Rooting for the kid to take the next step

This. While he has had a great stretch of games and has upped a notch. These next couple weeks of games going against playoffs teams consistently will be a test of sorts. If he's able to keep up this level of play over the course than will we know for sure that he's turned the corner. I'm excited to see .

True. Don't know why we suddenly looked in sync last game. Guys just played on their optimal role then our schemes on both ends just got into another level.

He struggled hard in the first half tonight.

Very good sign that Stopping Ben did not = Stopping philly for the first time though.

One of the perks of having multiple all-stars.

Ben should just ALWAYS defend opponents PG then punish them on cross matches like what he did in this OKC game.

Agreed, the few turnovers aside, unreal game. Best game he's played as a professional.

Seriously, I was excited enough when he hit those mid game jumpers. If he grows another gear before the playoffs, we really are in great shape.

I just hope he also takes some stand still mid range shots when opponents leave him open when he picks up his dribble.

No disrespect to Joel but this team goes as far as Ben’s play takes us

Embiid is a monster who can be pencilled in for 25/10 every time he suits up but he can’t do it alone

IF Simmons continues to play this way then they have 2 massive weapons plus Jimmy & JJ and are a threat to anybody including GSW

Yea those turnarounds in the post are nice progress for his game but if he can take those wide open pullups . That's what will help the team overall and take his game to another level because that's where the spacing goes awry.

So if he takes pull-up jumpers from 18 feet and hits them a very reasonable 40% then the spacing will suddenly improve? I don't believe that at all to be honest. Teams will still help off him when he's behind the three point line and will simply close out under control and force him to shoot that lightly contested, low efficient shot.

Ben Simmons in the last 23 games is averaging:

18.0 points, 59 fg%
10.1 rebounds
8.6 assists / 3.4 turnovers
1.2 steals
1.0 blocks

He has 6 triple-doubles in those 23 games. He has also missed 3 triple-doubles by an assist and 3 more triple-doubles by two assists.

They need more shooters, or 1 more anyway.

Ben Simmons has a big flaw in his game but his durability is unquestionable (touch wood). Yes, he missed his first season because of a freak accident and a few games here and there but outside that has been a bit of an iron-man. He plays extra minutes when the need requires, even on back-to-backs and has played through illness with no apparent diminishing of his overall output. He carries a big load for a young player and just keeps ticking along at a high level and is even managing to improve as a player at the same time.

In college he was lackadaisical so to see what he is now is very impressive, a credit to him and his support crew.

He should have been a starter, he is already a top 10 player and only getting better.
Great takes since 2024-04-20

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
