Might be time to start thinking about Grines S&T options.

Re: 2025 Fantasy Trade Thread
I don't think so. Firstly, it hard caps them at the first apron. They would probably have to unload more contracts for this besides the fact it would male them a worse team. Secondly, how many teams have cap space for the theoretically possibility of being able to make a deal? Is there even one out there?the_process wrote:Might be time to start thinking about Grines S&T options.

Sending out a S&T does not hard cap them at all. Receiving a S&T hard caps you at the 1st apron.
As far as who wants him? Not sure. CHA could use him. Looks like HOU could, too. Memphis?

I’ve thought about the S&T with Grimes. That is very likely to not happen.

So Memphis is going to give up KCP, who they gave up Bane to get, plus a 1st in a loaded draft, for Grimes??
Utah is going to give up a very promising kid who showed out in summer league for expiring garbage and a mid-late 1st? What are the chances that pick nets a player as good as Filipowski?
Trades need to make at least a little sense for the other teams.

KCP was considered bad salary in that trade and a reason Orlando gave up so many unprotected picks.

I hear you, but he was also a very productive player in DEN, thus the bad contract. Still, Memphis is going to give him up along with a 1st in what is supposed to be a great draft, for Grimes? KCP for Grimes is one thing, but the pick is a little much.

Re: 2025 Fantasy Trade Thread
Okay, but they didn't give up Bane to get KCP. They gave up Bane and took on KCP's salary in exchange for 4 unprotected first round picks.

Sending out a player via S&T and receiving back a salary (whether directly or by using the T.E. created by the transaction) hard caps you at the 2nd apron.
A S&T seems really unlikely.
Signing him with the thought of trading him later feels possible (once BYC goes away)

KCP is negative value. Getting Grimes is an upgrade to boot. And their pick doesn't necessarily project to the lottery. They could just as easily win 55 games as 35.

I'm not arguing with you guys about KCP's value, but along with a 1st it just seems a lot to pay for a guy off of half a season as a tank commander. At least KCP has had decent seasons with the Nuggets and Lakers although he might be washed at this point.

I like Isaac, but that's an absolute insane trade valuation of a guy that's capable of 15-18 minutes a night physically.
Also, just zero interest in moving McCain. Cutting out the Magic would be kinda interesting since Carter and 2 1sts (1 with really high value) is a lot of value.

Yep. I was gonna say cut out Orlando and I would consider this.
Sixers need frontcourt help but Isaac ain't it.
Alternatively, if you could tweak this deal to where the Sixers end up with Keegan Murray and a 1st for McCain and Oubre; that would be interesting as well.

I'd want to get a much better look at Jared McCain, like a full season, before I trade him.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

Hell no to trading McCain.
