on Wednesday Feb. 20th vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves. Don't panic or get depress, we will bounce back and make the playoffs and then Andrew Bynum will show us in the playoffs why he deserves a contract. 8-)

Do you have a link or a source to this? I hope your'e right.
Nevermind...http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball- ... --nba.html
This is what I found and it says that he'd like to return on the 20th. I'd like to have an all black 70's style Harley but that doesn't mean it's going to happen.

People are waaaaaay too optimistic about Bynum all of a sudden. Did anyone else read the Bob Ford article on him yesterday? He asked to sit down while talking to reporters because his knees hurt too much to stand. HIS KNEES HURT TOO MUCH TO STAND.

One suggestion would be to do something, almost anything at all, because the product on the floor at the moment is mostly terrible and - guess what? - Bynum might not be coming back. Not Feb. 15. Not March 1. Not the 12th of Never.

The guy hurt himself bowling. You think he's not going to hurt himself trying to practice basketball at an NBA level? He can't even run on a standard treadmill, but uses (when it is working, which isn't often, according to Bynum) an anti-gravity treadmill the Sixers acquired for him. Anti-gravity treadmills were invented so astronauts could replicate exercise in space, and if you've seen the helmet Bynum is wearing around these days, it makes a little more sense.

What doesn't make sense, however, is believing that Bynum will progress all the way to step six without more setbacks. What also doesn't make sense is letting the team and the season slip away because, woe is us, we don't have our center.

I think we will see him on the court at some point this season, because the Sixers and Bynum want it that way. But I'm am very, very skeptical that we will see the Bynum that we saw last year for a very long time. If ever.

How in the world did you get from that article that he's too hurt to stand? Jesus, Sixers fans will find anything to be negative these days(and trust me, that ain't good. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done. Next time, do not "believe" wildly unless you've researched the facts clearly.)

He is capable of standing. Yes, I am aware of that. I have seen him standing. He requested to do the interview sitting down. Why do you think that was? He had a cramp in his leg?

Andrew Bynum delivered the weekly update on his knees before Monday's game against San Antonio and - here's a bad sign - he asked whether he could sit down to do so.

Bynum is somewhere along a six-step program designed to put him in a 76ers uniform this season. He hasn't run yet, or jumped or made a cut, but he is able to stand on the court at shootarounds for a little while and make standstill shots and some light catch-and-shoot attempts.

"Sixers fans will find anything to be negative about these days"

Are you freaking kidding me? Are you watching these games? We've lost 16 of the last 21 games. If you aren't "negative" you're not paying attention.

He is not coming back. He is just arriving (to the sixers at least). I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm about 80% confident this happens. That's why I don't believe in the whole "let's just tank" idea. I think we can still make the playoffs with Bynum back soon. Also I want to get out of our pick owing. If we make the playoffs for the next 2 years, we will be out of our pick owing. Then we can finally trade more picks or use them.

I hate the whole tank situation in pro sports.

Why should the worst team get the highest chance of the #1 pick? They don't deserve crap!

The teams who just miss the Playoffs deserve the most help. Teams should be fighting for postseason play or the #1 pick by WINNING. I know some teams can get all the top prospects in the world and still suck (Atlanta Hawks for awhile), but I just don't understand why this is the way drafts work. Maybe my theory has holes in it, I don't know, but logically it makes the most sense.

Logically, the NBA wants a competitive league, which includes the fact that even the worst teams can turn things around in one magical moment on Lottery night. i.e.- Oklahoma City, Golden State, etc.

Would you really be okay with the worst 10 teams in the league consistently getting stuck with picks 5-15, and missing out on the top 4 players coming into the league every year?

The reason the worst team deserves the best pick is because if the worst team didn't get the best players (therefore having a chance to become a better team), the league wouldn't last very long.

Lets say bynum comes back in february. gets into game shape quickly, puts up stellar numbers and the sixers get bounced in the second round of the playoffs. do you give him the max?

Here is what we have dealt with since the whole Bynum situation has occured.

September- he's ready to go, can't wait to get out there and dominate the league! He's had an ancient old indian German asian accupuncture procedure done by elves from mid-evil times using candles, febreeze, and universe juice to heal his bone on bone knees. Kung Fu Panda assisted in the ceremony and Mr. Miyagi used his hand rubbing trick to help as well (he was Re-animated for this)! Everything is working great! Bynum actually flew himself back to the US using his legs as propellers! "I got petty tired flying over the Baltic Sea but thankfully with my brand new knees I was able to push through, didn't want a shark to eat me yo".

October- Bynum has an "undisclosed" injury. Nothing to worry about the team is just taking extra precaution with it. They are going to keep him out of preseason just to be safe. He could play right now if we really needed him.
The other day he slammed a revolving door with his knee! Then he hit Kwame Brown so hard with his other knee that it actually made Browns shadow break loose! The knees are fine! Just being careful.

November- Bynum will be out until December. Team doesn't want to rush his injury. Everything is ok though. He hurt his knee bowling. Should be ready before Christmas sometime. The team is winning anyway.

December- Bynum is out indefinitely! Can't move! In a wheelchair! Possible amputation of both knees! Looks to be the first NBA player to play the game using prostethic legs! "I still want my max deal yo"....exhales chronic smoke as he says this while blasting an Arbiter alien in Halo 4 with his needler gun.

January- Bynum is healthy! Ran 12 miles on the treadmill at 1.5 miles in 7 minutes (8 speed)! Incredible! He's shooting threes...and hook shots! Should be ready soon! Targets February as his return! Doug is jizzing in his pants from the excitement! "I havent been this excited since prom night" Doug says.

Late January- Bynum can barely stand! Hurts to stand! He has to piss sitting down! Lavoy Allen wheels him around the team facility in his anit gravity hover craft wheelchair.

Seriously...What next? Treadmill breaking down? You've got to be fking kidding me.

What choice do you have at this point after giving away so much to get him? Trying to use the money on someone like Al Jefferson instead? Who else? I think you just make sure you can get insurance on his contract (unlike the one the Knicks gave Amare) and hope for the best. The only chance Philly has of competing for anything of consequence is if they get a healthy Bynum back going forward anyway. It blows that it is such a risk, but I don't see too many other viable options either. That said, if the doctor's think this will be an annual thing and he may not even make 5 years, I think you have to punt and just realize that it could be another decade before this team is potentially great again.

If he comes back and puts up big numbers and dominates on relatively healthy knees, with no major setbacks, then I give him the max. If the Sixers make the 2nd round of the playoffs this season with Bynum out there, you can't say no to giving him the max.

that's exactly my line of thinking too. and as Gsraider said what other option would we have that might potentially be better. if he comes back and is close to his old self, you have to roll the dice.

If he comes back and looks good and plays the rest of the season out, sign him
up to a max contract and then dump his sorry a$$ because you know he can,t
last he just can't, with what he has, bone on bone things won't grow back it can't.
Get the best deal and move on and do it now.

I'm just looking forward to it because I really don't have any other choice. It's put all my faith in Andy or cry while Voosh is averaging 11/11.

Cruel **** world.
