Wizards get a healthy scoring PG at the same price tag, Houston transitions back to more traditional basketball having a guy over 6’8” and save some money the next three years, and the Sixers take a chance on Wall.

Wall has 3 yrs left at $41M, $44M, and $47M, not including his trade kicker.

As much as I hate Tobias' contract, Wall is one I wouldn't trade him for. If he could shoot and therefore play w/Ben and Jo I might consider it, but he can't.

if I had any faith in our training staff, Wall is the type of shot in the dark we should look into. Not a great or even good shooter but willing and can get to the rim. Could fill the Jimmy role for us...but the achiles injury is often a career ender and he got by on his speed for so long....

Don't forget he had a major injury while in his house. If he can't get by in his house without suffering a major injury what do you think is going to happen when he is on the court for an extend period of time?

$47,443,158
$50,957,466
$54,471,774

John Wall’s remaining contract per season with trade kicker. That’s a hard pass for me.

Based on the recent Woj article, I think the Bucks are about to go all-in on acquiring CP3. Let's hope Brand doesn't become involved in that bidding war.

Quite honestly, the most straight-forward move to fix our problems is Harris/Richardson/Smith for CJ/Ariza.

McCollum(32)/Milton(16)
Thybulle(30)/Korkmaz(18)
Ariza(20)/MLE(24)/Milton(4)
Simmons(34)/Horford(10)/Ariza(4)
Embiid(30)/Horford(18)

McCollum/Milton/Micic
Thybulle/Korkmaz/#36
Ariza/MLE/#21
Simmons/Scott/#34
Embiid/Horford/Pelle

This is as simple as it gets. It's a fair trade for both sides. Portland fans seem to be on board with it as well.

Harris and Thybulle works for some of us POR fans.

I’d be a little reluctant If it’s Thybulle instead of Richardson, I’d probably want to swap picks 16 and 21 to think about it.

A lineup of CJ/Thybulle/Ariza/Ben/Jo feels a little inept offensively.

I do that swap in a heartbeat.

POR needs to shore up the perimeter in the worst way and Thybulles worth the cost.

You could use the MLE on a more offensively oriented player than Ariza. Justin Holiday, Langston Galloway, KCP, and Burks all come to mind.

Like you’re suggesting, Ariza is more of a bench player at this point anyways.

Horford, Harris, and Korkmaz to HOU
Westbrook, 21, and 36 to NY
House, Gordon, Ntilikina, Knox, and Randle to PHI

Am I the only one who does not want to include Thybulle in any trades because I see him as a starter going forward?

I mean, ideally you have someone who is more of a "star" or known quantity ahead of him in the lineup, but Thybulle has pretty much exactly the qualities this roster needs at one of the starting wing positions.

And I think of players around the league who would start over him, and the list is quite small.

If you are assuming Ben and Joel are starters, and you are assuming one or two of Harris, Richardson and Horford are traded with 1 or 2 guys coming back...

Maybe a really good shooter, maybe a PG/combo guard type...

Then the logical move would be to slide Thybulle into the starting lineup.

If another teams asks me for a young asset in order to dump one of the contracts, I would try really hard to include Zhaire or Korkmaz first...

I like Thybulle as a defensive role player with the potential to be a quality starter if he develops offensively. But you've got to give to get, and Zhaire and Korkmaz aren't quality trade assets, they're basically filler. Shake and Matisse are the young guys that teams would be looking at in a deal.

I think ideally everyone would prefer to keep Thybulle. I think willingness to trade him is more how you see his offensive game evolving. No one doubts his defense, but if he can’t learn to have more of an impact like shooting better/consistently from 3 and cutting. Having a player on a cheap rookie contract, and a complimentary low usage player on offense is great. But he has a ways to go to get there on the offensive side of the ball, and there’s a chance he caps out as 25 mpg defensive specialist.
Ultimately I don’t think I’d like to move Thybulle in the CJ McCollum trade you mentioned, but if a pick swap was on the table and there was a player at 16 I highly rated I’d think about it.

I’d probably pull the trigger on a Harris/Thybulle/Scott/21 for CJ/Ariza/16
I’d use our early 2nd to move even further up and draft saddiq bey.
Sign Teague to the MLE and josh Jackson to the minimum
CJ/Teague
Richardson/Milton/Smith
Ariza/Bey/Korkmaz
Simmons /Jackson
Embiid /Horford
Defense will still be great and we could play small or big.
That’s a winner

Thybulle shot 37.6% on 2.3 catch and shoot 3pt shots per game. Josh Richardson shot 34.6% on 3.4 catch and shoot 3pt shots per game.

Thybulle's numbers in that category are on par with Marc Gasol, OG Anunoby, Wes Matthews, Pascal, Harrison Barnes, Kent Bazemore, Tobias, better than Kyle Lowry, better than Dragic, better than Dario, about the same as Dorian Finney Smith and Cedi Osman, better than Danuel House, Terrence Ross and Taureen Prince. And almost the same as Landry Shamet.

So, my point in listing all of these guys is that whoever is playing with Ben and Joel will need to be an above average catch and shoot 3pt guy, and it may be hard to find someone who fits in the starting lineup, and can be above average at those types of shots, AND has the same defensive capabilities and switching Thybulle has.

Likely you end up with a playmaker at PG, and Tobias at SF still. So can Thybulle be the SG or is there someone else out there who is better on both ends of the floor who is available, and realistically acquirable?

Or, Harris is the PF, Ben at PG, and a creator at SG. Thybulle can be the SF.

Either way, he's on a rookie deal, doesn't command the ball, fits like a glove defensively with any scheme we run, has chemistry with our stars, and offensively will be asked to hit catch and shoot 3s at about 37-38%.

Who else in the NBA can you realistically acquire that is a better option?

Obviously you need a perimeter creator out there, but you can find one without giving up Thybulle. Because otherwise who is your 5th starter? Especially one who won't be targeted in the playoffs defensively.

Josh showed he can step up occasionally but not nearly consistently in the playoffs. He shot 32% on 6.3 catch and shoot 3s per game in the playoffs. By comparison, Shake shot 47% on 4.3 catch and shoot 3s per game in the playoffs.

Josh is primed to be traded for a better creator, and likely packaged with Horford (or at the very least Horford won't be starting).

So you've got Ben, Joel, Tobias, Creator from Josh trade....then who? Shake, Matisse and Al are your next best players. Matisse is the best fit as a starter.

Stats without context can be misleading. If you want to break down those numbers month by month his inconsistency is more glaring, as well as how open and ignored he was, and volume.

You put a list of players he “shot” better than, all of which are much better shooters at volume, contested, and in the playoffs when it matters. Matisse had shots but didn’t take them in the playoffs and was only 1 of 4 from 3 point range in four games.

Again I mostly agree with you about Thybulle, but those are some rose colored glasses you’re looking at those stats with. I don’t think you can slot him in and project him as a starter next year that’s going to shoot 5-6 3s a game at 37-38%. His shot and offense are both very much a work in progress, but certainly not inferring a lost cause.

Isnt ariza a great catch and shoot 3 and D wing as well?

CJ and ariza on this team would be soooo much brtter than harris and jrich.. neither of those 2 want to catch and jack amd neither can create.

CJ does both amd ariza catches and shoots and still can play D.

Id do this deal in a heartbeat

Give me desmond bane, Dinwiddie and Hield.
Horford, zhaire and Josh can go.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
