Believe it's in response to LBJ saying that he was disappointed with the Cavs off-season.

The more I watch simmons playing(well youtube highlights..) the more I think he should be our number 1 option. The combination of size, speed, body control and skill are in the same calibre as where giannis, lebron were..its all depend if he has the mentality to take it to next level. Just cant wait for the season starts!

The 6'10" Rondo/Rubio narrative that a couple of people ran with was always misapplied. Simmons was a high volume scorer at LSU. He's going to eventually be a 20 point ppg guy.

I think he can get 20 ppg (probably next year) mainly from fast break points and the FT line, but I don't think he will have as much of an impact in the playoffs when it comes to scoring. When the intensity goes up and guys sell out to keep him from driving to the net in the half court, he will have to get others involved if we want to win.
The good news is, he's really really good at getting people involved too

Good points, Simmons is the opposite of most other players. Most players fight to get a shot, whereas Simmons fights to get someone else a shot. For example, Simmons beats his guy and the next defender has to commit to stop him. Simmons quickly looks for his open teammate to finish, his unselfishness is a gift. Just imagine Embiid and Okafor being the beneficiaries, easy layups.

Very much looking forward to how BB instills his offense this season. I clearly expect Embiid's usage rate to drop, with tons of pick and rolls and players moving without the ball. Ben will dribble the ball up the court to start the offense and run the plays. Embiid will set screens as usual in the high post, with Fultz on the perimeter to provide spacing. This will allow Ben to either 1) finish at the rim/get to the free throw line 2) wait for the defense to collapse on him and give it to Embiid for the layup and 3) pass to Fultz who can either shoot or pump fake for an easy mid range shot or open layup.

Ben definitely ain't getting 20ppg next season. Jumper non existent and not a good FT shooter.

Those dudes are elite athletes. Ben isn't on par with that. Those two were just ridiculously explosive. To defend Ben just back up off him considerably and force him to drive into contested buckets. Or he can use his great vision. You don't want Ben as your #1 scoring option.

I think the 2 biggest things that Ben needs to add to his game this year are:
1. Be willing to finish lefty around the rim. I've never seen a jump shooter so unwilling to finish with his shooting hand around the rim. Brett Brown said it's the number one thing he wanted him working on this summer.
2. Bring the defensive intensity - when you lack at his fluidity, speed and lateral quickness he should be a much defender than he showed in college. His HS tape argues that he is so hopefully we see HS Ben on defense.
3. Be willing to take mid-range shots when they are there for him off of the dribble. I don't care so much about the percentages as much as I care about forcing the defense to defend him.
4. Be willing to take wide open catch and shoot 3s when they are there for him. I don't care so much about the percentages as much as I care about forcing the defense to defend him.

Simmons is a great passer and should be a good rebounder on both ends. He did not play defense in college, except blocks, but may have never been asked to do so. So that is a wait and see. Great on a fast break, especially with the ball but even without. Stop here and you have a valuable player, far from a superstar.
So the question is, in the half court, how many ways can he score and can he score efficiently? He'll help Reddick , Stauskas, Bayless, maybe even Covington with good jump shot open looks from timely passes. He'll help Embiid, Okafor, Holmes, Saric with quick passes for easy close to the basket scores So there is more value. But he has to have a way, on short jumpers, post ups, floaters, jump hooks, put backs, 12-15' jumpers etc. to score and therefore be what everyone hopes he will be.
Other teams just do not have young players with Embiid/Simmons potential. We'll see what happens.

Simmons should improve in those areas. Actually, he already is a good midrange shooter, his mechanics are good. Most will be surprised, how well he will shoot. He does need to extend his range, but only on open 3s.

- Simmons has a 41.5-inch maximum vertical, the best of any player 6-foot-9 or taller in shoes.
- Simmons ran the three-quarter-court sprint in 2.9 seconds, the fastest of any player 6-foot-8 or taller in shoes.
- Simmons has a 12-foot-6 maximum vertical reach, the highest reach of any player.

I am the biggest Simmons fan in the world but sorry again I am calling rubbish on all of those claims. These measurements were all taken at LSU camp not at NBA draft camp... so they were biased and all unconfirmed. Only have to look at the ridiculous measurements for Antonio Blakeney to see how rubbish the entire LSU cap measurements were.
As I've said before... Simmons is 6ft 10 in shoes. If he had a max vertical of 41.5 inches then his head would be 10ft 1.5 inches above the court... meaning his head would be 1.5 inches above the rim. I've never seen Simmons jump and have his head go past the rim in my life... not even close to it
He can jump but he aint Blake Griffin or Andrew Wiggins that's for certain.... and Griffin only has a max vertical of 35.5"

I don't think people understand how great Simmons is gonna be. If Magic Johnson was the President he would be praising him even more than Lonzo Ball.
