Kenny Atkinson or Jeff Van Gundy would be fine with me either one. Even if we think its mostly the players, which I dont, but even if we did how can you explain the effort they give some nights? I dont really believe the players like him all that much anymore and that was supposed to be his strong point that the players liked him and played hard for him. I feel like the newer guys are definitely not big fans: Tobi, Al, and Josh. Sometimes you need a fresh voice.

My biggest fear is that some non-playoff team will snatch Atkinson up immediately after the regular season while we get knocked out in the first or second round again. Mind you, I'm all for making the playoffs still, but Brand needs to make a promise to Atkinson ASAP that if the Sixers get knocked out in the first or second round again, the job is his.

I think he is a high enough profile guy, that he would wait to make a decision if we told him we were highly considering him (without promising per say), I just think (like at the draft) promising in advance just doesn't end well. Lets say Ben and or Biid go out in the first game of the 2nd round, and we still take the team to game 7 and lose. I just think that's a tough spot to get rid of Brown...

I could see it, I just don't like it.

Kenny Atkinson = guard oriented system
Lue = superstar oriented system

The guy to replace, if ever, is SVG. SVG is known to make the stars shine in the league. His best work was with D12 and the magic, which has a lot of similarity with our team.

I can almost bet you that he’s gonna be the guy if we ever replace Brett

Lol Dwight got him fired and it was a public embarrassment. Then SVG goes to the Pistons and in desperation to keep his job, sacrifices the future of their franchise with the Blake Griffin trade. Not to mention his criticisms of the Process.

Jeff is the superior Van Gundy.

He was able to run a team with D12 as the center of their offense. Which is brilliant given how bad D12 actually is on offense, that was evident after his stint with the Magic. Something he can do with Embiid.

For the Pistons, that was his waterloo. But then every candidate you will look at after Brett have their own waterloos. If not, they’d be employed by some team right now.

I’d rather have SVG over Jeff. SVG forte is more of how to run the team at the best of their abilities by making talents shine. JVG is more old school. His offense and defense are both very rigid for me

Is Atkinkson really a good coach ... or do people just pull his name because he's available?

Brett has lost the locker room. And depending on how the playoffs go it may not be Brand making the call anyway. Have to get a new voice in here.

Here’s the other thing, so many has been saying that Brett has lost the locker room, has anyone been in the locker room to witness Brett losing it? Where’s all these rumors coming from?
Stop making it sound like an episode of gossip girl

Simmons not shooting after a public appeal.

GRob complaining he doesn't know his role.

Burke and KOQ both passive aggressively through family tweeting for more PT.

Horford complaining about his role, then publicly saying they had internal issues they were dealing with.

Doesn't seem like a guy who has the locker room under control, does it?

Simmons not shooting has nothing to do with Brett losing him as a coach. Ben is the reason that Brett Brown is now the Australian head coach. If anything they are too chummy...

Who was the Ben Simmons of the SVG Magic teams? The reason that team was successful was because everyone around Dwight was shooting 38% from 3 at volume, at least for the time.

We currently have no one shooting 38% or better besides Furkan and Shake, and I don't think inserting SVG would change that.

Also, the league has completely changed since that Magic team.

I think either Van Gundy being mentioned is wild. Neither of these guys would be a good hire, in my eyes.

1. Jay Wright (give him full control of basketball operations)
2. Kenny Atkinson
3. Bill Self

Good god, no to SVG. People really want to hire a coach because he had short lived success with a big man a decade ago?

We are struggling now because we built a “bully ball” team around 2 bigs. Let’s not keep ourselves in the stone age and keep hiring dinosaur coaches.

I'm generally not a fan of hiring retreads unless they meet one or both of the following criteria:

1. They've proven they can help their team win a title (pretty rare that such coaches become available).
2. They were let go unfairly (Atkinson).

I'm particularly not a fan of hiring retreads that have failed to win a title with multiple teams, which applies to both Van Gundy brothers. Especially Stan given that he coached three different NBA teams and was given full control of basketball operations in Detroit. So a big no from me.

Nah he's more like Rob Ryan than Rex, cause Stan isn't as good as his brother either.

The more I think about it, the more I like Jay Wright or possibly Bill Self. I am not at all opposed to plucking a coach from the college ranks and seeing what they can do with our team. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Just depends. Jerry Tarkanian, Rick Pitino both had short NBA stints, but guys like Brad Stevens and Billy Donovan have proven that you can be successful moving up to the NBA ranks.

Is there any reason—even if it be a scrap of innuendo or a rumor you heard—to believe that Wright or Self are interested in moving to the NBA? Because all of this sounds a litter fever-dreamy.

I'm a dreamy guy, just ask the ladies j/k
But....I did read a list of college names that had a NBA buzz to them, be it just crap media rumor or mindless speculation from a writer. Tony Bennett and Sean Miller were on that list too.

Sounds like there could be quite a bit of competition for coaching candidates this summer.

rumors were flying a couple months ago that Self was the Spur's choice to replace Pop after the season. (he certainly did a swell job developing and deploying Embiid in college.) Wright has been an obvious subject of speculation for years. He could stay as a beloved fixture at Villanova indefinitely. the Show would be a gamble, but athletics is all about competition, and even a disappointed run wouldn't leave him with empty pockets.
