Sixers Sign Hollis Thompson

Sixers signed another camp body. And guess what?! He can shoot!
Hollis Thompson a 6'8 SF from Georgetown averaged 12.8pts and 5.5 reb as a junior last year and shot 43% from beyond the arc with over 4 attempts per game. Shot 128-291 from 3 in his career which is 43.9%.
Could be a solid wing player if given a chance. Maybe he beats out someone for a roster spot because of his ability to shoot?

He had some decent years with the Eagles and Saints.
In all seriousness, Sixers have no depth at SF so why not?

He can shoot?
pssh..get this scrub outta here. Doesn't he know the best way to ball is to struggle at hitting any jumper? what a loser.
////serioustime/////
i remember really liking him at Gtown and IIRC wanted us to draft him with a second rounder...plus hey he can potentially shoot right? already makes him worth keeping lol. Plus our SF depth is pretty bad (well our team as a whole is pretty bad but still)...i gues Moultrie's injury also means Thad is stuck at the 4 by default.

Nice, I called this 2 weeks ago in the Potential Player Acquisitions thread.
ckchen wrote:Seems like we have enough PGs and big men - I would be looking for them to sign 1-2 more SG/SF types to finish off the roster. Khalif Wyatt, almost for sure, and maybe someone like Hollis Thompson. Just played summer league for the Spurs (Brett Brown connection?) - he's a shooter, and still young (22). Came out early and went undrafted.
Again, he's actually a shooter, someone who can actually hit from distance, which this team sorely needs.

DE compares him to James Jones. 6'8" SF who can stroke it. Doesn't appear to be a bad pick-up. How's his defensive game?

As bad as everyone thinks this year's roster is, I like a lot of it better than last year's roster.
If Jrue Holiday ran point on this team, they would be as good as last years team. I'll take Royce White, James Anderson, Rodney Williams and Hollis Thompson (@ 3 million in salary) over Dorrell Wright, Nick Young and Damien Wilkins (@ 10 million in salary) any day of the week.

Good breakout game last night for the rookie. Let's see if he can keep it up.

Maybe he's earned a spot on the nba.com rookie ladder? This draft class really has been that bad that he could be in there.

How has he been? Seems like a good pickup.

Ranked 7th on the most recent ranking which was released December 4th.

Yeah, I saw that. Pretty cool. I think he can become a Dorell Wright kind of player, which is very useful.

Like what I'm seeing from Thompson lately. He can be a rotational player in this league. He contributes on the boards besides just being a 3 point shooter and he has length enough to guard a couple of positions.
Hollis Thompson becoming a player

Kid is starting to grow on me as a player. I like his potential as a 3 and D type of wing. I realize Bruce Bowen's name gets thrown around too often and it did last year when Justin Holiday came aboard but Thompson is different in my opinion. He's shown enough to deserve more playing time and at this point what can it hurt?
I like the idea of him becoming another Danny Green for our team. The guy has that potential in my opinion and is shaping up to be yet another quality find by Sam Hinkie.
Here is an artice on him I found, thought it was a decent read, I guess we'll see what happens.

His length will make it easy to keep him around.
no homo.
It allows him to rebound, a play defense, so basically he'd be capable of contributing without scoring...
top 10 rookie in the game too (this class is **** dreadful)

I'm a big fan of his game too. I love his hustle, and has you said, is really a potentially 3 & D guy that can stick on this team.

He looks better than his former teammate, Porter so far.
