Ecstatic. People don't fully appreciate how lucky we are to have him. He is literally the reason we don't have the losing habits that teams like Orlando and Phoenix developed and we were all but assumed to be developing during our tanking years.

They had undeniable talent. They didn't have the coach and the structure in place to make any use of it. Case in point... Victor Oladipo. I'm not saying they had to make the WCF but they are perennial strugglers. Even Phoenix have enough talent to be better than they are.
Brett on the other hand had D League scrubs up until this year.

Had to be done unless you plan on letting him go now. really standard operating procedure for a coach coming off of a season that well passed expectations and not suited to have a lame duck coach. This is the contract and years that tell if he is just a great developmental guide coach, or the whole ball of wax.

It's hilarious that this thread only got 8 comments because we're all distracted by the BC clown show. This is foreshadowing of that press conference....

5 burner accounts > 3 year extension
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Good for Brett getting the financial reward for seeing this thing through to this point.
I don't doubt for a second though, that the Colangelo's wouldn't hesitate to fire him before Christmas if things get off to a rocky start next season. Anything to deflect from Markelle Brick.

OKC had Oladipo too and did nothing with him too. Are you saying Thunder, a team that has never had a losing season since relocation, has a losing a habit too? You can't blame these teams for Oladipo having a crappy work ethic until he got to his hometown Indiana. Phoenix has been tanking, not trying to win games. You can't judge them until they keep losing when actually trying to win.
A better thing for you to say would've been "People don't fully appreciate how lucky it is to have Biid and Ben".

Not sure how you assign Oladipo's lack of early career success to work ethic. It might simply be he was unlocked by the Indiana coaching staff.
Phoenix has talent on their team. They should be better than the worst record in the league. Those players or Earl Watson/Jay Triano were not actively trying to lose.

Oladipo himself has said it that his work ethic was bad until he watched how Westbrook trains and learned from that. Plus he said added motivation from playing for his home team helped.
Nate McMillan isn't some genius HC like Stevens or Pop that can turn nothing into gold.

Fair enough. Didn't know that part was true and surprised he admitted it. For the record, I think Nate isn't getting enough credit for the job he did last year. That team was expected to be competing for a top 3 selection.

Well deserved. Brett has shown he's a great coach, he has the ability to make this young team reach its full potential and I fully believe he has all the required attributes to lead this team. Let's hope he'll manage to get a big success with us next season.
