Laker fan here.. So don't chew me out, but I think one of two things is going on:

(1) Lakers or Minny have promised to take him with one of the top 2 picks.

(2) Lakers and the Knicks have had discussions regarding a potential deal. Lakers agree to take Russell at #2 and package him with Nick Young for whichever big man is left at #4 plus additional assets from the Knicks. NY has cap space, and may feel that the difference in prospect between Russell and whomever is available at #4 is worth sacrificing some it. I just can't see Philly drafting another big man at #3.. It would be gutsy, but there is just no way.

That's how I see it anyways. Interesting to see how this plays out. Are Sixers fans comfortable with getting whomever is left after Okafor, Towns, and Russell? Would Mudlay be the guy?

1.) tickets courtside for the finals
2.) date with rihanna, conflict with Joel
3.) saw mudiay's highlights on youtube. Same date. Coincidence? Maybe not.

I like Russell but not too concerned here. Could be anything. This report has little importance on us gettin Russell or not. For all we know hinkie is laughing at everybody since his smoke screens are leading his real favorite prospect to go un noticed. And that prospect is jerian Grant. Or frank kaminsky. Or......BOTH

And I would not be surprised in the LEAST to see sixers take okafor if he's on the board. We have not seen enough of embiid, Dario, and in my opinion to a certain extent Noel, to decide that any part of our roster is set for the future. As hinkie has said we are still in talent acquisition mode, and okafor at 3 is BPA by a mile

The bigs are guaranteed to be going 1 & 2. So Russell's agent told him he's likely to be taken 3rd, the interview at the combine w/ Philly was enough, and it would be a waste of time to go all the way to Philly to shoot shots for an hour.

Most logical one is a promise from other team. And if I have to guess, it's the knicks. Because they'd be damned if Russell doesn't end up there.

Maybe Hinkie and Phil are playing a psychological war where Phil is preventing Hinkie to "Hennigan" him by trading picks and robbing assets for Sixers favor to get the player they need and want.

So draft the Big and I'm assuming trade Noel on the open market? I just don't see how Okafor and Embiid would fit in a starting lineup, do you? They"re going to use a top 3 pick in back to back drafts and end up having a guy come off the bench? I dunno, I just don't see that happening.. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I guess it's also possible the Lakers have told Russell to shut down his workouts. I believe he hasn't worked out with Minnesota either, but I could be wrong on that. Lakers did the same thing with Bynum a few years back. Told him to shut down workouts, took him at #10, so that could also be in play here.

Either way, I think the Lakers are taking the prospect who they think will end up being the best player in the draft, and Russell could be that guy. They have a strong track record of taking the best player available, even though they are rarely in the lottery. They hit most of, if not all the time.

The impression being put out there was that he was already in Philly when the cancellation was made. Which is why the promise by L.A. or an injury seems most probable.

No way there was a promise. I wish people would stop saying this. I think there is less than a 1% chance Russell was promised anything by anyone. Maybe Russell will come in on the 16th to go head to head against Mudiay lol. Hinkie has it all planned out. Mudiay called out Russell and said he wants to go up against him and Russell answered by cancelling his workout and will change it to the 16 to play against Mudiay.

You might have a point there. Another possibility on the same point is that Russell might be pissed that Hinkie isn't there, feels disrespected in some way, and canceled.
