The fact of the matter is until we have a guard or wing that can handle the ball at the end of games that wont turn it over and can generate quality looks for himself in the half court in close games we wont win anything of note. Embiid as the main option will not work enough. So pray that the light goes on with Simmons soon or Tobias grows a sack. This really was a ridiculous depressing loss. To lose after having a lead that huge in the fourth quarter that would never happen to teams with superstar players like Giannis, Leonard, Lebron, or Harden. Those guys would just draw fouls and make free throws or get enough easy shots for others to win.

"Remember when Draftexpress put Ingram ahead of Simmons in 2016 draft?"
I remember when people mocked Draftexpress for being so wrong, now it is not clear what will happen, one seems to be improving while the other is the same player.

There were so many that were passionately dismissive of anyone suggesting Ingram was the better prospect. Ben obviously had the better numbers at LSU, but the concerns about his ceiling were definitely valid back then.

We need quick twitched creators. That lineup is once again void of them. This length crap is overated if you cant score.

I bet portland would never trade lillard.. but id beg for him on both knees..

Simmons, zhaire, thybulle, and a 1st for lillard and change

But doesnt need to shoot. He just have to play like a man possessed. Let effort make up for what he lacked.

The fans had a hard time hating players with high motors. The passiveness on both ends with a skillset that cant compensate it is really driving the fans mad.

Then again none of these trades do anything withiut a coaching change. Weve seen tons of studs come thru here and moron brown just plugs them into his system instead of building around what they are best at so without a coach change trades are irrelevant tbh

Honestly, the team should just hire a sports psychiatrist in team then do a mandatory "team" assessment where each guy has to have a session with the doc. I forget who said it on the GB, but someone mentioned that Ben may have social anxiety with shooting when in public forums.

This was the exact thought I had about him when at the scrimmage. I watched him brick a few 3's and free throws and he kept shooting glances at the stands and you could just see on his face he was done with jumpers and wasn't going to take on in the scrimmage. He seems to get into his own head and shut himself down if he thinks he's going to miss. Seems to happen with layups at the rim too, he misses one or two and then just seems to snowball.

Andrew Wiggins' last 4 games:

30 PTS | 6 ASTS | 2 STLS
40 PTS | 5 REBS | 7 ASTS
25 PTS | 4 REBS | 5 ASTS
33 PTS | 6 REBS | 5 ASTS

^ are these guys absorbing Ben’s energy?

Ben is not used to criticisms. He’s pretty much treated like a prince his entire life.

Problem number 1 with this team ^

He is the biggest problem on the team. People can blame Tobi or Als shooting thats fine but Ben actively makes everyones job harder on offense in the halfcourt, and your max contract starting PG should do the complete opposite.

I only caught the first half and a little bit of the third. I don't think he was that bad, he even had a couple of times that drove all the wat to the basket which is what he should do.

What he didn't ( and doesn't) do is take over the game. He would be a fine 3rd or 4th option ( spacing issues aside) but on a team that needs him to be the 2nd option and in a game that he needed to be the 1st option he looks inadequate.

He simply needs to find a way to score more and impose his will on the game for this team to work. He is listed at the same weight as Giannis or Horford, yet plays much more finesse offensively and defensively, which leads me to believe that he is playing soft. If you are going to score in the paint a lot ( and that's the only area he can be efficient given his shooting) you need to be aggressive and physical and initiate contact.

Its not what he does its what he doesnt do. He is a paper tiger in every sense of the word. You look at his box score and think he had a good game but context is everything in this case.

All his shots come from dunks or open layups. He is not creating for others he is not breaking down the drfense with dribble penetration and he is not spacing the floor

He is literally killing this team. He is not a PG, he is simply a tall very fast guy that can handle the ball, those 2 things are completely different.

Ben simmons is nothing but a small ball center in todays NBA. Defensively he can be as good as he wants to be, but rarely has been doing it on the opponents best player for some reason.

Then come 4th quarters, when we HAVE to score because we are either losing or in a very tight game, we stop even letting him touch it because hes so damn bad.

Idk why its taken 3 years of seeing him be this way for people to wake up, and hell some still are in denial, but the longer we wait the worse the return will be and the more damaging to our title chances it will be.

Its identical to the MCW situation. Anyone with a clue knew MCW was nothing close to a top player yet he won rookie of the year due to his stats. Hinkie saw it right away and moved him, sadly he disnt see it before the draft but oh well.

52% of his field goals occur from 0-3 feet
43% of his field goals occur from 3-10 feet
----------------------------------------------------
95% of his field goal attempts are coming 10 feet and in.

It's an absolute joke that we have him playing on the ball and getting us into our offensive sets. Ends this experimental travesty PG nonsense. This man is a small ball C.
