we would accept jefferson for brand straight up in a NY minute. But that wasnt offered.

We arent moving #2. We are not moving Iguodala.

So then it sounds like the Sixers feel like they have their 1-2-3 spot locked down for the foreseeable future and so the main area of focus needs to be the frontcourt.

His threads are longer than than Tolstoy and more exciting.
When he speaks E.F. Hutton stops to listen.
Rumors have died at his lips and started from his silence.

And some say he is, quite possibly, the most interesting man on realGM.
I don't always post inside information, but when I do, I prefer RealGM. Stay thirsty, my friends.

I think that needs to be the initial post on all of his threads from here on out...

hahahaha.

Im glad to hear they have some 5's they like all across the board.
Id be just fine with Alabi or Jordan paired with Turner.

It sounds like the 1-2-3 is locked down...and I would argue that the 4 is as well (unless we can move Brand) with Brand/Speights...

I'm sure they'd love to move Lou...but if they can't, he can at least be an off-the bench energy guy...so other than taking Turner at 2, unless they can move Lou, it comes down to either 1) moving Thad at the top-half of the draft for a big they really like or 2) buy a pick to get more of a developmental big...

Right?

All Jefferson? wow...how can anybody imagine that Minny make this offer? Or are you talking about Richard?

Sounds about right unless they want to acquire a big who is already in the league instead. I think the Sixers need to try to acquire either their future starting center or power forward this summer via a trade. Whether that player comes out of the draft or is an existing player doesn't matter much to me. But I think they need to package some of their players together to get at least one big. Then when next summer/winter (depending on the lock-out) rolls around, they should then try to acquire the other piece while using their cap space.

If it were me, I would try like hell to get Kevin Love away from Minnesota now while using Thad, Lou, Speights, and/or next year's 1st Rd Pick. Then next summer... use the $9MIL or so dollars that you have to get either Marc Gasol or Kendrick Perkins to come be the physical force you need in the middle. I think a team of....

Holiday (Age: 20)
Turner (21)
Iguodala (26)
Love (22)
Gasol (25)/Perkins (26)

... will be able to compete for a title as it matures and hits it's prime.

I don't like Alabi. He reminds me of Mbenga.

Very happy to hear about Jerome Jordan. I've been on his bandwagon for the last few months.

The only problem I have with a Love/Gasol front court is neither are good defenders. Gasol is above-average, and Love is average at best. Could they work out fine? Sure, but I would like us to a good defensive minded center.

Speights is the most important part in this team future. If he can come in and play average D, while scoring like he can, then that solves a HUGE problem.

Holiday
Turner
Iguodala
Speights
Jordan

I would be very happy with that.

Jordan seems like a nice early second rounder. If the options were trading Thad for Aldrich, or buying a second rounder for Jordan, I might take Jordan and keep Thad.

I know this is blasphemy, but, I think if Speights makes it, he might be better at the 5 then the 4. His strength is the 12-14 foot jump shot, and pulling opposing centers out there creates a favorable mismatch and clears driving lanes. His weakness is help d more than straight d; he does okay bodying big centers. Rebounding positioning and form needs to improve considerably for either position. What we would need then is a big athlete at 4 who can clean glass, run the court, and play on the low post, which I would love to see us target at 10-13. I'm more worried about the long term hole at 4 than the 5 hole, (and I see Thad as a 3, so that doesn't help). According to 82games, Speights has 2/3rds his minutes at center last two seasons as well, with better success there than pf his first season and worse success last season, so it doesn't seem unreasonable.

Were Sam and Jerome Jordan separated at birth? Grew up in Caribbean and did not start playing basketball until age 15. Good length and athleticism and decent form to jumper, but very raw.

Sounds like a nice developmental project. Who knows if he will pan out.

If you want to debate Thad Vs. Iguodala for 47,605th time... feel free to create another thread and leave this for discussion about SF76's updates.
