When it comes to advanced stats, I think the problem with people is they like to think that there is a “one all be all” stat whether its RPM or RAPTOR or WARP. All of them are useful but you need to consider multiple data points and raw real world information to check if those data checks out correctly or not.

When it comes to defense, Jokic is playing the kind of defense that Roco likes to play where he would gamble for these swipes. He also plays with forwards who can slow down the drives making it easy for him to go after these deflections.

Regarding that Spurs game, he just had one of those games where he was at the bad side of variance in those swipes (he averaged 3.2 swipes per game; tied 6th).

Take note that im talking about style and not whether he is a good defensive player or not.

Didn’t you attend the Sloan conference last week?

Joker misses the last second shot against the Nets. Embiid makes that shot. Not the 3 the 2 near the free throw line.

Another triple double tho

From the GB:

One plays with Harden, one plays with Murray.

Yup, one is definitely not like the other

Where was this energy last season when Joel's best teammate was Tobias Harris?

It's true though, Harden is better than Murray, 18th RPM vs 57th RPM.

Jokic is a C and he has the same career block percentage as De'Anthony Melton who is 6'2" 180 pounds. We're at the point where he's not even a threat to block a shot or deter a driver from the lane. He's an actively awful defender right now.

Defensive end of that is still bad.

Blocking is not all that, what matters is altering shots. Jokic does a good enough job, just not elite.

A troll is only funny when others aren’t sure about the troll (like doing it on the general board). When it’s incessant inundation of trolling on a board where everyone knows your trolling, it's just annoying.

I've heard a rumor. If Embiid somehow wins the MVP this year, both JJ and Perkins will be presenting it to him. Just a rumor.

Eyeamok, you buy into Perkins’ narrative that Jokic is favored because he is white?

I don't believe there's a racial bias. Nerds are merely chasing the numbers. And all the numbers of these stupid formulas say Jokic is the GOAT.

Simple solution would be to stop giving votes to nerds. Have the MVP voters be coaches and players.

But I thought Hinkie was all about analytics and about running the numbers?

Why? coaches don't care, have you see how they vote for all stars?

People take MVP too seriously, having a big number of voters was supposed to diminish random votes for players on local teams or narrative stuff. It's what its.

Jokic is a generational player and Embiid is too. People take this stuff like it's life or death and both are gonna be HOF players anyway.

Hinkie was a bad GM. Particularly when it came to player evaluation.

I often think some comments just don't need the green font or the /s tag at the end because they are just painfully obvious. But as my darling wife likes to tell me I am not as obvious or as funny as I think I am.

As to your question ask me if I care?. I just find it strange that JJ was getting a lot of heat/press for talking about players in the past and how basically they were not as skilled as the players of today. Then all of a sudden Perkins makes an "inflammatory" statement and now the focus has changed hmmmmm ! Keep those eyeballs tuned.
