im not worried about hack-a-simmons. i believe in ben and his confidence in pressure situations. let him get a free ride to the ft line, if anything it gives him free reps to shoot 15 footers

There are going to be days when "Hack a Simmons" works and then there are going to be days like he showed in College where he went to the line and shot at a decent % at very high volume. They say if you deliberately foul someone you need them to miss both for it to be a worthwhile tactic. If they make 1 of the 2 then that's better than you would score in normal possession down the floor every time.

He definitely ain't Shaq that's for sure. Shaq would never be capable of having 15-20 free throw shooting nights like Simmons had.

Once Simmons finds his groove at the line (for a given game) he will be fine, so they shouldn't put him there too much.

As I've said before though, someone tell him to bend his knees.

and get his hand right behind the ball rather than on an angle. Even when he makes shots it's always slightly left or right... hardly ever in the middle of the basket... and that's all due to the fact his hand isn't right behind the ball.

He will get there. Lebrons shot took like 8 years in the league to really get tweaked

So ummmmmmmm can we finally put this who ridiculous is Ben Simmons a PG or point forward to bed now? I think ALL of us have seen that he's a real PG. Not a point forward. Not a sometimes PG but a full time real true PG who does PG things all the time. Like I have been saying all offseason Ben Simmons is our PG. Finally. End of debate.

Ya, if he keeps attacking like he's been lately, he is a true PG

They will be a day when he's considered the best player in the NBA in my opinion. I'm guessing when he's about 25 or 26 years old. We have found our two Hall of Fame caliber talents now it's just a matter of adding pieces around them to win a title.

I'm not sure why people were so reluctant to call Ben a PG before. I'd say he has more guard skills than forward skills. The thing he does most like a forward is rebound. He'd be so wasted as a pure PF or even a point forward. He even guards the other teams PG at times. The man is a point guard and a pretty damn good one at that.

Simmons shows he has touch when he pulls up, momentum from his legs and his lower body angle is much more natural than at the free throw line. So infuriating to see that his mechanics at the line are ****ed up after a year off.

I wouldn't say he covers point guards most the time. Even last night he started on Schroeder but Brown finished with Bayless on him because Ben had trouble staying in front of the guy.

Would be nice to get someone to slot in that can cover the tougher of the 1/2 matchup and hit 3’s. Nothing flashy just a 3/D type guy. Neither Dario nor Bayless fit with the starters. Obviously pbev is no longer an option. Something of the sort though. Kind of wish baze had a better contract

Everyone had trouble staying in front of him but Simmons held his own a few times and got beat by him a few times.

I don't think Ben should be covering PGs most of the time, but it's good to know that he can guard them and hold his own. I think he did alright on Schroeder. He shouldn't be on the quicker PGs like Wall, but on certain possessions his length and quickness allow him to guard PGs fairly well.

That's why it's great to have him at PF defensively because switching isn't an issue. Embiid + 4 good perimeter defenders is the way to go.

Absolutely. He is the first true point guard of that size maybe ever considering that he is even a couple inches bigger than magic.

I think Lebron could do it, but he generally doesn’t do it so I don’t count him.

He definitely covers point guards more than the naysayers thought that he would.

He plays almost exactly like Lebron does in terms of his usage, where he get's the ball, and the majority of the lineups he plays with so no conversation hasn't been decided and this point guard thing is still mostly novelty/marketing.

Is it fair to compare ben to the prime grant hill rather than lebron? I think lebron does not have the handles that ben have. Lebron uses speed with power to create his drives to the basket. Grant hill is more of a finese player.

How is it novelty/marketing? If Simmons isn't the PG then who is? If Simmons were 6'5 doing the same exact thing would it be a novelty?

I come in peace. Simmons looks great to me, and with Embid 76ers are fun to watch. I like Fultz as well if you let him develop. It won't be long before we're back to 1981-83 and for those as old as me, 1966-68. A great all time rivalry about to reemerge from a deep sleep. Just to spice it up, why not cut Okafor and see if we can make something of him?
