He is. At least in the way we usually recognize 7'1".

I hope Cord still announces him as 7’2”. Or just go full wrestling and say he’s 8 feet tall.

I can't believe that Embiid is only 2.25 inches taller than Simmons. Every time they stand together he looks close to 4 inches taller.

Seems right though Simmons has a long neck and Embiid has a short one. If you measured to shoulder height (which is what matters) then Embiid is probably 4 inches taller.

We finally get the real heights. Simmons is what the league would normally call 6’11, and embiid is what the league would normally call 7’1.

Now hopefully we get the real wingspans, reaches, and weights.

If Embiid is really 280 right now then he was 300 last year. His ideal weight is probably like 265.

Embiid is what we would call a true 7 footer, but nothing more than that, about 7'1" with shoes.
Simmons is taller than I thought, I thought he was 6'10" with shoes.

I love that Embiid's true height is out. He's going to singlehandedly bust all the fudged reports of heights for all the guys that are supposedly 7' tall after growing 3 inches... yet 6'11.75 Joel Embiid is going to tower over them.

Embiid is so much more giant than so many of the guys getting listed at 7'. I want to see the now 6'11, 250 pound Jaren Jackson Jr next to Embiid, since according to Memphis, he should be about the same size as Joel

Don’t know man.. but I like Biid at 6’11 than 7’2”. What’s next is playing like a 6’11” which is developing his ball handling and perimeter shot.

And I personally think Biid should play more 4, specially when he’s along side Al. Biid is better at attacking close-outs, while Al seems better playing the 5 position on Brett’s offensive system.

And that’s my belief.

Biid in a recent interview said that he’s expecting more mismatch and double teams. He also lose 25 lbs and focused on shooting off the dribble in the summer. He’s playing with a slower big with Al. On traditional and small ball line-ups with quicker 4s, Biid has to defend those 4s. Do the math.

Just cuz he defends fours doesn't mean he plays the 4 on offense.

Check his average FGA distance and you’ll understand why.

Well I guess that settles it. Looks like Jo was about 300 lbs during the playoffs and maybe the latter ends of the season (probably picked up the additional weight when he got the tendinitis. Because I recall him saying he was 275 at the start of last season).

Official weight at 280 lbs.

Imo he needs to be 270 or 275. Guess this is a start though. 280 is still too much.

If he was really 275 to start last season, and 280 now then it is bull that he lost 20 pounds.

It doesn’t count if you lost 20 pounds after you put them on. The whole point is that he needs to be lighter.

This is proof of how dumb media narratives are. He is being talked about as losing weight when he is actually heavier than he was to start last year.

I don’t really care about his weight. It’s his fitness and health that I care about. If his stamina is higher then it doesn’t really matter how much he weighs because even at his heaviest he is still quicker than anyone his size.

It does makes sense, when some posters hate post play and big man in general, they want perimeter offense to be the only offense.

So if he is 280lbs and his body composition is about the same as previous years, then I'm very disappointed. There is still the possibility that he put on muscle and lost fat at the same time, so it is 280lbs but with more muscle and less fat, but I don't think so, the way he talked like he did nothing special.
Or maybe it's his body type that makes it very challenging to be at like 260lbs, what really matters is his body fat percentage.

People focus to much on the weight.

He needs to be in good shape, how much he should weigh would depend on his body type and on what helps his game. To me between 280-290 looks good, he is still lean but he has some mass to fight fir position.

Embiid was 250 in college, shorter and with smaller frame. There is no way he is going anywhere near that. If anything i would expect him to get a bit heavier in the next years like most pp layers his age and size.

I have to day i am surprised that Horford and Simmons weigh the same though.

I hope someone talks Embiid out of back-to-backs. MVP is a nice goal to have, but if he’s hurt or sick in the playoffs again then it’s counter-productive.

Lots of blowouts would help Jo’s cause. Less minutes means more games he can be available for.

So if Biid lost 25lbs in the offseason, that means he was around 305lbs last season?

Horford is a better ballhandler , passer and outside shooter thats why he will play the 4. Embiid in the middle is where he belongs on both ends. Embiid has 40 pounds on Horford the only 4's he should be put on our the stars like AD, Giannis and Blake...
