Formerly known as Build-A-Team. Read my lame attempt at humor to get the gist of this...

What is this "Be the GM" of which you speak of?
"Be the GM" in it's simplest form, is GM'ing a team.
So? Are the players already on the team, or do we start blank?
You'll be starting blank. What I'll do is put out a list of the NBA teams, and then you pick the team you want to GM. After all the slots are filled, I'll put the list in a randomizer, and then that'll be the draft order.
How is that fair to the 30th pick? He'll obviously have one of the worst teams.
Not exactly. We do a "Snake Draft". Thus the Gm who has the last pick in the 1st Round, will have the first pick in the 2nd Round. Amazing concept, huh?
Yeah! Well, what players can I draft? Kyrie Irving? Ricky Rubio? What about Anthony Davis?
You can draft any player who was on a NBA roster last year. No, Euro's and NBA Draft Prospects are NOT allowed to be drafted.
Can I trade players/draft picks?
Yes, yes you can!
Do salaries have to match up when trading?
**** no. No cap in "Be the GM".
How do we know who the winner is?
Well, there are two ways. First way (And IMO the best way) is we'll get a group of posters to grade each team. Chemistry, fit, depth, etc. They'll pick the Top 5 best teams, and then we'll see who has the best team according to their rankings. The second way (IMO a pain in the ass) is simulation on NBA 2K11.
Yeah, well the jackass who ran the Build-A-Team 1.0 (Now known as "Be the GM") didn't simulate for 2K11 so why should I believe you now?
Well, that "jackass" isn't planning on doing the simulating this time around. His plan is one of the other willing posters will simulate instead. (It's just because I realistically know I'll never get around to it).
This your idea? You came up with this?
Absolutely not. The New York Knicks board started it, and it's just like many other simulation leagues.
Should I sign up for this just for the hell of it?
NO! If you aren't 100% you are committed to this, don't sign up. Just post something saying you may do this, but aren't sure yet. I'd rather you not sign up, than sign up and never show up.
So, when is this thing anyway?
We'll let that up to the participants to decide. After getting all our GMs, we'll talk about how we want the draft to go. How many picks per day/night, how the picking should go, etc.
Tell me, why should I do this?
To show you are the smartest, all-around poster here. Show us that you have great basketball knowledge and know how to assemble a team. Show you can get a star, and then build around him. And quite honestly, it's a good/fun time.

Seriously, I think all involved had a good time. And if I wasn't so busy/lazy with the simulation would have been better. This year, we can do the sim right after we are done. Just think of last time as a scrimmage...this should be much more organized, cleaner.
Last year we had about 15, and I'm hoping more of the regulars here get involved this time around.
Have any more questions, just ask me. Hopefully, we have good interest...
