The Basketball Tournament 2019 [unlikely discussion thread]

Post just for the basketball addicts who will watch a two on two in the park if it gets vicious enough. The Basketball Tournament (TBT) and the Big Three, as well as the upcoming FIBA World Cup tournament, is not only a necessary fix, they provide meaningful decentralization to the basketball industry, which is important towards the long term health of the sport.

A winner take all tournament, the Overseas Elite have won the initial four TBT championships. Yes, glorified playground hoops. But I think it says something that a) the four time champs are a collection of oversees professionals, and b) that former NBA players prefer to play in the Big3 instead of assembling a team to win $2m. Seems like they would if they could? Point being, the TBT is not terrible.

This year, the favorite has to be Demarcus Cousins' "Loyalty Is Love" squad, featuring Demarcus as coach, Jaleel Cousins, former NBA draftee Isaiah Austin, former NBA bench warmers Markel Brown, Willie Reed and Quincy Miller. Do yourselves a favor and YouTube "andre igoudala crossover quincy miller" to understand why miller is not allowed back in the nba without first receiving written authorization from the former Finals MVP.

Loyalty Is Love also features former Process Truster, Pierre Jackson aka PappyJack. Others having been Processed include Aaron Craft and Caspar Ware.

Team CP3 has a few notables, like Dez Wells, Kennedy Meeks and PJ Hairston. Team Brotherly Love includes Rider's Jason Thomnpson, who played for the Kings. Unfortunately, Rahlir Hollis Jefferson's Broad Street Brawlers have already been eliminated.

So somewhat on topic, is it official Ben isn’t playing in the World games? Trying to decide if I’m going to go catch the games in Beijing, but if he is not plying, I’m much less inclined to go :/

Yeah he announced he’s just playing in some exhibition games against the US and I think Canada in Australia but skipping the actual tournament since it’s so close to the season.

Gosh, I wish FIBA was jumping off right now. Before NFL season starts. It would be slowing down as the preseason was ramping up.
