Paul Reed was the 12 overall player on John Hollingers big board. Obviously he's an outlier in just how much he loves him but seems like a good pick:

12. Paul Reed, PF, DePaul
Some of you have heard me extoll Reed’s virtues already, but for those who haven’t: My hottest take on the 2020 class is that Reed is the most undervalued player in the draft, hiding in plain sight as a young junior mired on a brutal DePaul team. I still wonder if I have him too low here.

A long-limbed 4 who moves well laterally, flashes tremendous hands, and has great instincts, Reed can guard 1 through 5 and has All-Defense potential. He’s a rim protector too, a quick leaper who can block shots, and he’s an outstanding rebounder for his size – which may allow him to play 5 as his body fills out. Statistically, Reed had the highest steal rate of any player in my top 60, guards included, and had the highest block rate of any non-center.

Offensively, he books in transition and gets easy buckets that way, but the halfcourt will be a work in progress. He has a high handle and an awkward shooting release, although he seems comfortable shooting off the dribble. He’s athletic enough to finish plays at the rim as a roller, but the decision-making can be suboptimal. He’s pretty quick off the bounce, however, and one wonders if he can attack the rim with more space.

Overall, Reed may be a negative on offense if the shot doesn’t come around, but his college numbers weren’t tragic: 33.0 percent career from 3 and 77.0 percent from the line. Additionally, Reed scores as much from “random” offense — cuts, put-backs, fake DHOs, etc. — as anyone you’ll see, and that could be an offensive lifeline.

For me Reed projects as a high-value role player, a guy who could be a team’s best defender and productively play a secondary role on offense. I’m really interested to see where he lands in the draft, because most projections have him buried in the late second round. If that really happens, he’s an absolute steal.

No, you have to scroll around on Twitter for the next hour to see who are our UDFA.

Or for us to trade the guy I just said I liked.

I'm pretty surprised that everyone dislikes the Richardson + 36 for Curry trade and I'm wondering if opinions would be less negative if the trade was announced on a different day rather than right about when we were about to make a pick.

Seth Curry's 3 year RAPM: 58th in the NBA

Also just an excellent fit next to Simmons and one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA. He's also on a great contract.

Have faith in Morey my dudes.

Has lots of physical tools and not much idea how to use them to full effect, from what I read. Decent 58th pick as a developmental project, two way guy.

I think we will. Unlike past regimes, Morey lives on late picks and finding UDFA's. He'll fill out our G-League if necessary.

It just dawned on me, with our trade exceptions we could now be in play as a sign and trade option for Bogdanovic.

No worries with our proven ability to teach guys to shoot...
If he's already in seizure stage he's light-years ahead of schedule. Morey is a genius.

Sounds like Reed needs some tough love to get his brain in the game and work his butt off to become a player. His defensive stats are nuts, and should be a lob threat. Sounds like he did not interview well, might have some background issues to grow up from. Worthy of a late chance, might as well take a shot on high upside, even if reaching it is questionable.

They absolutely cannot.

1) They are less than he will make
2) It would take Philly over the hard cap and thus not be legal.

More like Winter League (which is still unconfirmed, and probably unlikely).

Have been thinking this as well. Not sure it can or will work, but love the possibility.

Can you imagine the uncomfortableness in the war room as Morey explains to everyone that they need to give away picks to dump Horford and Josh, because they are horrible fits? Brand has to uncomfortably nod in agreement.

The theme of the night was fixing the mistakes of last year’s boneheaded GM..... who is still in the room as the GM. It’s like an 80s sitcom. Plot: Morey banged Harris’ wife, so his punishment is he has to fix the sixer... but here is the twist... with the guy who screwed the team up as his assistant. Can you imagine the hilarious hijinks that ensue as Morey and his ill-equipped partner try to fix the very team that Elton screwed up?

It’s like a sports version of Tommyboy. They might be onto something.

Couldn't we package the exceptions with a Zhaire/Scott combo? That gets us to about 18 mil or thereabouts. No?

I'll never understand Dotson not getting drafted. Truly insane from any measure. Perhaps he went the Terence Davis route and demanded that no one draft him so he can sign an UDFA contract. Hopefully he doesn't go the Terence Davis route in the offseason after his rookie season.

I don't know, it just seems absurd to think Elton gets an extension if he was truly the leading voice on everything that happened last year.
