Addition by Subtraction - Move Iguodala NOW

I've been a dedicated 76ers fan for 20 years or so...very active follower since Iverson was drafted. I generally like Iguodala as a player. He's not a trouble maker, drunk, gangster, wife beater, locker room cancer, etc. He seems to work very hard, is extremely athletic and I think gives 100% effort on the court. That being said, I've seen too much of him at this point to not lobby for him to be traded immediately. The awkward last second misses, the missed free throws in big situations, the way too many 3 pointers with that crazy high shot, the unwarranted fist pumps when he is simply doing what a guy of his salary should do. I'm tired of it. He is not a "go-to" top tier NBA player. Period.
Move him for any combination of: legit center, star small forward to go w/ Holiday / Turner or quick cap relief with some young bigs. If you have to trade Turner to get it done then do it and throw Meeks out there. Brand is going nowhere and he's a good leader for these kids. He's playing great and will only play better if we had a real center out there with him.
I believe the young kids on this team and Brand will all play better without him. If only because they are forced to step up and assume responsibility for the present and future of this team. No disrespect to Iggy on this issue, I like so many others who have posted here have said, actually think he will thrive in a secondary role elsewhere. I just don't think he and this team are a fit.
Please, Rod Thorn, put your stamp on this team and move Iguodala NOW.

Welcome to the board...But seriously there are 500 "trade Iguodala" threads, and we certainly don't need any others.
At least you actually made intelligent arguments for the most part, so I applaud you for that.
PS: he said "dedicated 76ers fan"

I agree with you except for the part about trading Turner. Isn't the main reason for trading Iguodala (aside from his contract) to free up room for Turner?

That's the point of the post. I believe that trading AI2 has to be our primary objective in improvingh this team via player moves. It's a given that in any trade, management needs to assemble our trade pieces as required in order to get 'fair' compensation in return. To me, very few players in the NBA are too valuable for a franchise to trade. For a team with the 76ers record and history over the past 3-4 years, I think the only untouchable is Holiday. There certainly could be 'fair compensation' to the 76ers in return for a combination of AI2 and Turner, finding it is the hard part and why Stefanski and Thorn make the big $$.

Iggy should of been trading last year, but Stef didnt want to make a trade because it didnt make "basketball sense"
Basically they would of done the same kind of trade like they did with Korver to free of cap space.
Supposely there is 3 teams interested in Iggy right now, Cleveland, NYK, and Houston.........The only person I would consider from any of those teams is Kevin Martin from Houston, but getting a Kevin Martin, that is Evan's position, so that would mean no growth for Evan.

First off i thought i was the real dedicated!!! LOL. But really i am not sure what players could come back from those teams that make sense. I am ok with Galinari (sp) He is nice shooter from 3 point land. Kevin Martin is a nice SG. I think ET can and will be a future SF in this league. He is a great defender and rebounder. He is either a PG or a SF. Not a SG. He just isn't that kind of player to look for his shot all the time. Kind of like Iggy. But i think we are ok with PG, PF, and SF. We need a shooter and a center.

This kinda answers a question I had regarding Iggy. Ton of talk on the Magic forum about this guy. Havent watched him enough to make an educated assesment.

I think its a real possiblility he ends up in Orlando if Otis Smith wants it.
I would not be shocked to see this:
Magic get:
SF/SG A. Igoudala 4yr $12.3m
PF D. Songaila 1yr $4.8 mil
76ers get:
SG/SF Vince Carter 1yr $17.5m (only owed 4 mill next year, so hes a 13.5 mil expiring this offseason)
PF Ryan Anderson 2yr $1.4m
C Daniel Orton 2yr $1.03m
2011 Pick

I would be extremely shocked, that trade gives us nothing. Cap space until Brand is gone is useless, plus who knows what the new CBA will be like. Anderson is a nice piece who might flourish in a bench role here, Orton looks like a nothing pick and the draft pick is a minimal asset given where the Magic will be drafting.
Unless you are starting with Gortat and the first round pick then filling in, I think this trade proposal is extremely one sided. I'd much rather keep Iggy then. The team might look to trade himfor value , they could have simply given him away long ago if they wanted, which is what this trade proposes.

Hey so I'm actually a Mavs fan but I wanted to get your take on this trade proposal. These are the players we have to work with and let me see if you think any of these is worth mixing and matching for Iggy.
Philly - Iggy/Nocioni
Dallas - Butler/Stevenson/Ajinca or Mahinmi or Barea/ + a first rounder
This move give you guys Cap room and give you a starting SF/SG in butler, a back up SG in Stevenson, Ajinca and Mahinmi are both young bigs with alot of athletic ability and potential, and then you have Barea who is a solid back up PG who can score.
All of those players have expiring contracts so there is no commitment to any of them and there is a mix of youth and people who can fill holes. We also have some other players we would be willing to deal like"
Haywood (C)
Dominique Jones (SG)
Cardinal and Novak (SF)
Terry (SG) or Marion (SF) (but i cant see you guys wanting either of them really)
Let me know what you guys think about this

It's a terrible trade. The Sixers want trade Iguodala for an expiring contract. And don't come up with the youth of Ajinca and Mahinmi. They are at most stats fillers or perpetual talents who are in the league for a couple of years or so, yet didn't produce anything. If you spare Beaubois of any possible scenarios, the Sixers won't even look at any proposals.
The Sixers can arrange a deal with the Rockets and get a better outcome by leaps and bounds.
Iguodala in exchange can net in Jeffries' expiring contract, some talents in Patterson and their NY and own pick. THAT is at least a viable proposal.

Don't know if it was mentioned here, but the most telling sign that something is in the works is the "Sixers Holiday Pack" promotion:

Igloo Pack? Who do you think that was originally intended for?
