All I said was he's still better than Lou. I guess you were one of those people who wasn't watching, because he was pretty good in Denver.

apparently you werent watching either or would have noticed the one playoff victory they had

or how denver got better when he was gone or how he wasnt a team player in detroit or how he failed in detriot or how he still hasnt signed with a team

is he a better player than lou? yes
is he a better option at pg than lou? no

its a lose lose situation with winning games and a even bigger lose situation when he becomes a cancer here AGAIN and creates an acidic locker room

Believe Stefanski and management wants to see if Williams can handle 30-plus minutes a game and play point guard. They also want to take a look at Holiday.

It's not like it was an addition by subtraction type of situation. They were better with AI than they were prior to getting AI. Replacing him with a top-5 PG in the game just took them to the next level (having a healthy Nene helped too).

I disagree with you on Lou being a better PG option, and I think we'd win more games with AI at the point than we would with Lou.

Makes sense. I guess I just have considerably less faith in Lou's abilities than they do.

I still believe Williams' best position is shooting guard, though he has the body of a 1. Will be a bit of a change in styles for everybody.

And that's exactly what they need to do for a year. There's no clear upgrade at PG that we could even get in FA, so you have to make this year the year to find out if Lou/Holiday have what it takes to run a team.

If Lou and Holiday don't have the skills, I think Lou will need to be moved for a more traditional PG. Lou might have some value to teams to fill the role of bench sparkplug. I'd rather move him than one of the bigs or Thad/Iguodala.

I actually think our PG crop may surprise some people here and turn out better than you think they are. Lou isn't going to be a traditional PG, it's just not going to happen, but there's a lot of non traditional PG's that have had success in the league. As for Holiday, his D alone will be a bright spot compared to what we had last year. I think he will take some time to contribute a lot offensively, but if he plays solid D as a rookie, I will be more than satisfied.

If Williams doesn't get it done, the Sixers can hope Holiday matures quickly and can handle a bigger role in 2010-11. If not, the Sixers will have cap room in 2011 because Dalembert, Kapono and Green's contracts will come off the books. They could conceivably sign somebody starting at the MLE in 2010, when the list of free agents should be better than this year's group.

well in 2010-11 Thad will be up for renewing his contract
and if like most of us think Thad will be an all star player or close to it wont it kill the possible cap room?

the thing is that the sixers have no plan, all they got is hope and the fact that they dont want to spend money.
you cant build a winning team with just "hope" , you got to have a plan and you got to have the right people making that plan reality.

i should have seen this coming with the resigning of Mo last year , right there we saw stefanski dont have a clue
i was one of the people(we had many of those here) calling for Mo's head that entire year and because of good two months stefanski decided to resign Mo.
that was a bad decision(stefanski fired Mo a month into the season,by doing that he was just confirming he was failing and has no clue what he is doing , he had his choice of who ever he wants to coach the team , there were many options much better then Mo, yet he decided to re sign a bad coach and fired him 3 months later)that started a good run of bad decisions by stefanski.

the signing of brand(he was the best free agent on the market, but he wasnt the right fit to the sixers from a system point of view and from the going "young" and see how it goes call we see this year)
maybe if stefanski would have hire a coach who knows something about coaching , that coach would have a say about the signing of brand, and then the ultimate failure by not trading Miller at the deadline knwoing that you wont resign him in the summer.

stefanski had so far 3 big decisions to make:
1. hiring of a coach, he decided to resign Mo - FAILURE
2. signing the right free agent with the cap space, he decided to sign Brand - FAILURE
3. trading Miller if you not gonna resign him . Miller sign with portalnd - FAILURE

Stefanski has failed and made the wrong decision every time he had to make a big decision
this guy is over matched, has no idea what he is doing and needs to go.
in the next 3 years(if he stays) he will turn the sixers to one of the worst teams in the league.
and based on his failures when making big decisions i dont trust him at all to make a darft pick in the top 5(and the sixers will have a few of those in the coming years)

i live in LA and dont have a season ticket(i would have if i lived in phili) but i am a paying customer since i am buying the NBA league pass only to be able to watch sixers games , i feel for all the paying customers and loyal fans of the sixers who has to watch this clown ruining this team that we love.

No he won't be. We have a team option for that year. If we pick it up he will cost less that 3 mil that year. He won't hit FA until 2011-2012

Believe it's after two more seasons (2011-12) when Young can become a restricted free agent and would be eligible for a big-money, long-term deal.

Coaches and fans in the past have suggested Iguodala could play some point.

Is Eddie Jordan considering letting Andre initiate the offense more often to give Lou opportunities off the ball?

There are cases where HS players developed into star players once they got starter minutes. Jermaine O Neal and Tracy McGrady are the ones that come to mind the quickest. Al Harrington isn't a star, but he's a solid starter.

Its not impossible that Lou could break out this year. No he's not a traditional pt, but he is a player. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I think it is very possible. He came out way too early. He wasn't ready physically or mentally.

Nevertheless, his size dictates that he will have to play point guard, so the development of the necessary skills and style of play for that position is what will allow him to be successful.

It took Jermaine Oneal four years before he really broke out and he did that with Indiana. From 96-97 to 99-2000 (4 years) he was buried on Portlands bench and in his fifth year he finally began to flourish as a player. I think the same thing can happen to Lou Williams. I'm excited about him as our starting point guard this season and I hope it works out. I hope he has a great year and we win a bunch of games.

Could be. Arenas and Hughes brought the ball up in Washington for several years and got the Wiz into their offense. Iguodala could do the same.

I agree, but the difference with Lou, as opposed to JO or T-Mac, is that he has to play a position effectively that he may not have the mindset to do.

They just needed experience and playing time.

And I think this would really benefit Lou by taking some pressure off of him and allowing him to do what he does naturally. Score.

As much as some Sixer fans are in uproar over the Miller departure (w/o getting anything in return), it seems to me the two people who could care less are Elton Brand and Eddie Jordan. Brand was never going to get spacing for his mid-post game with Miller at the point. Just by the fact that Lou is willing to shoot jumpers from 20 feet and beyond helps spacing, provided that he doesn't fall in love with it.

Looking strictly at our playoff roster and the guys who were getting regular PT, if I told you that you could trade Andre Miller, Theo Ratliff, Reggie Evans and Donyell Marshall for Elton Brand, Jason Kapono, Jrue Holiday and Jason Smith, would you do that deal? I do that without hesitation. Does it make you a championship team - heck no. But I have a lot of difficulty seeing how you are worse off, especially when you have a legitimate coach to put a system around them.
