The contracts are what I’ve heard. Tobias contract is toxic.

That contract was so obviously going to be toxic from the moment I heard that he declined the Clippers 5-80 extension in summer, 2018.

I want to go back and see who the bootlickers on this forum were that were defending it both at the time we traded for him, and then again when we signed him.

It appears the Sixers overpaid in trade for Tobias out of desperation, because they already knew they were going to let Butler go.

That way they'd still have a 3rd "star" to fool the fans with and that would lessen the blow of letting go an actual star just months after foolishly trading for him.

Optics.

Is this about the new hc or are the Harris detracters gonna derail this thread too with their obsession? Smh get over it. "Goat gm" Jerry West just destroyed the Clippers future with the trade he did for PG and you think our trade for Harris was bad? DID YOU SEE WHAT SHAMET DID IN THE PLAYOFFS?

I think we're stuck with Tobias. It's not great, but at least by all accounts he's a good influence in the locker room. If the next coach is able to unlock an efficient, off ball 15 ppg from him and solid defense, he's salvageable. Obviously being paid too much for his production, but it doesn't hinder the players that matter.

I'm afraid that his contract will lead to other more consequential moves because he's so unmovable.

The only way Harris can become somewhat useful offensively is if he learns to play off ball and he learns how to flop and foul bait.

Never gonna happen. He is what he is at this point. They sold us that he could play off-ball and space the floor. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Dude is allergic to contact and never met an open 3 he couldn't hesitate and drive into the midrange from.

I have a hard time believing you can’t flip Tobias for another toxic contract, though. And if all the other owners really are preparing for a long haul (3 years plus) revenue downturn where Harris’ contract is untenable to them... then this team is totally ******. Process part II anyone?

An annoying part of this is that we had someone who knows how to play with Ben and move off ball.

Dario and Ben definitely had a rapport that worked on offense. Dario knows how to move within space while Tobias waits for the ball to come to him and take inefficient shots that he creates for himself. That team probably would have worked with D'Antoni: Ben, JJ, Cov, Dario, Embiid.

The mouthpieces around the organization keep teasing about internal cleanouts, but i'm sure it's just a facade.

Listening to Pompey on radio he makes it sound like ownership wants to hire D'Antoni and hire a president of basketball operations

I was vouching for him all season long but he was bad during the bubble. Maybe a new coach can get through to him that he needs to stop chucking the ball at the backboard as hard as he can. Seems like once the ball is in his hands nothing will stop him from taking poor shots.

An immediate Morey/D'Antoni reunion would be fun

Yeah, Keith on the Sixers Talk podcast said he didn't buy into the MDA talk either but then 2 different sources, one of them supposedly very high level, confirmed to him that MDA is the favorite and its his job to lose. Ty Lue a close 2nd.

And a PoBB to be hired as well.

They are looking for someone who can partner with Brand. Nobody would get full control from what I’ve heard. No names mentioned but you can guess it wouldn’t be a big name with no full control.

Another factor not mentioned much about Tobias Harris. He has blinders. No vision. Black hole.

Along w/being allergic to contact, refusing to catch and shoot, being mediocre at best on defense...

Sounds like a similar story to what Pompey said on the podcast. Like someone who could even sort of mentor Elton a bit, but also let Elton be the GM and have ultimate say on what moves are made. But could also give heavy amount of influence/ideas/research towards helping Elton find the right players, etc.

If that's the plan then its a joke. If they think that Brand does not have what it takes they should find a better GM. No competent guy will come here to be Brand's advisor anyway. I am also wondering what coach will put his career in the hands of such an incompetent and dysfunctional FO.
