We're not bad. Just mediocre for now. No reason to expect team lead by youngsters to be good right from the start.

I think he wants to get his calls too much now. Needs to stop thinking about them all the time.

We aren't a bad team. Any team can beat any team on a given night. We will have more of these type of games and we will have games where we beat good teams.

Things like not having Mcconnell and our bench healthy is definitely overlooked. Tonight it was simply about effort, bad 3 point shooting, and terrible end of game execution (desperate for 3's). We will improve but expect bumpy games in between. I still see use as the 5th-6th seed this year.

That being said Jerryd Bayless sucks.

Stauskas 0 points 0 assists 0 rebounds 0 BLK 0 STL 2 TO. He is literally a zero in fact he somehow managed to be worse then zero with the 2 TO.

He needs to be cut and not play. He has no future here and is a - everytime he takes the court

Their 25th ranked offense just dominated our 9th ranked defense all four quarters.

On a positive note: Ben Simmons may lead the league in SPG someday.

Yeah, I still expect us to be 6th seed. These kind of games will happen.
Tough strecht coming up tho, need to get through that one.

*Dips head out* I thought Bayless was the only guy out there that sort of slowed down Booker tonight *ducks*

It's incredible how undisciplined Bayless is as a defender.

Yeah he negatived played his way to 46 points.

Maybe we should've played Amir 48 mins, everything would've been fine analytically then.

Lol. People complain about me bringing up Fultz all the time but every game thread we have the same people saying how the team sucks and we should trade Simmons and Embiid and yadda yadda. It happens every game thread. If you read through every game thread you would thing we 2-21. People expect us to win every game lol. People can’t be rational. And I get during the game people say things they don’t really mean. I do it. Emotions run high. I have news for everyone. We are going to lose to some more bad teams. We will also beat more good teams. Don’t you guys wish we were back in our tanking days when we didn’t care about tanking and just saw our players develop? Expectations are tough. No more not caring about wins. Lol. Ok rant over.

The Suns are a garbage team. This loss is unacceptable at home. Our defensive effort was extremely poor and we let waaaay too many offensive rebounds go the other way.

Yeah, these types of games happen, but it clear we lack depth with some of these injuries and our 3pt shooting has not been consistent as of late.

Revived wrote:Curry and Harden were far worse defenders at Booker’s current age than Booker currently is.

I’m not sure either of them are even better defenders than Booker this season. Both Harden and Curry are on teams which has strong defenders around them to cover up their weaknesses while Booker doesn’t have that luxury. Booker has drastically improved his effort on defense this season just from watching him on that end even if the stats may not support it.

Don't know about that. Not sure how you want to measure defense but Booker is probably one of the worst defenders in the NBA. DRPM has him 436 out of 444 total players and 96 out of 99 SGs. Last year he was 76 out of 81 SGs, and his rookie year he was 62 out of 63. Unfortunately we can't compare for Harden and Curry.

Here's what the comparison looks like for stats that we can compare.

Age 20 DBPM: Harden +0.3, Booker -2.7
Age 21 DBPM: Harden -0.6, Curry -0.7, Booker -3.1

Age 20 DReb%: Harden 11.7, Booker 8.3
Age 21 DReb%: Booker 12.2, Curry 12.0, Harden 11.0

Age 20 Steal%: Harden 2.4, Booker 1.3
Age 21 Steal%: Curry 2.5, Harden 2.2, Booker 1.1

Age 20 Block%: Harden 0.9, Booker 0.6
Age 21 Block%: Harden 0.8, Booker 0.6, Curry 0.5

Curry is a good team defender and both Curry and Harden generate a lot of steals, whereas Booker doesn't. I'm skeptical of Booker's spike in defensive rebounding this season. He averaged ~8.4 his first two seasons, which would be significantly below Curry and Harden.

Also, Booker isn't nearly as good at creating for others as Curry and Harden are. Curry is arguably the best in NBA history at spacing the floor, a huge reason he's capable of leading a championship team.

I think Booker will be a good player, but I don't think his ceiling is top 5 player in the NBA.

We have a bunch of loose ends on the roster. Weven basically have 4 guys we thought would be contributors not playing for most of the season. F.O need to tighten up the roster is mangled.

dude I have been saying this for the last few threads. I hate your obsession with the Fultz stuff but atleast that stays in its own thread for the most part.

Not sure how we outrebounded them and kept about even on offensive rebounds, but it feels like we got outrebounded by a lot tonight.

Once we replace the likes of Bayless and other negative terrible defensive players on our team and acquire high-quality free agents we're gonna be so damn good. This is far from this teams final form roster wise.

Maybe because their shots went in.
