Tjarks seems to think the key for him leveling up is to keep increasing his 3FGA, particularly off movement. He will definitely get the opportunity to do that here, given his role in our offense. I personally don’t love the form on his shot, and I wonder if he’ll be able to maintain is 3FG%, but we’ll see.

Yeah based on his shooting numbers he has the potential to be a lot more efficient if they can increase his catch and shoot 3s and limit his off the dribble 3s.

Yeah I've been thinking this for a while, since watching more of him.

I don't like the idea. The whole appeal of Josh Richardson is that he's more talented than the typical assist-converting 3&D player. Let him continue to occasionally create off the dribble. We need that skill of his.

Using him like Robert Covington or J.J. Redick is a waste of his abilities.

Yeah, I hope BB doesn't turn him into another Roco or JJ, that would suck.

We basically have noone who can create off the dribble from the perimeter other than maybe Tobias and Josh.

It would be pretty dumb to turn him into a spot up shooter....wait nevermind we have BB.

Agree. He has good dribbling skills and upside as a good finisher that you’d be wasting if you just let him be a spot up shooter.

My gut feel is the Heat was trying to jack up his value so that they can trade him to the Wolves for Jimmy. And during those times he was actually very good. He averaged 21ppg 3rd 3apg on 44FG% in 13 games last November.

Basically he’s a nice guy that will be good right away if he’s playing a limited role while it will take a lot of time for him to be efficient if he’s asked to a bigger role.

What if he’s not asked to be an alpha or a 3&D player but he’s more of a 3rd option? Where he can develop his skills while being efficient short term?

He's Robert Covington with a bit more on-ball defensive skill, a bit less skill in getting deflections and rebounds, and, most importantly, the ability to attack close-outs on the dribble and finish. This is how he's different from a pure assist-converting spot-up shooter, and why he's worth more. He can create shots on a limited basis and inefficiently, and he's OK as the ball-handler on the P&R (better than Cov, of course), but the 3's and close-out attacks are where he's earn his next contract.

The more I watch Richardson, the more I think he could become a stud.
He's an underrated dribbler too.
I thinkhe could be a very nice complement to Ben

I'm very excited

I'm telling you. Brand getting Richardson is a master stroke. He's is so under-rated it's criminal. And with him alongside Simmons in defensive transition, he's going to become a fan favorite instantly.

I think he came into the league as a defensive specialist and then developed his offensive game lately

He is prob a top 50 player in the league. Our whole starting lineup might be.

I'm not so sure Richardson is skilled enough to shoulder an offensive load against playoff defenses but he is going to draw the worst/smallest perimeter defender on the opponent.

I think it should be a major regular season focus to try and stretch his on ball offensive game. We need him to punish mismatches in the playoffs to give our stars the most space. I'm in favor of him being the primary backup PG and playing most of his minutes with only one of Simmons and Harris (or neither) on the floor with him. Forget Shake and Neto. If we have something in him on offense we go to another level.

He was #67 coming into last season. I thought he should have been higher.

"...what Richardson did best goes beyond the box score. According to Second Spectrum research, opposing players shot 41.6 percent when Richardson was the closest defender, tied for fifth best among 100 players to defend at least 700 shots last season. The only players with a lower percentage? Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, Al Horford and Ben Simmons..."
