Re: Joel Embiid - The Prophecy is Realized
Wonder if knee soreness was aggravated by over compensating his knees with the back injury. These injuries all add up.
Is it the left knee he had surgery on? He’s just too massive of a player to have a long career. Use him wisely and hope he makes it next 3-4 years at peak level.

Edit: see Portland game as well.
The heat tanked first round last year?
They brought embiid back against the Heat much earlier than they wanted to.
No they did not

Shame we won't get to see the big five gel together more other the next week but it will be good to see Bolden get back into the rotation as I think he's been harshly treated by Brown lately.

He is also not a good fit with Ben, and I don't think we are good enough if he is our 1st option, he relies too much on drawing fouls, this doesn't work as much in playoffs and especially against strong and smart defenders like Horford.
In most teams, he would still command having a team built around him, but we are different, we have another hall of fame caliber player in Simmons, we can build around him, we also have Tobias and even Jimmy if needed, I say trade him for a huge package of players or for a star that fit Simmons better while his value is still at his peak. Nobody will agree, but I honestly think we would be an improved team and increase our chances at a championship.
U aren’t gonna to get even remotely long term value for embiid. U get one year rentals in Leonard or Davis would aren’t guaranteed to come band. U get kuzma/ball/ingram for embiid.
I actually proposed that trade to lakers and lakers fans will take that trade any day. It may work. Embiid short term with Lebron plus another star in LA gives Lebron the best chance to win now.
Sixers win by subtraction. Assuming Simmons improved more. Embiid peak is gonna to be short. That I will agree. His body is just too big to be playing this many minutes or games. 30-32 minutes. Playing 65 games a season is optima to stretch his career.
Why would you not get long term value for Embiid? he is a star and is locked for many years no?

No what I meant is spurs wanted embiid or Simmons for one year rental in Leonard. Sixers end up with Leonard who may not resign and end up with nothing long term for embiid.
Same with Anthony Davis. One year rental.
Unless u want Bradley Beal for embiid. That’s about as long term asset u would get back for embiid.

You could get Towns for Embiid I think. Fits better what we want to do.

We’ve had the discussion before. Towns still bad at rim protection. Even with butler out of Minnesota . He’s stat padder. Let Simmons do his thing if u want embiid gone from Philly . But the paint is gonna to be wide open even with towns in the middle. People talk if embiid is slacking on defense this year. But towns isn’t gonna to offer much resistance either. And his offense (which is supposed his best attribute) efficiency is down. Playing less minutes. Shooting more. Making less percentage of shots with more turnovers.
Sure. Towns may have more success against Horford cause of his style of game. But towns gonna to have problems against other teams.

I am not trolling, I really think we would be a better team if we traded Embiid for another star that fits better with Simmons, this is not to dismiss Embiid, he is a very good player, just think we need a different direction closer to what Bucks have (surround Simmons with all shooting). Not sure how this is trolling. Also I am concerned he will decline fast with his constant playing time, small injuries, etc. All adds up as to why I think building around Simmons instead is a better idea, maybe I'm wrong and Embiid actually leads us to a championship, who knows.

^WTF We're not trading Joel Embiid. This nothing more than load management. He'll play the last 15 or so games and then it's playoffs. That's it....I love how everyone loses their minds because dude has a sore knee. He'll be fine. We have depth, we have star players, this I believe is more precautionary than anything.

Re: Joel Embiid - The Prophecy is Realized
its trolling because earlier in the season you were clowning Simmons every chance you got.
it doesn't feel legit coming from you because of this.
We aren't trading Joel Embiid. He means far too much to the franchise...especially for Simmons' sake as he is the more likely flight risk than Joel.. But it is the same reason we aren;t going to trade Ben. You don't trade a sure thing for a maybe. Towns is a soft guy who damn near quit on his team this year...who hasn't won **** so far in his short career. And despite all of that, he is the only guy who is even close to a good return for Embiid ....and I highly doubt The Wolves do that. You have to realize that the moment you put Embiid on the market, other teams will wonder what we know about his health...and then the offers damn sure won't be other all stars.
so in the end it is a useless discussion unless you are just out to get a rise out of people. Its not happening the way you think it would....we'd would not get another all star back in return.

