Wiggins hasn't been short on any of those. He's been a starter since the jump and has played nearly 36 mpg.

He's had no structure. He's had opportunity to ball and score, which he has. Hasn't had a structure or a role required to add to winning basketball though. He's not a star player but he could be an elite role player, never had the opportunity before to be one.

He's played for Thibodeau and Kerr. That feels like a made up excuse. He's a poor defender and mediocre shooter. Doesn't scream elite role player to me. Maybe he turns things around. Feels like a suckers bet to me though

I would easily trade Horford for Wiggins as long as we kept #21. Not attaching a FRDP in that deal.

GSW going from KD to Russel to Wiggins to a 35 yr old Horford. Yikes.

They did it for the picks mate, KD could have walked away for nothing but now they got a pick from Brooklyn and 1 from Minnesota.
I don’t think they trade wiggins for Horford as they probably believe they maximise his potential.

Yeah, I'm just saying that going from KD to Horford is a bad move for GSW. Not even multiple first round picks from 3 teams is worth that. And Explosion doesn't even want to attach a pick. It's like we are doing GSW a favor for getting rid of Wiggins.

They didn't get a pick in the Durant trade, they actually gave up some if you lump dumping Iguodala into that (future 1st to Grizzlies, future 2nd to BK).

Given that it would cost something significant to dump Wiggins, they may have been better off asset wise just letting Durant walk.

Can’t look at it like that. Durant was leaving no matter what, so they salvaged a S&T with BKN for Russell to keep the salary slot open.

So Milwaukee plans on going after Bogdanovic from Sacto. That should increase the need for them to move off Buddy.

It would be nice to get a 12 for 21 swap included in a deal.

Yeah, In reality they lost Durant to free agency, so they targeted Russell to at least add an asset to their roster. Then they worked from there.

It pretty obvious that losing Durant, or any MVP caliber candidate, for almost anybody will leave you with a less talented roster.

A hypothetical post-Morey hire trade...

Simmons/Horford/Richardson/Smith/#21 for Harden/Gordon/Covington

Harden(34)/Milton(14)
Thybulle(14)/Gordon(24)/Milton(10)
Covington(16)/Thybulle(14)/Korkmaz(18)
Harris(34)/Covington(14)
Embiid(30)/MLE(18)

Harden/Milton/#49
Thybulle/Gordon/#36
Covington/Korkmaz/Shayok
Harris/Scott/#34
Embiid/MLE/Pelle

Legitimate championship contenders for the next 4-5 years.

Didn't Hield had his best year under Joeger?

It pretty obvious that losing Durant, or any MVP caliber candidate, for almost anybody will leave you with a less talented roster.

Durant came to golden state because of a salary cap anomaly. It was never his team and would never get the credit or respect he desired and left in free agency. The warriors still successfully managed to get an asset in return getting young first time all star Russell. He was never an ideal fit and getting a first and wiggins from Minnesota was a nice move.
I think it’s better to look at wiggins in comparison to Harrison Barnes. Wiggins is still a nice size salary that allows for other trades with out giving up Klay, steph, or draymond. But I also think wiggins with such a clearly defined role and playing along such proven veterans will thrive in the Harrison Barnes role.

I really can’t see a horford trade, maybe if he was 2-3 years younger. If golden state is looking for size there’s wiseman one of the safest picks in the draft at number 2, or plenty of talented young bigs in the league. I don’t think horford matches up well with Anthony Davis or lebron particularly well and there would be much better targets for the warriors.

I dont know what Rockets plans are.

But one scenario I’m looking is that they may go for a rebuild. A new GM usually would do things that would set his identity.

If they’re going to do a rebuild, I can see them trading Harden. The recent news of Rockets asking for Embiid could be their way of asking for more and really just settling for what they want. Or could be their way of saying Harden has higher value than both Embiid and Ben. Anchoring.

That said.. would you trade Ben for Harden? Or Harden for Embiid?

Before you say no, realized that no matter we decide here plays no factor in real life.

I think either a Harden-Ben or Harden-Biid duo can work.

Harden
Tobias
Roco?
Ben
Al

I can actually see this as a better team that what we have now.

If you go for a Harden and Biid, you can go Lakers mode and dont give an F and just fill the roster with guys like Caruso or McGee (im exaggerating but you get my point).

You absolutely trade Ben for Harden. That’s automatic contention, which is the whole point. If you can sneak away with Covington too, then even moreso.

What's the current need to dump Horford? Willing to add anything to Conley for Horford?

Would you do Conley, Davis, and 23 for Horford, Scott, Smith, 21, and 34?

I'd do that instantly. Then you can likely pull a sweetheart deal with Conley for the rest of his career in the offseason after it's been decided that he's important to this team. Gives him an opportunity to potentially be an important piece of a championship winning team.
