If Harden is gone can Tyrese take the reigns and give us something like Jamal Murray (combo guard scorer). Jamal is bigger and a better shot creator, the biggest difference being able to keep his dribble alive use his body to shield the ball and rise up from anywhere on the floor. Maxey obviously being quicker can be useful in getting to his spots he has to incorporate better footwork and 2nd, 3rd moves to his arsenal. The hope is that Maxey can continue to develop his on-ball ability, while the sixers new coaching staff can make more use of Maxeys speed both in the halfcourt and full court. I think he can develop a 2 man game with Embiid also with more reps and usage.

Murray's offensive freedom

2-man game Jokic/Murray

Can Maxey get us over the hump?

Maxey is easily a good enough shooter to work the DHO game with Embiid too. Besides having some counter moves in his bag, the other thing he should work on is movement shooting.

Actually, it’s amazing that Maxey can turn out the second best Sixer of the process era and we just take him for granted.

As of he is what he was supposed to be.

Looking at these crazy extensions, I wonder:

1. What’s the max we can offer Maxey?
2. What’s the max other teams can offer him?

As it looks like, the plan is to go for some FA in 2024 and then resign Maxey to a fair contract. Question is, what is “fair” for Tyrese.
I’m quite sure some teams will offer him the max, and we will match.

Basically? we're looking at a 200 million 5 years at worst...

The most probable thing is something around 175-185 for five years, a little more than the Herro/Pool Numbers. Other teams can offer the same money but only 4 years if the new CBA didn't change the rule.

If Maxey wants to get more money tho, he can reduce the years on the deal and bet on getting all star/All NBA nods and increase his max

$175M/5 years is totally fine to me, considering what Ball and Halliburton got.

I mean, it's probably gonna be a lot more thanks to the cap. The amount at the end is immaterial because his max is still 25% of the cap.

It’s $134M for 2023-24 and will be around $143M for 2024-25, right?

Okay then, $200M/5 years for Maxey lol. It won’t look that bad later.

43% from deep on 6+ attempts per game is pretty wild. There were games where he looked curry like with the way he was confidently launching shots. I think Maxey is a budding superstar and has a chance to be one of the best shooters of all time at this rate. There's my bold take on Maxey this season

He needs to start taking higher degree of difficulty 3s to start considering him as a great shooter in this era. Not exactly a lot of guys shooting 40% on medium volume, but it's no longer a unicorn either. And at his size and lack of defense his value as a shooter is a little muted compared to say a wing with the same 3p volume and percentage.

Still like him as a player and I hope he can start to show some ability to break down a defender in the halfcourt without the advantage of downhill speed. He's a good enough shooter now, but his offensive toolkit needs development in other ways.

looks like he's improved putting the ball on the floor and breaking down his defender so far.

Not only is Maxey a better player than Herro, he's gonna end up being a more reliable 3 point shooter.
