Welcome Landry Shamet

Post#1 » by XDevilBoiX » Fri Jun 22, 2018 2:33 am

With the No. 26 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers selected Wichita State guard Landry Shamet.

Shamet was one of the most efficient long-range shooters in all of college basketball last season, hitting 44.2 percent on nearly six 3-point attempts a game and posting an elite 65.5 true shooting percentage. He is also a steady-handed creator who led the American Athletic Conference in assists while keeping turnovers to a minimum.

He has the size to play both guard positions and the range to play on or off the ball, but there are concerns about his defense, his slight build, and his lack of explosiveness.

Hope he can shoot or he can ride the bench with TLC and Korkmaz

Surprised by this and hopefully it's a trade. Thought we should've picked Williams or Brown

I like the pick, he'll probably struggle defensively at least for a while, but you can't teach putting the ball in the bucket from range like he can. Fairly basic handler but he's never going to be a primary option for us.

Probably the biggest knock for me is just his build, he'll struggle to put on muscle it looks like to me.

Would have really liked him at 38. Feels like a reach at 26.

Ummm... part of the Kawhi trade I hope? Otherwise, he’s fighting Korkmaz for a roster spot.

Shamet has the skill profile of today's NBA backup guards. I think he'll have a longer more productive career than Smith.

He feels like the rookie version of Jerryd Bayless with a bit more height.

Sixers took two of the top five on this list (three if you count Mikal).

Leading up to the Draft I kept hearing analysts say He is the best shooter in this Draft, I hope they are right.

From the highlights it looks like he has a little Bellinelli in him in that he has a quick release and can shoot a bit off balance.

Quick release and the ability to raise up off the bounce are what stands out to me early on. He also appears to have a nice mid-range game.

I wanted a wing in this spot but this looks like some cheap bench shooting which I'll take. At 26, I can't really complain. I'm sure most guys in the 25-50 range are just about even as prospects.
