picks to get him.

I lose it every time Bill Simmons says Hey, couldn't the Sixers use a guy like Mikal Bridges right now? I mean, what are they doing!?

Dude's averaging 8 points as a 22 year old.

I'm glad we made the trade, but in fairness, a guy giving us 8 off the bench consistently and playing decent defense would be an upgrade over our current bench. It isn't like we couldn't use his skill set right now.

He's not consistent though. Like he had 3 points against the Cavs last night.

Also if he were coming off our bench he probably wouldn't be averaging 28 minutes per game. He basically scores at the same rate Chandler did, a worse rate than Simmons has so far. Also lower than Ennis was in Houston.

He'd be good for us especially with his defense and especially with being on the rookie deal going forward, but I don't think he'd be that much better this year that what we have.

Talk radio drills nonsense into people's heads. Even after watching Bridges look like nothing, the talk radio crowd is still convinced Brett Brown is an idiot for trading away Robert Covington's replacement. LOL.

I don't get the Bridges animous.

He's been an excellent defender since he stepped foot on an NBA court and he's hitting threes at a very respectable rate. He's the plug and play 3&D player he was advertised as. Yeah, his scoring production is pretty garbage and he doesn't really have much upside as a scorer. I'd hate to break it to our fanbase, but Zhaire Smith embodies those qualities as well. Without the refined jumper than Bridges has. Or the length to guard up several positions that Bridges has. Between the two of them, I'd rather have Bridges.

I wouldn't have traded two 1st round picks for Zhaire Smith either. But using a top 10 pick on a player like Mikal Bridges, who clearly at his best is nothing but a role player was a waste. And we were saved by the stupidity of the former Suns GM for trading us two 1sts for a player that doesn't make a bit of difference.

I still think you're being harsh on Bridges. He's 4th in the entire draft in VORP generated so far despite being on a garbage team. His upside is nonexistent, but he also has no bust potential whatsoever. I don't even think he'll wind up being that overdrafted at #10. I think he'll surely be one of the best 12-16 players in this draft (with ease). And could rise even higher if some blue chippers bust or underperform.

Drafts don't yield a lot of good players. Sometimes it's nice to just get one of the no-brainers like Mikal Bridges.

There are Mikal Bridges' in every draft, picked outside of the lottery. What he gives you on his best day can easily be obtained every year, with a Cap exception, and the vet would play the role better. I'd rather take a chance on a more volatile player that may bust, but has a chance to be something special. You don't have to waste lottery picks on that.

But we wouldn't have gotten Tobias Harris than.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
