This has a possibility of becoming a premium pick due to the stacked draft class. The only questions are: Will we keep it and where will it land?

I believe their books will be cleared by the time 2020 rolls around. I'm just hoping they're so much of a dumpster fire by then no one will want to play there. I'll check back in then.

Considering that the Heat have basically nothing of long term value today, they are starting from scratch.

They also have big contracts that they will have to get rid of in between now and then. It’s a long time until 21, but the Sixers will probably never make that draft pick, as it will be traded before hand. It had a better than 50-50 chance of being a top 10 pick imo today.

Delayed gratification, but essentially MCW for Zhaire Smith and 2021 Miami 1rst rounder. It'll be like 6 years before we finally see the outcome.

I like this trade down so much. Granted, I'm not a college basketball guy at all, so I don't really even care about the Bridges vs Smith part. If it was me, I'd try to forget this pick even exists, unless it's part of a major haul.

Then in 2020, things get really interesting. It sounds like a long way from now, but it's really not.

With the 1st pick in the 2021 NBA DRAFT, The Philadelphia 76ers select (via Phoenix & Miami) , Hingle McCringleberry, All-Five Positions, Penn State.

Is this for just the 2021 pick or all of potential picks? Looking at the West after the draft, the Kings really might be the worst team out there next year. I'm starting to think we really might be on edge come lottery time for the #1 pick in 2019.

Even if they are the very worst team in the whole league, it goes down % wise next year.

Lmao I love that we have another 3 years of pick watching.

For the HS class of 2021, Patrick Baldwin Jr. piques my interest. 6-8 wing with a really smooth game.

I think the chances of us still owning that pick a year from today are probably less than 50%. Our pick watching days are probably over.

Nah the Kings were 7th this year while trying to tank and just added the 2nd overall pick.

They will end up like our Lakers pick this year, around 10 since they have no reason to tank.

Divac really affected the Kings long term potential by passing on Doncic but it’s not going to change next years win total too much. I think Fox’s growth is going to drive them up the standings more than most predict. They aren’t going to be a total bottom feeder.

Ehh. It's early, but it's less of them being a worse team than last year or anything like that and more of the other teams getting better out West. As a Duke guy, I like Bagley but question how much he'll contribute to winning to start out. He'll definitely put up numbers though.

Worst four teams were the Suns (Add Ayton, Bridges, Head Coach Kokoskov), Grizz (Get back Conley, Re-Sign Evans, draft Jaren Jackson), and Dallas (Add Doncic). I think Dallas and Sac are most likely to duke it out for worst team, but Dallas could mess around and grab Boogie or DeAndre Jordan (In which the latter case I see LAC tanking). They won't be better than any of the teams that made the playoffs last year, or the Nuggets, Lakers, or Clippers with DeAndre.

I see most of the competition for the #1 pick coming from the east, but it'll be easier to grab wins out here.

The free agent class of 2020 looks bad. It is the Ben Simmons draft class, not a lot of talent there. Miami could be stuck eating it's cap space for the monster 2021 free agent crop.

Recent history of where Miami's pick has landed in years that Lebron James isn't on their team:

2018: 16th (Sixers took Zhaire)
2017: 14th (Heat took Bam)
2016: 24th (Sixers took TLC)
2015: 10th (Heat took Winslow)
2010: 18th (Clippers took Eric Bledsoe
2009: 18th (Nuggets took Ty Lawson)

Riley is obviously a hall of famer and a lot can happen but I don't think we (or anyone we trade it to) need to worry about this pick being in the late 20s.

But all of those years had Wade even if Lebron wasn't there (granted there were an injury plagued Wade season in there and Wade only provided a cameo in 2018). In 3 years Dragic won't be the same. They are stuck with Whiteside. They don't have any major assets to speak of. The Lakers have shown that even if you have cap space and a desirable destination, if you don't have good players to attract free agents, it is unlikely you sign star players out of the blue. IMO, all signs point to that pick being in the lottery. I don''t think even Pat Riley can change that.

Realistically we probably don't end up making this pick.

This pick has to be in the lottery for it to be worth the trade from a value point of view.
Obviously if Zhaire blows up or We package it for a Star it will have been worth it too.
I Also think if We keep it, chances are it will be in the Lottery.
