We definitely have more than enough right now to extend him.

Joe Ingles just got 4/52.

Covington will get that if not more IMO. Longer we wait, bigger the pay day.

Right, but I thought I read he is not extension eligible until November. I think it has to be the anniversary of his original deal.

Roco is gonna get PAID. If Reddick can get a $23M/1yr contract, I think Roco will get +$75M/4yrs.

They can extend Roc now...but if they wait until Nov 15th they can incorporate a raise for this season into the mix- meaning they should be able to get a lower cap hit in the extension by giving Roc a bunch of cash for this year.

So if Roco signs a 3 year extension, part of that extension can be given to him this year and thus lower his cap hit for the following 3 years?

Any guesses to how much Cov will want as far as an extension? Otto just signed an offer sheet for max. Does that factor into what Cov will expect extension wise?

Throw me some realistic numbers/years out there.

75/4? 80/4?

No, hence why I'm asking? $16-17 per is about right but with Otto getting max I don't know if that factors?

I like Cov a lot but idk if i would give him any more than 15 per. That could bite us in the future.

Someone posted here a decreasing type of contract wherein the contract will start with 20M then 12, 11, 10 on the succeeding years. That is basically 53M/4 years. I'm not sure if those numbers are correct and/or even legal. Would covington agree to this type of contract?

I don't think he would have a problem with a front loaded extension but I think the problem is the amount. 53mil

Well if we give him $16 million this year, then a 4 year extension, then that would basically be 4/$36M. That would be great.

Yeah $53M seems a bit light..

Last year wings got paid - Carroll($60M), Deng($72M), Bazemore($70M), Evan Turner($70), Evan Fournier($85M), Allen Crabbe($75M).

This year comparable wings got -porter($106M), Gallinari($60M), Ingles($52M), Iguodala($48M), Snell($44M) plus KCP is poised to also get $106M.

Bodner's recent article explains the Covington renegotiable and extend perfectly in regards to using the current capspace to lower future salary for Covington while ensuring he paid more money up front due to the ability to decrease the yearly by 40%. The most likely scenarios:

1) 5Year/$60M which breakdown as $20M- $12M- 11M- 10M- 9M.

2) I personally think it will take 5Years/$70M which breakdown as $20M- $14M- $13M- $12M- 11M.

Oh I get ya, so that essentially would be 5 years $52mil which would be too little no?
I think it will be 4 year extension at $60 mil then with $16 this year than 4/44

It'll be 5/78. Something like that. With 20+ being paid this year.

That number does seem more reasonable. Was just going off the Ingles number laid out.

Now we may have to break it down staring at 15, assuming they don't clear further space.

1) 15, 12, 11.5, 11, 10.5 or something

2) 15, 14.5, 14, 13.5, 13

Trying to using easy numbers to determine the benefit of clearing some more cap room to start the Roco extension higher.
