T'Wolves trying to acquire #10 for possible trade with 76ers

"The Wolves are also willing to move point guard Jonny Flynn(notes), and have discussed a deal with the Indiana Pacers, sources said. The Wolves are willing to part with the 16th and 23rd picks as part of a bigger package to move up to No. 10. This way, the Wolves could possibly gain the leverage to make a deal with Philadelphia to secure the No. 2 pick and grab Ohio State’s Evan Turner."

I am one of the biggest Turner supporters on this board, but #10 and #4 is a whole lot of value for a 2 slot drop. You would be guaranteed Favors or Cousins (maybe even have your choice of them) at #4 and get another fairly high pick at 10.

If this is a reality, I think its an incredible tough offer to turn down.

Not interested. If you're taking a big man at #4, who are you taking at #10? To me, whoever that player is (Henry??)... he isn't enough to bridge the gap between Cousins and Turner.

picks alone wont get the job done. we would want a player swap of some kind most likely.

remember..if we arent overwhelmed..we take the franchise SG.

TGP is right..then you still need a SG. You would have to move thad or andre for a SG if you took Wesley Johnson for example...then Udoh or Aldrich at 10.

I wouldnt buy this but I know two or three teams are going to make a last ditch effort to try and get turner. I dont think it will work tho.

You think they could get #10, #4, and a starting quality player? Or did you mean a salary swap to get Brand off the books? Or both?

Kahn might be the biggest boob in the league. Its like playing poker when everyone knows who the sucker at the table is. Maybe we can take all his chips before someone else does.

we wouldnt do just 10 and 4 for 2.

we would try and get a player swap involved to our benefit. maybe a lesser contract or a player we deem as an upgrade.

10 and 4 wouldnt get us to 2.

there is a big drop off after 5 in their opinion. Actually there is a big drop off after 2 as well.

http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/team/ ... asontype/2

It's a roleplayer draft. Anyone and their mama can see it. After Wall-Turner, there's question marks, character issues and a bunch of roleplayers.

4th/10th for 2 would be like two projects for 1 NBA ready player. It just so happens the NBA ready player can play at a position of need.

Would I take the 10th pick? In a package for Iguodala, yes. #2, no.

yeah thats why they would want a player.....hypothetically if they offered:

love,4,10 for brand and 2.

what do you do?

Don't do it, just take turner and if you want a big then make a trade to get another pick but I am with tgp the 10 pick doesn't bridge the gap between cousins and turners.

Strongly consider it BUT here's the problem... I believe Evan Turner is a franchise-type player who will be a perennial all-star in his prime. I really like Kevin Love but he isn't going to be a franchise player. If you have Love, I assume you take Wes Johnson at #4 and again... more complimentary player than franchise guy and the #10 will most likely yield a role player.

At some point, your franchise needs a leader/go-to guy and they are hard to obtain. The only way I'm moving the #2 is if we feel as though we are getting a player with similar capabilities back. The Wolves know this which is why they want Turner. They have a lot of solid complimentary players (Flynn, Jefferson, Love) but they are desperate to have "the" guy who leads them someplace.

Now THAT would qualify as the kind of "blockbuster" trade that gets my attention.

I agree.....it would take a stud to move the pick is my opinion and theirs too.

These are the types of deals that are gonna get thrown their way in the next 48 hours.

Agreed.

Take the best player available. Period. We don't need an overnight fix.

At 4 we get either Favors, Cousins or Johnson.

At 10 we get either a big (if we take Johnson) or a wing (if we take Cousins).

We get rid of Brand's contract and add a young 4/5 with upside in Love.

And we STILL could move Iggy or Thad to get a better fitting piece - depending on how the draft shakes out.

Man...that would be a hard deal to turn down...which is why it probably won't be on the table.

Trying to grab the #10 pick makes some sense, but it's a complete gamble. The league is littered with guys that have al sorts of potential, but are nothing more than role players throughout the league and were taken on or around that spot.

IF Philly believes that Turner can be a franchise type player, none of these offers does much for me. I don't really need or want any more rotation guys or solid players. Right now, Philly actually looks pretty deep in certain respects. What they need is better players at the top and E. Turner could fit that bill. Quantity does not necessarily win over quality here.

U never trade down in the draft. In basketball its alwayas about having the best player. Franchise guys don't drop into your lap like ET is. And you can't trade for one either unless he is making 20m + and is over 30 years old. No thanks. Great teams become great because of high picks in the draft. Its not like baseball where you can buy a team.

There is a reason that so many teams are trying to get Turner.....

Unless it absolutely knocks our socks off, DON"T do it.

This sounds like a horrible idea. We don't need more middling players. We have enough of those.

I don't think you can turn down 10 4 and Love for #2 and Brand. Thats when you get to the point of overrating the prospect. You KNOW Love is a solid starter in the NBA at age 21*. You also know Brand is done and will tie up your books for another chunk of years. Love/4/10 is less sexy than Evan Turner but that doesn't make it not the correct play.
