A important question for the future is if he will be always a sg or do you guys see him transitioning to the pg role after Harden retires/declines? Watching Harden play, you can see the difference between he and maxey in the passing department. HArden is a great passer, there´s no comparison with MAxey here( although i think he improved this year). I dont know if MAxey can be a good passer after some years in the league. WHat do you guys think? But lets hope HArden plays a lot of years here, so MAxey doesnt need to become our starting pg

Re: Welcome Tyrese Maxey!
It´s been a joy watching Maxey development this season.. His 3 pt ball improved massively. With him sliding to the sg position, with the HArden trade, he´s having a lot of space to shoot 3s , so i can see he sustaining his 3s percentage at 40%. If he could up his volume next year, to 5-6 3s per game without losing to much %, i can see him averaging 20 ppg easily, since probably we will trade Tobias next year too, as he doesnt fit.

100% he can turn into that passer. Kids a gym rat and loves nothing more then basketball. He's not gonna stop till he adds every possible weapon . Top 5 potential no cap

FireMorey wrote:Just curious, list the players in the NBA you'd consider trading Maxey for. I can't imagine the list would be that long.
A friend asked me yesterday if I'd trade him in a deal for Lillard in the summer if Lillard wanted to join Embiid and Harden, and honestly my first instinct was to say no. Age and injuries concern me. Which made me wonder the players I'd trade him for.
This is including matching salaries. Just in a vacuum for the Sixers. So obviously, I doubt you'd put Jokic in there since the Sixers already have Embiid.
My list:
Steph
Durant
Morant
Tatum
A proven healthy Kawhi
Garland
Cade
Doncic
Booker
Some potential names I'm curious what the board thinks about:
Haliburton
Anthony Edwards
Zion(a year ago would've been an obvious yes, but weight and injury woes) - I'd still have to do it though... probably.
Klay - would you with his recent injury history?
Don't think I'd trade him for LaVine as good as LaVine is.
Might be missing a name or two. I didn't put Giannis, because I think he and Embiid would be a terrible fit.
Either way, not a huge list.
The first like 10 sure. After that no. Why would be trade our own drafted young star that everyone and their mom loves to death. I'd be so furious even if we got a great return. When you hit on late picks like this and the kid legit has top 5 potential due to him going and getting it everyday in practice and in game... You don't move them period

The thing you have to factor in about Maxey as well that you don't get from a veteran player you may trade him for is his youthful, infectious approach to the game. This team needs that to balance the more veteran, stoic approaches of Harden et al.

This kid just has it.
He isnt the most talented player, but he just has the mentality and work ethic to be a star and a winning player.
As we learned with Ben, thats even more important than talent or natural born given gifts.

Re: Welcome Tyrese Maxey!
Do we believe the shooting? I think it's pretty obvious he's a 39+% 3pt shooter. He still passes up good rhythm looks from deep but he's starting to do that less frequently. I said he was on his way to stardom coming into the season and it looks on track. The Harden deal was rocket fuel for Maxey's ascension and he was prepared for take off. Won't ever be able to defend credibly but has a big, big bag he carries on offense.

The kid is beyond talented. This kid is no TJ McConnell the little engine who could overcome limitation.
Maxey was a 5 star recruit. The only limitations for Maxey are his height (he’s got long arms 6 8 wingspan for a shorter player). Not Donovan Mitchell 6 10 wingspan but got enough length.
He’s a natural scorer. And a speed demon.

There was a bunch of you that wanted to trade him too. I've said this many times and I'll repeat, thank God we got Morey, he kept Maxey and Thybulle.

I dont think anybody wanted to trade him. I think some guys were just willing to let him go if you had to.

In four games with Harden:
5.07 3pa per-36
2.7% steal
Maxey has followed my blueprint because he wanted to take himself out of the bin. You're welcome, guys.

Yep. I remember all those folks who wanted to trade him for Lowry.

Dont get me wrong, of course hes talented, but there is a lot of players as talented as him in the NBA.
The difference with this kid is what he has between the ears, he has elite mentality and approach to the game. Hes a killer.

I would've included Maxey for James Harden in a second, but like you said, "thank God we got Morey." Morey was able to get Harden for Ben Simmons and a few Magic Beans, as far as I'm concerned.
Now last year for Lowry? No way.

technically, thats true. They're just usually in the first 3 picks.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Facts bro. Also does it with a smile on his face the entire time. Straight dog. Loved maxey from day 1. Gym rats and his energy translates to the whole squad

More like thank God the Raptors asked for too much on top of Maxey.
I was totally on board btw

And were willing to throw him in a package to get (shudder) Lillard or Beal. Thank God for Morey.

Now he's better than most, but I still believe that. Guys like Coby White, Malik Monk, Cole Anthony and Emmanuel Quickly don't end up on teams that have 2 MVP caliber players that command double teams at all times.
