Hopefully Ben continues his aggressive January with a good performance in this one.

Embiid is out. That means its time for Al Horford to step up and start showing he was worth the contract. This (along with the playoffs) is the exact reason we got him. I expect Ben to have a monster game also. Tobi needs to play big as well. Our big 3 tonight. We'll get a nice boost with the return of Thybulle also. Either him or Korkmaz should start.

Winning this game without Joel would be huge. I expect us to go small w/this 9 man rotation:

PG Richardson | Burke
SG Korkmaz | Thybulle
SF Harris | Ennis
PF Simmons | Scott
CE Horford

Simmons to play smallball C when Horford is out. Shouldn't be any problem especially when matched up with an opposing "Center" like Daniel Theis who is smaller than him.

Most of this I was going to write. Except you wrote it better and in the process echoed my feelings exactly about this game. It's time for Ben and Al to show the world just exactly what they can do.
The Accession of Paul Reed is upon us !

You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

there's a 100% chance Embiid's finger injury is much worse than we hoped. It's totally our luck. I'm fully expecting the "out for 3-6 weeks" update within the next day.

Yup, very scared of ligament damage. A normal dislocated finger should require a little tape at worst.

Would be nice to get a game on them tonight. Despite all the annoyances of this team, the #2 seed is very much within reach. Just need to find a spark to hit a hot streak.

This is the game where Simmons shows he is an elite player and not a coward, I expect nothing short of excellence.

We need a major step up from Tobias. I don't know if his hip is still bothering him, but he needs to come out and drop 30.

If we add a piece or two before the trade deadline and treys role come alive. I can see us turning it on after the break. With health in mind..

Agreed. I just don't know if BB and EB see the same flaws on this team as we do. I.e. Covington would be great, but our problem is creating offense in the halfcourt, not a lack of spot-up shooters.

A "true" fix would would be acquiring a starting PG, moving Simmons to forward, and bringing Horford off the bench.

Pretty ridiculous that we wouldn't just play a real backcourt for a game and move Harris or Simmons to their rightful PF spot.

no embiid, no hope. setting my expectations as low as i can. we are playin at home, so we have a chance, but it requires a big game from ben to win this.

Matchups probably favor Celtics. Celtics have no answer for embiid.

Really comes down to shooting this year. Is thybulle rusty? He will be needed to defend Celtics winds.

Kanter could have a good game as well.

Embiid with the torn ligament. Worst case scenario for Brett unless we go on a win streak.
