Hey All,

Last thread went over 100 pages, but we were waiting for the regular season games to end, seems like a good time to start a new one.

Looking forward to hopefully an exciting playoff!

The only series out West that is a lock is GSW over LAC. I could see the other 3 going either way.

Dave Joerger just got fired by the Kings. Any chance hes a Brett Brown replacement if we somehow lose in the first round.

If there is a disparity between Joerger and Brown, it's too neglible to make a change.

It's gotta be Jay Wright. Wright has the xo's, charisma, and CEO approach to be the next Pat Riley/Steve Kerr.

Don't get the people that want Jay. Great college coach, but he's never dealt with the superstar personalities. He could easily be a complete failure at the pro level.

Or Pitino or Calipari or...

To me, Jay appears to have the cool temperament and calm disposition to deal with big personalities. Seems way less emotional and mercurial than Cal or Pitino. Jay has great social and emotional intelligence.

I don't think Calipari could pull off the pros now. His offense is pretty simplified, defense is predicated on his talent, and he likes to scream at his players.

Pitino's allure has become the norm on offense: high 3FGA per game. He's also pretty untouchable now.

I like Jay Wright. I feel like he is good at highlighting his stars with the PnR. He's gotten the most out of his players at a not-so-prestigious basketball institution (yes, they had a national championship prior to him, but that was a while ago).

I like Jay fine. A team with a longer timeline like the Kings or someone would be lucky to have him.

I just think the history of hiring a hot shot college coach is really hit or miss, and we can’t afford a miss. We can’t even really afford 2-3 years for him to figure it out. Remember it took Brad Stevens 3 tries to win a playoff series. If we were to dump Brown it would have to be for someone that’s already proven themselves as a championship or close caliber coach at this level imo.

Yeah, but Brad Stevens was just a basketball nerd from a mid-major. He doesn't own every room he walks into with charisma and suave like Jay Wright.

Wright has been groomed for years in the Team USA pipeline. I doubt he's a guy that would take a while to figure things out and potentially hurt our chances to compete for championships during our current window.

I'm really rooting for the Spurs to win their series with the Nuggets. The way they shamelessly manipulated the seedings (throwing games to Portland) out of their fear of the Rockets and Warriors, was something I can't recall a high seed ever doing.

It's very possible. Jamal Murray is still probably a year or two away from being one of the three best players in a playoff series. The Spurs have the better star math.

Yeah, the Nuggs might have laid down and taken one hoping for the seedings to work out (and they did), but I can't hate on them for that. The example I always go back to is the 2011 Phillies. Last game of the season against ATL. Meaningless game for Phils, Braves need it to win the WC. Scoreless game goes into extras. If the Phils had just grooved some fastballs, they would've played ATL 1st and beat their brains in. Instead, Phils won, got STL in the first round, and ended up losing.

Also I like tanking. So I just don't see strategic losing as an issue.

So looks like we weren't the only ones with a rough first night.

Derrick White proving to be the Spurs PG of the future. I'm not a Dejounte Murray guy, I think he's terrible.

Haha, watching the Pistons/Bucks right now. That series will be over in 4 very quick games. Shame we couldn't play Detroit in round one. We'd beat them without Embiid and Simmons.

Teams i'll cheer for after we get eliminated (just sharing for the Hell of it)
Spurs
Bucks
Warriors
Blazers
Celtics (Probably get killed for that one, but I have a good reason for my Boston support, I hate them when we play them though)

Watching the Clippers play the Warriors and I'm so glad we don't have Wilson Chandler still on the team... Yeesh.
