Sixers vs Nets round 1 discussion

Post#1 » by FireMorey » Thu Apr 11, 2019 2:13 am

It’s the Nets. The team I wanted. We are really going to find out what the Sixers are made of right off the bat. People have said that we were just waiting until the playoffs start to go HAM, and I don’t nexessarily believe that, but we will find out. This is a team we should beat in 5 quite comfortably if they play up to their full potential, but I feel it’ll be a hard fought 6 game series.

Predictions?

This is going to be a pesky series.

The Nets have 8-9 productive, rotation-worthy players. Kenny Atkinson can coach circles around Brett Brown.

The classic "top-heavy and star-laden vs. coaching and depth" series.

I would ask the last time we saw a team with horrific defensive metrics advance far in the playoffs, but last year Cavs would be the answer.

If we would have faced say the Pistons this series, it wouldn't have told us anything about ourselves. We always own the Pistons. But this is the perfect series for evaluation purposes, which IMO is what these playoffs are all about. These playoffs will decide our future in a big way in terms of coaching and personnel. Even though the Nets matchup well with us in some respects, with the disparity in talent, we should still win comfortably. But I don't think we will. And I'm sure Brand and co. will use this series as an evaluation in a big way.

This is how our four games went against the Nets this season.

Game one (on the road)= Second of a back to back and we lost

Game two (on the road)= Another second of back to back and the we'd just recently got Jimmy. We won

Game three (At home)= We had no Jimmy, the Nets had four days rest to our two days and we lost

Game four (At home)= One of the ten games our starting five have played together and they beat the Nets by thirteen points.

And now we just might have found a gem In Zhaire who can defend their guards better than the likes of TJ and JJ.

Make of this what you will.

Sixers in 5 assuming there's nothing serious going on with Embiid.

#1 attendance team in the league v. #30. Those two games up in Brooklyn will have majority Sixers fans there.

No we’re not.
And I say that with or without a healthy Joel. Road games will also be 45% Sixer fans.

Can’t stop Embiid. Can’t stop Sixers.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

This is not a good matchup..Detroit would have been much better....Russell and Dinwoodie are going to expose this defense...unless Brown figures something out.

I don't like how they finished the year..combined with Embiid's injury or whatever it is....Have a bad feeling.

They are being idiots and assuming that we lose the series right away. How dumb can they be? That's called being a fake fan. No real fan would think that we lose this series. Yea there is a small chance, but I doubt it.

As a Nets fan, I didn't want the Sixers because we have zero chance of guarding Embiid. Jarrett Allen doesn't seem ready in the regular season, let alone playoffs. Embiid is going to average over 30 against us, and I don't think we'll be able to contain the rest of the Sixers team enough to have a chance. There's also the chance of Butler stepping up in the playoffs as well, and taking more of a lead role.

The only plus side is that our guards have done well against Philly in the regular season.

I'm sure that if we beat them Brett will get none of the credit and if we lose he will get all of the blame. Can't wait....

Brooklyn shouldn’t be a problem for us with our talent and their inexperience in the postseason. If we lost to them, it 100% should fall on Brett’s shoulders.

Giving your honest opinion is the opposite of being fake. It’s being real. Being a fake fan would be saying you think they are going to win when you don’t.

That's how it always is unfortunately.
