Redick with be 37 years old in the middle of the season. 38 by the end of the 2021-2022 season. Will be interesting how good he can play next season.

Age played a huge factor not giving butler the 5th year full max

In a way the nba rules to retain free agents works AGAINST teams who have the 5th year option.

Look with Boston and Kemba walker. Charlotte offered 5/170 which Kemba turned down for 4/142

The money per season Is the same. But the 5th season worked against Charlotte.

Same thing happened to the sixers. That 5th season.

Look if the situation were reverse. Butler already in Miami. Would pat Riley offer a almost 30 year old butler a 5/190 contract. Remember Riley didn’t offer even Dwade the contract he wanted

I just don’t see Miami offering butler 5/190 if he were their own free agent to retain. 4/142 for 30 year old butler is safer bet for Miami.

So the nba free agent rules work against teams sometimes especially trying to retain players at or approaching age 30.

Of course there are exceptions like KD Klay Steph who golden state wanted to retain full max (Steph super max)

But marginally top 15 ish nba players like butler and Kemba lose the age game and have to seek teams elsewhere cause they feel disprected.

All you say is true about the 5th year. But how much is a championship worth? This franchise has not had a championship in decades. So the team pays Butler for a 5th year, but they now are extremely competitive when it comes to winning a championship. Is it worth it. In my opinion Yes Yes Yes! We are paying players almost max money now to not win a championship. How about paying max to have a much better shot at winning a championship.
The Accession of Paul Reed is upon us !

You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

Again, they knew how old he was when they traded for him. If you don’t want to give him 5 years don’t trade for him. Maybe 28 other teams also didn’t want to give him 5 years, they didn’t trade for him.

Yes and that is the sixers problem. To not offer jimmy the max but turnaround and offer close to max for Harris (just because he’s 2 years youmger) and over pay for al horford.

They would have been better off just playing Ben and Joel and building a bunch of role players around them. We still would have been 5/6 seed and similar records.

So we are paying Al just for insurance for embiid. And over paying Harris. Harris is nice player but not 35 million nice player.

There's a difference between crying and calling attention to a catastrophic miss by the inept front office collaboration that still gets paid to pull the levers for this organization.

We can all collectively move on once the swamp gets drained.

Right. Predictable future decisions should be baked into relevant present decisions. The only time they're not is when you're working with a poor front office.

Well your the Mod - don't you get sick of it.
I'm way more of a fun poster which I guess explains why I rarely post here.
Honestly I miss lurking on the Lebron/Miami boards - those guys are fun regardless if good or bad things are happening, half would bitch the other half make fun of them - here it's just too serious n depressing.
But hey thats just me , I don't live in Philly so I may have a different outlook on life who knows.

Honestly, she’s OK but she didn’t reach prime Molly Sullivan.

She was worlds better than Molly as a sideline reporter. Molly was nice, but often times awful at structuring her questions. I recall there were a few times she almost made Dario's head explode.

Peak sixers tv for me was when Molly was on his first or second year and we had Malik Rose. I totally love Malik Rose

Molly is a babe but she's also a total airhead. Serena was much more competent, and obviously good looking in her own way.

Oh look Jimmy Butler about to score another triple double in the Finals outdueling LeBron James. Where can we find a star perimeter playmaker like that?
