The thing is, even with this team being exciting in the present, it's always fun to think about the future. While we won't be getting two top 5 picks, we do have the potential to add two more top 15 or so picks in what looks like a deep draft, to our already strong core.

shawn_hemp wrote:honestly, I don't know how you guys can talk about draft prospects 365 days a year.

I feel like this past year especially has been filled with so much analysis because we had the potential for two top-5 picks.

I can't keep up that level of interest in prospects tbh. I was only really following the draft so heavily because our team wasn't very good yet.

Now that we have playoff aspirations, I doubt I'll be very focused on East Wichita A&M's can't miss 6-8 swing man with a 7'4 wingspan and AHHHHHH

IM DONE

if I hear the words "wingspan" or "ceiling" or "floor" or any other questionable pro comparison, I might go postal

but more power to you though

I don't go deep enough in my research to have strong opinions once you get out of the top 10, but I love evaluating top prospects, comparing them, watching them develop, and thinking about how they would fit in our roster.

I have moved on as well in the sense that we most likely won't be drafting among the top picks next year, but I still like evaluating the prospects.

Outside of talking about our own team(when we aren't on the treadmill), it's the next best subject in basketball for me to follow.

oh im still going to watch college basketball, I always will follow college basketball. I just dont know if im going to follow prospects as intensely as in the past.

kind of have some random allegiances here but I basically have 3 teams that I would consider myself a fan of in college bball:

1. LaSalle
2. Kansas
3. hipster team

LaSalle is my local team, Kansas is my blue blood team, and I always have a 3rd team that isnt known for being great at basketball that I follow. I won my first ever March Madness bracket the year Kansas won it all so ive just stuck with them ever since

the hipster team was Oregon from 2012 until this coming year but now that they've reached the Final Four and are becoming known for basketball, I feel like it is time to find a new team.

Still trying to figure out who though...

The hell is going on with Mitchell Robinson? First he inexplicably decides to go to Western Kentucky despite being one of the top players in the country and now he's bailing before the fall semester even rolls around. Concerning, indeed.

Mikal Bridges is a late 1st round pick in my opinion but might slip to the 2nd, a guy that has NBA defensive ability and is probably the best player on the floor at all times when he doesn't have to score. James Demery out of St. Joe's is an athletic wing who has a similar game to Bridges but isn't as good of a offensive threat. Finally, BJ Johnson out of La Salle, a 6'7 scorer, has a smooth lefty jump shot, shouldn't be surprised if he gets more attention as he is the focal point of the Explorers offense, has great length on the defensive end.

I expect the Sixers own pick to fall between 14-20, and in that range I would be targeting Mikal Bridges.

Great player, that I doubt will fall out of the top 10.

Wichita state. As a Temple fan, I'm happy they are joining our conference. However, they are going to be trouble.

Assistant coach Shammond Williams, Mitchell Robinson's mentor who was hired just a year earlier, abruptly resigned. Check didn't clear.

Yeah Doncic is killing it. But Saric is looking like LeBron also so I'm not buying into the competition they're playing.

Bagley to Duke. Suddenly his athleticism seems a lot worse....must be a coincidence.

Saric's playmaking and vision is very good for his size. Did he lose weight? The one picture he looked thinner. Anyway, our 2nd unit should be an advantage this year. Although we may get 2 1st round picks, maybe 10 + 20, we should have good competition among our role players going forward. Specialists, TJ harass PGs, Korkmaz a 6'8 SG, Holmes active finisher and defense, and a few others.

Reminds me a lot of Derrick Williams in terms of athleticism and physique. I can remember watching D-Will play in person prior to the NBA and you kind of feel that he'll end up slightly short for his acrobatic dunk attempts.

I long to watch a Saric/Simmons small ball frontcourt.

Fultz
A developed Korkmaz
RoCo
Saric
Ben Simmons

I'd like to see that on court

And he gets a small knee injury that lasts for 2 years and may require amputation.

Wait, nevermind, that's only the Sixers.

A 6'8 Korkmaz is very promising, his size and mobility should make him an interesting prospect.

Redick should be exciting, his spacing is a hidden benefit of his sharp shooting. Defenders can't leave him, this will open lanes for everyone. Also, Your lineup should be very good in transition.

The Sixers will have some unique options with lineups.

Simmons.....6'10
Fultz..........6'5
Covington....6'9
Saric..........6'10
Embiid........7'2

This could be a strong, overpowering one. Fultz and Covington could defend the guards, Simmons the Lebron, Durant type SFs. Embiid avg 2.5 blocks in 25 mins, he could be very intimidating protecting the rim.

Please check this excellent video on Collin Sexton: http://ballislife.com/th13beast-why-collin-sexton-is-the-best-pg-in-college-basketball/

1. MIght be a better version of DeAaron Fox. Check how often and easily he uses his off hand to dribble and shoot.
2. As Fultz takes over Reddick's minutes, we still need a better version of TJ Maxx. A Patrick Beverly-type. That could be Sexton.
3. Although he's labeled a point guard, note the one thing that doesn't stand out is his playmaking ability. With Ben Simmons running the show, there's a clear pecking order.
4. Being faster than Simmons or Fultz, Sexton (along with Fultz and Simmons) can get his by being a one man fastbreak. If its not there, give the rock to Ben in halfcourt.

I want the Lakers to do well, all of the bigs go in the top five, leaving Sexton to us.

A Sexton/Embiid duo would be a joy to watch, those guys are crazy haha.

Collin is fun, but he's not a consistent shooter, can be a chucker at times, not a top notch perimeter defender and he's not capable of switching onto bigger players due to his size. He's definitely a better fit than Bamba, Carter, Bagley, Jackson, Williams, etc. but I don't think he's the ideal fit in our projected switch heavy defense and motion offense.

A lot can happen in a year, but I really like some guys outside the top players who'll fit seamlessly in our program. I think this draft might be deeper than the consensus thinks because some of these sophomore/junior players are really good (Robert Williams, Miles Bridges, Mikal Bridges, Bruce Brown) in comparison with last years.

Interesting points. Agree with most. I like Sexton's perimeter defense a lot, though.

I LOVE Miles Bridges. Would love to let Justin Anderson walk and let Bridges take over that role.

My #1 sleeper for this year is Rawle Alkins.

The Fultz trade has really hurt my interest in the top of the lottery for 2018 because I know that it is such a long shot.

Therefore I haven't spent a lot of time researching the prospects.

Realistically, we could get the Lakers pick at say 8, and then our own pick at say 16, and then combine them to move up. So getting the 5th pick would be possible in the right scenario.

Just from the sophomores that I know a little better, Miles Bridges or Robert Williams could both be good fits for us.
