And that’s my belief.

Biid in a recent interview said that he’s expecting more mismatch and double teams. He also lose 25 lbs and focused on shooting off the dribble in the summer. He’s playing with a slower big with Al. On traditional and small ball line-ups with quicker 4s, Biid has to defend those 4s. Do the math.
Just cuz he defends fours doesn't mean he plays the 4 on offense.

Horford is a better ballhandler , passer and outside shooter thats why he will play the 4. Embiid in the middle is where he belongs on both ends. Embiid has 40 pounds on Horford the only 4's he should be put on our the stars like AD, Giannis and Blake...

Better ball handler and passer than Embiid?

I agree that Embiid is a center and should play there, but I don’t think Horford is better at anything than Embiid other than shooting.

Yes hes a better ballhandler and passer than joel. Thats why he was able to push the ball in transition, pass from the post and playmake from the mid post in Boston.. He is a cerebal and reliable decision maker when he has the ball. Can u say the same about joel ?

At worst it’s a push. Embiid is prone to bad decisions with the ball at times, but he faces way more pressure than Horford does so it isn’t simply apples to apples.

Embiid has also improved tremendously how he handles the double teams over the years. He gets flustered a lot less than he used to. His pure skills of ball handling and passing are excellent for his size.

Horford is a much better ball handler and passer than Jo. Perfectly comfortable with him bringing the ball up the court and initiating the offense occasionally whereas with Jo it's a total adventure when he tries. It's not even that Embiid is bad, Horford is actually really good for a guy his size. You don't average 4 APG with an A/TO above 2:1 as a big man three years in a row without some serious ability.

I’ll admit that I haven’t watched much of Horford since college outside of Sixers games, but I haven’t seen him do anything that I don’t think Embiid could do.

I don’t want him playing much without Simmons on the floor, and I’d like Simmons to be bringing the ball up in those situation. I’m just happy that he is on our team.

The addition of Horford goes to our biggest weaknesses which were shooting and defense at the 5 when Embiid is out of the game.

Considering the scary on/off numbers for Embiid, if Horford can make us play even from a +/- perspective when he is on the bench it is going to make us a significantly better team.

Horford is slow with the ball in attacking close-outs against quicker 4s. While his release is also slow like Biid.
But he definitely has a more reliable 3pt shot than Biid.

Everything can change. But Ben as very likely a below average shooter, while Biid and Horford not being quick enough to attack close outs could be a problem.

If you can get opponent C on Horford at perimeter, it solves a lot of our spacing problem in the paint. And we can do that if the quicker Embiid defend quicker PFs.

Man give it a rest.

When Embiid plays with Horford the opposing center will always guard Embiid. There is no way they will put a PF on Embiid.

Defensively you always want Embiid in the paint, not defending on the perimeter. Brown has gone out of his way to achieve that especially in the playoffs. There is 0 chance he is gonna tell Embiid to chase PFs at the 3 point line.

... Not to mention, it's easier to get into foul trouble on the perimeter because contact is called differently than in the post. Getting your 7'0, 280 lb Center into foul trouble, defending the perimeter, would be...

You are breaking the main rules with your franchise player. You put him in the positions that maximize his game, and then fit people around him. You don’t have him do things simply because he can do them.

You don’t have to do anything gimmicky with Embiid. Just play him at the 5, and find the best ways to complement him. Horford can guard most of the 4’s in the league.

Centers aren’t always more inclined to play in the post in 2019. In the Celtics series and Raptors series it made more sense to have Embiid cover the 4 than the 5, and it would have made more sense had they advanced to do the same against the Bucks.

I don’t think you can be dogmatic about what positions any of these guys in our lineups cover. Their versatility is going to be their strength.

Embiid can go out on the perimeter and stick his hand in the face of lumbering stiffs like Brook Lopez and Marc Gasol. No way in hell do I want him defending PFs, though.

Joel Embiid is not Anthony Davis.

Part of the reason that Embiid guarded Siakam was that he didnt have to respect his shot and could stay in the paint a lot. Same with Giannis.

Now with Horford on the team there are more options but if you can have Embiid close to the rim that will almost always be the best option.

Let Biid rest. We are prepared for this. But man.. jojo, go beast mode when you return. No more performance like the Celts game.

Joel Embiid is not Anthony Davis.

Thank God for that.
