General 76ers Thread

Intent of this thread is to allow for discussion and an outlet to post anything related to the Philadelphia 76ers that you may feel does not warrant it's own thread, however does not already have a proper thread to post in. I've created a few threads in the past with minimal purpose because I wasn't aware of where else to post information that I wanted to share, so hopefully this alleviates that issue for others.
So, I'm also going to track POTG voting here as well, for the time being.
Joel Embiid - 6
Dario Saric - 2
Ersan Ilyasova - 1
Robert Covington - 1
Nik Stauskas - 3

Yea. Strongly encouraging everyone to post here, unless it really needs a new thread. Will sticky it for now.

Ok Darius Morris..
Does anyone feel like Morris always looks like he's going to lose the ball whenever he is dribbling?
Seriously, over khaliff wyatt? Over vander blue? Morris doesn't bring anything on the table.

I may be 100 percent bias being that I graduated from Temple and go to every game still, but I'm 100 percent confident Wyatt is a better player than Morris. That guy is horrible. He's slow, can't dribble, can't shoot, can't facilitate, low IQ....he's horrible. I'm not even sure how he made it to college ball let alone the NBA.

I would like to contribute a big FU to Doug Collins. He takes a lucky series win against Chicago that required their best two players getting hurt to accomplish and turns that into trading away FOUR assets for Andrew Bynum. The reason I bring it up yet again... Nikola Vucevic, 30 and 21 against the Clips last night in a win including six for six from the line in the last two mins to secure the victory. Yeah, he was terrible Doug. Good job benching him against Boston too. Getting slaughtered on the boards and you play small ball. Has there been a more overrated coach ever?

Or so says the man that still can't do even mild jogging outside fo the pool right now. I read the quote and then the info about where his rehab is now and just shook my head. Sounds like more than wishful thinking, especially for a guy with as many miles on him as J=Rich has.

Yep. Even if he can return, I don't think he will at that point.

I wonder if at some point part of a trade package in moving some players or taking on salary this year will involve shedding J-Rich's deal as part of such a move. Of course if they really need more cap space next summer they can use the stretch provision on the remaining part of his deal, if he isn't gone before then.

I agree 100%. Dude cashed in on 1 playoff series where he played decent against a 40 year old and morons mistake of a rookie contract.

A very insightful interview with Sam Hinkie, you really get a glimpse into who he is and why we should all feel comfort in who's hands the franchise has been placed in. He talks about player development and what he expects from them, shot selection, SportsVU gadgetry, his mentality, the trades he's made, even going silent before the draft and then onto the draft itself, it's a swell read.

Request for Sixers fans.
Could you guys list who you believe are the Top 2 Wing and Big Man defenders on your team? Exclude Noel.
If possible also elaborate on your picks.

Haha you are right, but if I remember correctly KG was playing damn well before Lavoy matched up with him. Garnett was killing us with the mid range J so I wouldn't say he was completely washed up 40 yr old yet. Still, the contract given to Lavoy was dreadful.

Not sure if they qualify as wing players but MCW and Wroten I would pick. As for bigs...I'd pick Hawes and Thad by default but neither are really all that good on D. Allen, Orton and the others are too inexperienced or else Kwame Brown.

I was curious about Brandon Davies because I was trying to figure out why we sign this guy. And I did my research..
So there are some interesting facts about Davies.
- He's a mormon.
- He was suspended for a year in BYU because he had sex with his girlfriend. (Kind of weird for me)
That's pretty much it.

I remember the story about a BYU player who was suspended for banging his girl. I had no idea Davies was the guy! haha

What the heck is going on with Dion Waiters? I root for the areas guys in the league but this season there is a lot of negativity around him. He's rumored to be the source of the chemistry problems in the locker room and he may be on the block (ESPN). They also have this on their site (11/14):
While Brown likes Gee as starter, he might be forced to go with Miles or even rookie Anthony Bennett to get more from the position. The team may look at trade options, however they will only do something for a small forward with an expiring contract as they don't want to decrease their cap room in July.
Wouldn't Turner fit what they are looking for? What is the book on Waiters as a player?