Outside of a Davis trade you're not getting back even remotely the level of player for Embiid, look at all the packages for the stars in the last 2 seasons, nobody got back equal value except for maybe the Pacers and even that's pushing it because of how good George has been playing (excluding Oladipo injury). You can't follow the Bucks model because Ben is not the scorer that Giannis is, even without the shooting around him Giannis was a 23 & 27ppg scorer on teams with atrocious spacing. The method of surrounding Ben with nothing but shooters would lead to a nice regular season record and a much weaker team in the playoffs as his lack of a halfcourt game would still be a problem.

To be fair the Warriors have dominated the league with 2nd rounders and Javale McGee playing the 5. You don't need an offensive 5... a defensive 5 will do the job just as well for paint protection. Joel jut happens to be both which is nice.. but history in the last 10 years has shown its not integral to winning rings. Ball movement, passing and excellent shooting is the key. It's worked for the Warriors, Cavs (who also never had a decent big playing the 5) and the Spurs who had Duncan playing the 5 but was more a stretch 5 than a banger in the post.
It's a shooting league nowadays anyway and what is more important is that you have guys that create their own shot when the defense has been stepped up in playoffs and in Butler, Redick to a lesser extent and now Harris we now have this. I don't consider Ben or Joel one of those guys. Ben because he doesn't have a jumper yet and Joel because unfortunately he is too easily shut down in the post with a double team because he has poor awareness passing out of the post.. at least up until now.
You can easily build a championship team with 3 all-stars at the 1, 3 and 4 position.. and a defensive guy like Bam Adebayo as your 5 anchoring defense.
As for Joel's latest injury issues... there is no way around it but when the team announces that they will "re-evaluate in a week" then its pretty serious. Expect him to be out a lot longer than 1 week.... because if they expected him to be ready in a week he would have been "day to day". It's been a worrying pattern since the day he was drafted.
That being said there is literally zero change of Embiid being traded even if it is the right "business" decision when it comes to winning rings. This is going to be one of those Yao Ming situations where you know his body is going to break down and never play out a full career, but he brings so much off the court that the team will basically live or die on that hill and hope you can get a championship or two out of him.

Trade Embiid for talent that fits Simmons..
Like who? We have every kind of talent on the team and he hasn’t found his duo partner.
In 2K life, i also would trade Jojo. But this is real life.
Fantasy aside, i like we’re sitting Jo out. Load management is the way too go whether you’re Jojo or Kawhi or Kyrie. We ain’t Thibs Bulls.
Teams should fear us once we have a 100% jojo in the postseason

Warriors without KD would be a one hit wonder (2015 title) and they struggled in that series in 2015 playing one man team in Lebron with the Cavs injury. KD is the cheat code cause he’s basically 6 foot 11 himself to be able to help and cover other bigs.
Getting back embiid. His body isn’t gonna to last long. Yes. I do agree to trade him if the return package is 80 cents on the dollar. But u are never getting 80 cents on the dollar in today’s nba world. More like 60 cents on the dollar. And Simmons has such a glaring hole in his game. I just don’t think it can ever be fixed. Plus u can’t
Have ur point guard shooting 55 percent from the free throw line in the playoffs.
It’s a catch-22 situation sixers are in.
Embiid has played way too many minutes. His knee is bothering him. Outside of light nba all star physical activity. Embiid essentially has had a one week break. He was also off for 6 days between the Denver road game and the lakers road game. So he’s had essentially 2 out on the last 4 weeks off. It’s just a bad sign for a 24 soon to be 25 year old embiid.

I would consider an Embiid trade for a top 4 pick ( no1 if possible) and some quality fillers to bolster the bench, but only the training and medical staff know for sure if the team needs to do that.76ciology wrote:Trade Embiid for talent that fits Simmons..
